Hi everyone,

I thought y'all would enjoy the attached item. I think this should be the Official DANTES Dance once you receive your score and find out you PASSED! (Make sure you have your volume on.)

Enjoy! hilarious

  Updated Excelsior Exam Content Guides
Posted by: cederic824 - 08-10-2006, 05:57 PM - Forum: General Education-Related Discussion - Replies (1)

I just checked the Excelsior site, and the exam content guides have been updated. Most now quote chapter and verse for looking up objectives in the recommended texts. Very Nice. There is also a little time frame recommendation box to help you see how much time it should take.

Got my Ethics in America Score, In just 7 weeks!
Posted by: Basket Weaver - 08-10-2006, 03:05 PM - Forum: General Education-Related Discussion - Replies (6)

Yes, my friends, in just seven short weeks (44 days), that's all! At least it was a pass, just barely... with a whopping 48!! I used the IC for this and the UL Ethics Theory and Practice (I got a B on this one... figure that one out). Still pressing on with studying for World Pop, sure would be nice if there was more IC guides for the ECEs (hint hint). I have 4 more test results out there somewhere but God only knows how long those will take. It seems this process would be faster with all the technology we have available to us. Oh well, gotta get back to studying. Lee

  Fundamentals of Counseling
Posted by: Criticalthinker - 08-10-2006, 02:12 PM - Forum: General Education-Related Discussion - Replies (15)

I searched this, and saw that a few had taken it.
At this point, I'm planning on taking it tomorrow with Here's to your health.

They will be my first Dsst exams.

I took a practice exam this morning for Fundamentals, and it scared me to death. I scored 31 out of 50 and there was so much about theorists on it, as well as specific statistics regarding suicide, alcohol.

I'm not sure about this aspect either....I copied and pasted my answers on a word document, because I wasn't sure I could access my test score and answers again on the site the same way I do with practice Cleps.

Any new thoughts on this exam in general?

Also how do the getcollegecredit.com Peterson's practice tests compare to the real thing? There were only 50 questions. I would have to pay another 19.95 get another version of the test. Ack! I can take the one I took this morning again.

I thought I would be fine with this exam, because I have some counseling background, as well as an interest in the subject, plus have taken a lot of social science courses. I'm just not sure what to think. Feeling pretty jittery about it...lots of other life stuff going on too.

Just yell at me or something, not sure what I need here. I may be "weirding out" as I reach the end of my testing out road.

  foiled terrorist plot?

Luckily the Brits followed in Americas footsteps with a similar piece of legislation as the patriot act, or we would of potentially lost more lives today then in Pearl Harbor or September 11. What do you guys think about the foiled plot?

Psychology of Adulthood and Aging is UP
Posted by: sgloer - 08-09-2006, 05:07 PM - Forum: General Education-Related Discussion - Replies (38)

We've added materials for the Excelsior College Exam named Psychology of Adulthood and Aging. This should count for upper-level credit at most colelges that award credit for ECEs

Since this is one fo the first Excelsior exams we've made materials specifically for, we're anxious to hear your feedback, so please keep us posted on your results!

Next Up should be Gerontology ECE

Good luck....

Which English Comp to Take ?
Posted by: adrian - 08-09-2006, 09:40 AM - Forum: General Education-Related Discussion - Replies (2)

My college accepts either the Eng. Comp with essay and the one without. Which one is easier and other than the obvious what are the other differences ? Should I take the DANTES one or the CLEP ? Please share your experiences with me.

My other question is if I pass an exam but do not have the pre-req will my college still accepts it anyway ?

Thanks all.

  Dantes MIS and Excelsior MIS?
Posted by: bawhitsett - 08-08-2006, 03:56 PM - Forum: General Education-Related Discussion - Replies (1)

Has anyone used the Dantes MIS test to fulfill one of 6 "subject matter" classes required for a Bachelor's of MIS degree at Excelsior? Just trying to get my ducks in a row before officially enrolling, and to date no one with experience can answer this for me. Muchas gracias for any assistance anyone can provide.

Credit for Industry Certs Part II
Posted by: pavlc - 08-08-2006, 01:03 AM - Forum: Off Topic - Replies (17)

I just wanted to start this thread back up because the last one got a little side tracked.

All of you MSCE's and CCNA's and Comptia+'s have it easy! I'm RHCE and I can't find a school that grants credit for that cert. (I would like it to be worth 10,000 Applied Professional credits, but will settle for 2)

College credit for certification is a wonderful thing. I just wish I didn't have to wait (until next month) to get my CCNA to use it!
