It is still pretty flaky
Classes aren't falling into expected spots, and sometimes vary in the spots they fall into from program to program.(gen ed spots)
so if anyone takes a look, I would say don't panic until they work the kinks out a bit more.

I just checked BSBA, well....
First, wondering what will fill information literacy? Oral communication is obvious. Nothing I have populated into the information literacy slot.
Luckily there is no lab requirement under Natural World. Honestly, I was a bit worried about the unequal credit notation.
Also, Psychology of Women and Marriage & the Family no longer seem to fit the Civic Learning category. (sigh) Diversity and Civic Engagement are blank. Would imagine something from the Politics/Government/Law subjects will fit Civic Engagement. I thought one of my two classes would have still filled the Diversity slot, but unfortunately that did not happen. Maybe the slot now needs to be preapproved by Advising? I guess when the new catalog is released we will find out what is now accepted for both Diversity and Civic Engagement.
The biggest change is that there is now a 60 credit Gen Ed Core Section across degree plans. For BSBA majors, the Gen Ed Section no longer incorporates the communications and social science business requirements. Managerial/Business Communications, Macro & Microeconomics have now been moved to Business Core which eliminates the Business Elective Section (9 credits). That really sucks because Intro to Business, Prin of Supervision and or the free TEEX courses filled that section seamlessly. :^(
Oh well, there is always change, students will adjust. You guys who applied in time to lock in the 2014-2015 catalog...smart move!

Awesome, thanks for the link!! So I guess there is a definite bug in the system because I have more than enough courses to fill two of the slots.

They seemed to have moved a lot of courses from Gen Ed to business area.

Don't waste time by trying to save time. The only sure way to complete your degree is to knock out credits quickly and efficiently.
Don't let easiness bite you in the rear. Know your endgame (where you want to be) and plan backward from there. Your education is a means to an end.
Be honest professionally, socially and academically. There are people (especially little ones) who look up to you and they're going by your example.
Be proud. Whether you're an Engineer or Fast Food worker, there is honor and dignity in hard work.
Picking on people weaker than you only proves that you are a weak person.

I will be updating my plans soon. I might keep the old ones up and mark them as "2014-2015 and before" for those who are already enrolled.

So at first glance do the veterans around here think the new changes will increase or decrease the time/difficulty of completing a degree at TESC?

Not sure if I would be considered a veteran?
I think the answer is subjective but I would say more difficult. Students definitely don't have as much flexibility as before. Look back for a moment, these changes were actually implemented in steps over the past few years. Even AAS Criminal Justice now has a capstone. It looks as if the only program remaining that does not have a capstone requirement is AA Gen Studies.
What is more important, in my opinion, is TESC seems to be moving slowly into a more structured format. This was mentioned briefly in another thread. Not so bad for the alum as it will only strengthen the schools reputation; but for the future students, it won't be as easy to piece together a degree.
The test out programs seem to be coming to an end; which for me is actually positive. I prefer a hybrid approach to college education. The family saves money on general subjects but the student will also (hopefully) learn and develop a stronger skill set in the chosen major; even if only based in theory.
TESC may in fact be growing out of its adult education model. The nursing school, ground expansion and public attention over the past years seem to have pushed the school out of its self induced corner, out into the forefront. Not bad, not bad at all.

The ASNSM programs (biology, mathematics, and computer science) don't have a capstone. The ASBA also does not have a capstone.
