I'm new here and have been surfing the forum for about 3 hours just soaking it all in. My one question to you all is, which Dantes exams are easiest to pass? I am sitting at 115 credits to graduate which leaves me with 15 to go. I am enrolled to take the "Here's To Your Health" exam tomorrow, but after that I'm not sure which ones to prepare for. The 15 credits I need are all elective credits, so I can pretty much take any exam i want so long as I have not already taken the same class. That means Intro to Pshycology is out as I have taken that class already.
Thanks for your time.

Your degree requires 130 credits, not 120?
What's your major, maybe I can suggest an easy elective.

Yeah I'm sorry, I have 105 credits and need 120. I'm sooo tired .
Bachelors of Information Technology
I need 12 elective credits and 3 liberal arts credits. My councelor said that liberal arts is pretty much just a fancy name for an elective and I can take just about any exam to cover that one as well.
I can also take CLEP exams, though i am not sure what the difference is between DSST and CLEP?
Thanks for your time.

You should do a search on this site for FEMA exams. They may be a good fit for you.
Also, if the FEMA route is not fruitful, you should consider sitting a couple of 6 credit CLEP exams. Analyze & Interpret Literature is six easy credits. So is the Social Science and History exam.
That'll give u the 12 credits you need.
A pass is a pass!
CLEP Passed
Social Science & History (6)
English Comp w/Essay (6)

Ummmm.... ok. Stop.
Liberal arts credit is not a fancy name for a free elective. Liberal arts credit must come from math, science, social science, or humanities.
Second, schools all have lists of the tests you can take and the equivalency. You need this list. Maybe it's online, but if not, you need it in print. You also need to confirm with your adviser that the exam meets your degree requirement. Is your counselor your academic adviser? In other words, if you take your test, and SOMEONE denies credit, can this person pull rank and get it on your transcript?
Suppose you take Analyzing and Interpreting Literature (which I would suggest) that exam at many schools will award you 6 humanities credits. However, many schools do not accept that exam at all. You need a list in writing, and you need to know exactly what you need first.
CLEP and DSST are just different companies, they are nearly the same in every regard- (multiple choice, pass/fail, similar cost, etc) but they expand your testing options. DSST is sometimes still offered pencil and paper style.

Ok, I do have the list of both Clep and Dantes tests that are available.
My councelor I was speaking of, is in fact my Academic counselor and he has asked that I clear each exam with him before I take it so that there is no conflict once I have submitted a passing exam score. He is getting approval from the University so that we have some back up just incase they come back and try not to accept the exams.
Thanks for looking out for me in those regards, I can certainly see where this could potentially be problematic.
I just passed the "Here's to Your Health" Dantes exam with only about an hour of preperation. My score was 56 and I needed a 48 to pass. I'm not sure if its supposed to work this way but I was given a choice to take the old style or the revised version of the exam. I chose to take the old style because I knew a little more on what to expect.
Analyze & Interpret Literature is on my list of CLEP exams that the University of Phoenix accepts so I could take that if I chose to. As it is 6 credits, does this mean that there are more questions than your typical 3 credit exam?
Thanks for you time guys, you have been a big help so far.

Excellent!
Analyzing and Interpreting literature is not longer. I strongly suggest that as your next test. Read the feedback here, it's a good test.
After that, you'll have 6 credits remaining. That can either be 1 exam for 6 credits, or 2 of the 3 credit tests.
Since you are a computer person, how is your math? I'm guessing it's pretty good. If it doesn't duplicate credit, there is a 6 credit College Math that might be a breeze for you. You should ask your counselor about that one for sure.
Also, there are 3 computer exams, (1 is CLEP, 2 are Dantes) check to see if any of those will work for you or if the duplicate your credit and/or fall outside of your degree requirements. If they fit, they might be a "walk in cold" kind of test for you.

Thanks Jennifer,
I'll check on the coarses you mentioned. While my Math is sufficient, I'm not sure how I would do on a computerized/timed exam. I don't do math well under pressure lol.

Well, still check on the College Math exam. According to those here who took it, it was quite easy and not too "mathy." (I didn't take it, sorry!)
