alternative to these courses - sophia

Does anyone know if there is any credit alternatives for GEC requirements for 'business communication', 'french or spanish 1'? I just really don't want to do a course that has me making a video of myself.

You could always take a CLEP or ACTFL exam for both of those 2 languages. Each university will accept trasferred credit differently. Business Communication on Study was very easy and fun.

For some reason I thought this was for TESU, anyways, for videos of yourself, you may be able to take a voice recording and video of a presentation instead of that. I would actually get in contact with Sophia.org support and see if there is an option to that instead of looking for alternatives as your first step. If they do not accept that, you can then investigate alternative credits options...

just suck it up, took me 5 minutes. What do you think you would have to do in a normal college class? There are ALWAYS video presentations.

IIRC it was just audio....(For Spanish)

To be honest the language requirement at UMPI is completely useless and a waste of time IMO. It is one of the biggest turn offs to going to UMPI for the majority of majors. I understand it for something like International Relations, Linguistics or International Business but for most degrees it is nonsense. I have no idea why it is required for the BAS or a check box degree like the BLS. The entire point of applied degrees (BAS) is they are more focused on courses related towards your major.

I remember my German teacher telling me in HS that I would not get into college without a good grade in her class, literally every single school I applied accepted me and they all said they did not care (or it was not important) about a language class because of my major.
