Hey guys, I'm 41 years old and believe it or not, I'm looking to become a police officer. I found plenty of departments in the area where I'm moving (Lynchburg, VA) that will accept without an associates but I'd rather go in with something more than just a GED. I'd also like to eventually get a BA and possibly masters at some point in the future.
I would also consider a BA since I already have 29.5 credits but I'd like to finish in 12 to 18 months. I have the time to put into it.
Your Location: NY USA
Your Age: 41
What kind of degree do you want?: Associates in Criminal Justice or Psychology
Current Regional Accredited Credits:
Suffolk Community College in 2005-2006
Introduction to Computing - 4 credits
Standard Freshman Composition - 3 credits
Freshman Seminar - 1.5 Credits
Introduction to Psychology I - 3 credits
Technical Writing - 3 credits
Foundations of American History - 3 credits
Understanding Music - 3 credits
Introduction to Literature - 3 Credits
Abnormal Psychology - 3 credits
Ethics - 3 credits
Total - 29.5
GPA 3.0
Current ACE, CLEP, or NCCRS Credits:
None
Any certifications or military experience? None
Budget: 10K if I go for BA and probably around 2 to 4K if I go Associates

Commitments: I can commit 30 hours a week to studying/school
Dedicated time to study: 30 hours a week
Tuition assistance/reimbursement: None
Thank you all!!

As an update, I currently am at 71 credits with 15 planned through TESU this upcoming march. After completing the 15 credits, Ill have my first AS degree in Computer Science! (not much but still) Thank you for the help!
Now, it has been a minute since I last posted... Im still going for the full BA in Comp Sci. It was suggested I should go for the double degree. Is it still worth getting the Business Admin degree paired with the BA in Comp Sci through TESU? And how many credits in addition to the BA in CS do I need to take to get the double degree? Also, what should I tell my advisor when it comes to the dual degree? Like what do I tell them to get the dual degree? I believe the business degree is called the BS CIS now right? Attached is a list of my current credits too if that helps for my specific situation in determining what other classes Ill need to take for the Business Degree. Is there multiple BS Business degrees I could do?

Cheapest/Easiest Master's? Hellenic, WGU, UMPi? |

Hi Everyone!
I am putting together a spreadsheet of Master's options for my brother now that he has completed his UMPI BAS with/a minor in Info Sys and PM. The first concern is price, and the second concern is ease (I know this is highly dependent on the person, but I am generalizing here).
Here is the spreadsheet.
Options are Hellenic MBA, WGU MBA IT or UMPI MAOL.
I have a question regarding the Hellenic MBA; I know it is RA, but does the lack of business school accreditation affect it a lot, potentially for immigration purposes?
Which one would you choose and why? Thanks!

Hi -
Question from my son: For anyone who completed either or both of the SAS programmer certificates via Coursera (SAS Programmer Certificate, SAS Advanced Programmer Certificate) and transferred them into TESU, a couple of questions:
- For anyone doing the math associates, did both courses get applied to the Math AOS electives?
- For anyone doing the BACS, did the advanced certificate, which is identified as transferring as STA-399, get applied to the Computer Science electives?
Thanks.

Hey y'all! I noticed a few people are getting worried and feeling bad about themselves seeing all the "need to finish ASAP" or "so-and-so finished ASAP" posts. If you can accelerate, all power to you! But, please be supportive of those who don't have the luxury of extra time, or past-experience.
This is Your Path, this is YourPace.
Education is not a competition. In the fast-paced world we live in, there's often a rush to reach the finish line, especially when it comes to education. It's crucial to keep in mind, though, that education is a journey rather than a sprint. Recall that taking your time is not only acceptable but also advantageous for anyone navigating their educational journey.
It's Okay to be Unsure
Take a deep breath if you're having trouble deciding which degree to pursue or if you're feeling pressed for time. It's acceptable to explore and, if necessary, take further terms or semesters. You can go further into your hobbies during this period, which will help you make better judgments for the future.
Maximize your Opportunities
Pacing your education might have extra advantages for people receiving financial aid, such as the Pell Grant. Extending your education to include more terms, like winter and spring, may enable you to file for sizable annual tax credits. Financial strains can be reduced and your educational experience can be improved with this calculated approach. For Americans, this could be about $4,000 extra for your first BA!
This is Your Journey
Learning at your own speed is a wise tactic, not a drawback. It guarantees that you're genuinely acquiring, comprehending, and using your knowledge successfully rather than merely getting your schooling done quickly. In the end, what matters are your abilities and competency.
Thus, keep in mind that your pace is valid whether you're thinking about a competency-based program or any other kind of schooling. It's a sensible decision if you need to take things more slowly in order to maximize your experience or better manage your financial aid.

Hello guys,
A few questions regarding this course. I received an email that I got a 'scholarship' and was able to register for 2 TECEP examinations for free. I chose CIS-107. But when I check the Bookstore, there is no text available. So, basically, I have no idea what to study in order to prepare for the exam. When I go to myCourses, the course is not listed (however, it does show up in My Degree Schedule in SelfService).
If anyone could shed some light on what I need to / should do next, it would be very much apreciated.
Thank you!
