  Study.com tests not graded
Posted by: Miggies - 07-12-2024, 09:54 AM - Forum: Saylor.org, Straighterline, Study.com, OnlineDegree.com, Sophia.Org Discussion - Replies (6)

I have waited over two weeks for Study.com to grade my exams. I’ve called them and left them a voicemail at this number: 877-266-4919, and have also contacted them through their website; I haven’t received a response back. How long does it usually take for a test to be graded, and is there any better way I can contact the study.com team? Thanks guys

Help - UMPI Degree Plan

Your Location:China
Your Age:42
What kind of degree do you want?:MBA OR CS (BA/BS)

Any certifications or military experience?:CAD intermediate ,IPCF II

Budget: I'd like to go the cheapest route possible, but will consider spending more for easy and fast.

Timeline: Finishing the courses required for the degree as fast as possible(Hopefully within 6 months or even less).
Dedicated time to study:  3-4 hours in the evening. 8-12 hours on Sat and Sun.

Hello,everyone!
I am a new student who need help with my degree plan.
I attended a university in China 18 years ago studying Mechanical Design and Manufacturing and Automation without degree.
My goal here is to get a BA/BS( with as little pain and soon as possible) so that can apply Trine University MBA master or CS master.

Yesterday I was told that I could make it with UMPI.

After viewing some posts I still feel uncertain as below:

1)Can I apply Trine University MBA master with BS degree or CS master with BA degree?(Yet,I haven't decided whether I would apply the CS master or MBA master in Trine)

2)Transferring credits.
UMPI degree required 120 credits(30 credits + 90 credits)
If I apply CS degree which requires 42 cr,can I achieve some of this cr from SOPHIA OR STUDY and then transfer the credits to UMIP?

COS 101 - Introduction to Computer Science 3 credits
COS 110 - Programming Fundamentals 3 credits
COS 120 - Introduction to Data Structures 3 credits
COS 220 - Programming Languages 3 credits
COS 230 - Algorithm Theory and Development 3 credits
COS 235 - Architecture and Organization 3 credits
COS 240 - Network Concepts 3 credits
COS 250 - Management of Enterprise Data 3 credits
COS 305 - Computational Science 3 credits
COS 310 - Operating Systems 3 credits
COS 315 - Parallel and Distributed Computing 3 credits
COS 320 - Software Engineering I 3 credits
COS 330 - Object-Oriented Programming 3 credits
COS 350 - Databases and Database Security 3 credits
Mathematics Requirements (16 cr)
MAT 131 - Calculus I 4 credits
MAT 201 - Probability and Statistics I 3 credits
MAT 202 - Probability and Statistics II 3 credits
MAT 253 - Discrete Mathematics 3 credits
MAT 274 - Linear Algebra 3 credits

I attended a university studying Mechanical Design and Manufacturing and Automation 18 years ago. I'm unsure if this will be of any value or in terms of transfer credits, or if they are even worthwhile sending for assessment.
Once my transfer credit situation is clearer, I would then start a Sophia/study.com course plan to transfer into UMPI with as much cheap credit as possible.

IT Worker with Certifications and Bootcamps Trying to Finish as Quickly as Possible
Posted by: tr8ness - 07-12-2024, 01:03 AM - Forum: Degree Planning Advice - Replies (4)

Your Location: Washington, DC, USA
Your Age: 32
What kind of degree do you want?: Any, just need a university degree for a work promotion requirement
Current Regional Accredited Credits: none
Any certifications or military experience? Amazon Cloud Practitioner, Certified Scrum Master, two intensive coding bootcamps (George Washington University Full-Stack, General Assembly Data Science)
Budget: I'd like to go the cheapest route possible. This will all be cash out of pocket.
Commitments: Full-time work
Dedicated time to study: 2-4 hours per day, but also willing to take a leave of absence from work to knock this out as quickly as possible.
Timeline: Fast as possible would be ideal but I am willing to extend the timeframe if needed.  Overall I would like to be done within a year, but have seen people here finish at UMPI for example in a matter of months.
Tuition assistance/reimbursement: none

So I'm an IT worker with a fair amount of on-the-job experience.  Doesn't matter what degree I get, I just need one to qualify for certain labor categories at my job and continue my promotion pathway.  Looking for the swiftest way to accomplish this.

Unfortunately I'm starting a bit from scratch with no previous credits, unless there's some way to get credit from my coding bootcamps or tech certifications.  I know folks have mentioned ACE somewhere but is there a list on whether these bootcamps or certs might qualify somewhere?  Seems that a 6-month intensive bootcamp at GWU should be worth something, somewhere.

Thanks in advance for the help!

UNC Greensboro Online Phds in Economics and Info Systems
Posted by: freeloader - 07-11-2024, 08:34 AM - Forum: Doctorate Degree Discussion - Replies (1)

UNC Greensboro, which offers one of very few AACSB accredited Phds in Business Administration online is now showing online PhD programs in Economics and Information Systems from their School of Business and Economics: https://bryan.uncg.edu/programs/phd-programs/
Total cost for out of state students would be $60,000 or more, depending on courses required at UNCG/prior coursework.

Transferring additional credits after finishing my degree
Posted by: SimpleDegree - 07-10-2024, 10:08 PM - Forum: EU - Excelsior University Discussion - Replies (4)

Hi all,

I recently graduated with MS in Accounting from FDU and I have BA in LA from Excelsior, I want to take the CPA exam in NJ but need an additional 12 business credits. I took those credits from Davar but now I need to get them onto a transcript in order to be recognized by NASBA. FDU won't accept Davar credits and Excelsior doesn't allow One transcript use for former students. What would be my best (and cheapest) option for getting these credits on a transcript.
(I see someone posted this link a while back does anyone know if it is dated? https://www.excelsior.edu/wp-content/uploads/2020/06/Transcript_Update_Request_Form.pdf)

  Spanish I on Sophia
Posted by: DavidGood - 07-10-2024, 08:02 PM - Forum: Saylor.org, Straighterline, Study.com, OnlineDegree.com, Sophia.Org Discussion - Replies (11)

This class is killing me.

Does anyone have any advice on third-party apps, websites, YouTube channel, etc. to help me get a more immersive experience in Spanish. I have no opportunity to talk to anybody in this language and I refuse to crash and burn in this class.

I am trying to get another chunk of credit transfers before oct start date at UMPI. Unfortunately, for me, this is not a class I can blast through.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

  B.S Bio to B.A Psych
Posted by: fthlee08 - 07-10-2024, 01:49 PM - Forum: TESU - Thomas Edison State University Discussion - Replies (10)

So a year after my original post https://www.degreeforum.net/mybb/Thread-Incomplete-BS-to-hopefully-CJ-BA
I finally got my official transcript and I have decided to get my B.A in Psychology. I have looked on the TESU website and the degree plans but they are very confusing. I can repost my transcript courses if needed but I would love someone to help me breakdown how to move forward. My job has a discount with Bright Horizon so I prefer TESU over UMPI and WGU is too expensive. Also my GPA is 1.7.

Pretty pretty please give me the most affordable option Big Grin

Hello!

This is my second time making a post like this, the below will be adjusted accordingly.

Budget: No budget but would still like to spend as little as possible or close to it.
Commitments: My spouse and dog, I work part time from home.
Dedicated time to study: My 3 day work at home job is very slow-paced. I have as much time as needed to study during those 3 days and limited hours at night/weekends.
Timeline: Finishing the courses required for the degree as fast as possible would be ideal.
Tuition assistance/reimbursement: No.

Current Regional Accredited Credits:
Folsom Lake Community College
ANTH 310 Cultural Anthropology, 3 Units, C Grade

Current ACE, CLEP, or NCCRS Credits:
Sophia Credits: 6
Intro to IT, 3, 93%
Intro to Web Development, 3, 96%

Any certifications or military experience?
Coursera:
Google Project Management Professional Certificate
Google IT Support Professional Certificate - In progress

I've been wanting to do this for a long time and I thought I was finally ready and life threw me a major curveball but that has since been resolved. I'm ready to try again, I managed to complete 2 courses on Sophia and a certificate on Coursera. I'm halfway done with the Google IT Support Certificate and I'm trying to make my way through it quickly, before the CA State Library Program is over. I plan on working my way through what I can on Coursera before moving back over to Sophia and starting some Gen Eds.

I've made a degree plan, linked below, any feedback is greatly welcomed. I had a couple of questions noted in the comments. I've done a large amount of research and couldn't find the answers to all my questions. I originally made this plan back in January but have since adjusted it. Any help is much appreciated.

  Closed Sophia Courses
Posted by: BritStudent - 07-10-2024, 01:08 PM - Forum: General Education-Related Discussion - Replies (5)

I've had a search but I can't find any relevant posts - I remember receiving emails from Sophia in the last month or two to say that some courses were being retired, but can't seem to find them - get far too much spam from Sophia!

Does anyone know which courses have been retired recently or are retiring soon?

Thanks in advance.
