Wow. My advisor just told me that the testing center at my school was wrong about the CLEPS I could take to graduate this fall.
So here's a breakdown of my situation:
1.) I need 15 CLEP/Dantes Upper level Credits completed around the 1st of December, which means....
2.) I need to take CLEP Human Growth and Development for 3 credits, (almost done with the IC flashcards)
3.) From there, I can choose from the following:
- Dantes Lifespan Developmental psych for 3 credits (I checked, and I CAN take this for credit in addition to CLEP Human Growth)
-CLEP English Lit for 6 credits
-CLEP American Lit for 6 credits
-DANTES Civil war and Reconstruction for 3 credits
To add to this, I'm not too comfortable with any of the above subject matter, except for Human Growth, and Lifespan psych, because I've been studying for them with IC.
Also, the Psych stuff was all logical things to remember, but as far as pure memorization of dates, people, authors etc... I'm far from scholarly!!!
Any advice would be very much appreciated in these trying times.

Oh, and the scores I would need are:
American Lit and English Lit: 50
Civil War: 47
Life Span Developmental: 54
Human Growth and Dev: 50
Also, I spoke with my advisor, and she highly recommended I finish my last test by THANKSGIVING!!!

HUman Growth followed by Lifespan Development. I would imagine that the psychology in both would build upon one another.
I'd probably say to do Civil War after that. Just try and plow through it as quickly as possible.
I knew a guy who passed the American Literature test by using the Complete Idiot's Guide to American Literature. He said it had everything he needed. He passed with a 53.

I passed American Lit using the guide and it was more than enough. I didn't take Brit Lit but if they have an idiot's guide, I would say it's worth a look. Civil War and Reconstruction was my only failed exam, so you don't want my advice on that one LOL!! To finish by Thanksgiving will require concentrated effort.

I took English Lit this past Monday and passed with a 66. The main text I studied was the Idiot's Guide to English Literature. It is great - well structured, easy to read, and awesome appendices in the back that group authors chronologically under each main literary period and the famous works that each author is known for. I highly recommend it. I didn't even buy my own copy...I got it from the library!

I probably spent about 2 weeks studying...a few hours each day.
Good luck!

 I took the American Literature test today and failed with a 49! I needed a 50. I was so bummed. I cried all the way to night class. I felt like I studied alot of important material, and it was not all on the actual test. This forum suggested The Complete Idiot's Guide to American Literature, which I searched for to no avail in the short amount of time that I needed it. I found the Complete Idiot's Guide for English Literature. Has anyone out there passed the CLEP English Literature from just studying that? I need help, in order to graduate in Dec. It is a must that I pass that one ASAP if I can. I passed Analyzing and Interpreting Literature last week with a 58. Please someone help!!
