Is AI Finally a Way to Reduce Higher Ed Costs?

Someone commented in another thread regarding UOP where AI in the forum writes the questions and responds to students.

So you can go overboard with AI. Thoughts?

  Online Graduate Statistics course
Posted by: Stonybeach - 04-25-2024, 05:09 PM - Forum: Graduate School Discussion - Replies (16)

Any recommendations for an online graduate level statistics course. The cheaper the better but needs to be RA accredited. My application to graduate school requires a current statistics course within past ten years so I need to take a fresh one. Thanks in advance.

American College of Education - Master's

Has anyone on DegreeForum done a few classes, or finished a degree from ACE?

They have a lot of programs and RA accrediation. It'd be nice to see some reviews from them. Their pricing is pretty competitive for cash payers.

  Purdue Global or SNHU
Posted by: upgrayedd - 04-24-2024, 08:42 PM - Forum: Graduate School Discussion - Replies (9)

I graduated last Summer with UMPI's BLS in Management and took a much needed break. I paid the UMPI tuition out-of-pocket and I can't afford to do that again. I'm now looking at Master's programs that my employer will pay $10k a year for, but there aren't many choices.

I'm trying to decide between two paths:

  • I have two years experience in social media marketing for a local radio station. It's fun, exciting and I get to be creative. I enjoy things like audience research and it's really satisfying to see the results of that in successful campaigns. However, this is a part-time gig and despite my experience, I have had zero luck finding full-time employment in this field. So one option that may help with this path would be a Master's in Marketing from SNHU.
  • I have twenty years experience in healthcare, at the same employer. My job involves direct patient care and while I'm good at it, this is something I no longer want to do. I'm considering a Master of Health Informatics offered by Purdue Global, because that field typically requires healthcare and electronic medical records experience which I have plenty of. Analytics isn't something that excites me, but I think I would have a better chance at employment with a less extreme career pivot than marketing.

From what I've read (outside of DF) opinions on both schools seem to be mixed. There are some strong negative opinions of Purdue Global not being a legitimate part of the Purdue system, re-branded Kaplan, etc. Again, I'm just looking at these two schools because they would be paid for. I want this last hurdle to result in a career change that I'm happier with and to not be a wasted effort.

  South College DBA

This thread is intended to document my DBA journey and hopefully answer any questions or help others on the way whenever possible. I expect time will be limited because I do work full time, volunteer, have 5 children, and am caring for a sick mother at the same time.
4/2024: Spoke to admissions, signed up. Keeping an eye out for enrollment links and the CBE orientation course.

How do I know which of my classes will transfer?
Posted by: mt_1994 - 04-24-2024, 04:24 PM - Forum: UMPI - University of Maine at Presque Isle Discussion - Replies (6)

I have a BA in computer science from TESU.  Have taken plenty of classes from Sophia/study.com as well as some community college.

I plan on going to UMPI to get a BA in Accounting.

How can I know which will transfer?  Is there any way to transfer credits to them to see what will transfer without enrolling since I plan to take as many courses at sophia and study.com again before enrolling.?
