Foundations of Education (DSST) Is it easy?
#1
I am getting ready to start studying for the Foundations of Education Test (given by DSST). I have looked over the notecards on InstantCert and many of them seem pretty common sense. Has anyone taken this test and did you find it to be easy or difficult? Also, did you find that using InstantCert as a study guide was sufficient preparation and did not need to use other books?

I would greatly appreciate any feedback that anyone can offer. This is the last 3 credits I need for the requirements for becoming certified as an elementary school teacher in NYC, and I am anxious to get it done.

Thank you so much!

I used only IC to take the ethics exam and was totally unprepared. One of my classmates told me it was very easy and that most of the questions were common sense. That couldn't be farther from the truth. The test was very hard and as some have stated, the questions were confusing. I should get my score back next week. If I passed, it's all luck!

Hi Jax,
I am new to this site. I have to take the Foundation of Education as well and I have only two week to study. You stated that you used IC. Could you please tell me what that is and How I can get it in order to get started on this test. I took the Substance Abuse test today and failed, so I have to try again. I need all the advice and Help I can get. Not good with taking test.

Thanks in advance for your help.

IC stands for Instantcert the mother cite for this board. It only cost $20/month and I would say is well worth the cost. To sign up go to InstantCert.com: Online CLEP and DSST Preparation once you are a member you also have access to the Specific exam feedback section of this board which has invaluable suggestions of what you need to know for the test. I am using mostly IC to study I will let you know how it goes.

Hi LaToya,

IC = InstantCert which is the forums you're currently on. IC has two main areas that really help people pass. One is the forums, which you're on right now. The other is the flashcards. In order to use these, you'll need to subscribe to InstantCert. It's only $20 a month though if you hunt online for a discount code the first month is $15.

Once you're subscribed, you can see the Specific Feedback thread for the Foundations of Education:

Specific Feedback Thread for the Foundations of Education DSST

and can also see the Flashcards for this exam:

Flashcards for Foundations of Education DSST

After that, just start studying!
