Inquiry Regarding Equivalent Classes for Remaining UMPI Requirements
Posted by: asdfasd78 - 04-22-2024, 02:06 AM - Forum: UMPI - University of Maine at Presque Isle Discussion - Replies (5)

Dear Forum Members,
I hope this message finds you well. I am currently in the process of completing my remaining classes at UMPI in BLS Management and Political Science, and I'm seeking advice on equivalent courses that I can take to fulfill these requirements.
For the upcoming summer session 1, I have the following UMPI classes remaining:

  1. PHI152 - Introduction to Ethics

  2. PSYCHOLOGY

  3. ART108 - Graphic Design

  4. ENG151 - Intro to Literature or HUM1

  5. BIO105 - Biology for Everyday Life or HPR101 - Lifelong Wellness

  6. ENV110 - Intro to Environmental Science

  7. GEO101 - Human Geography or SOC100 - Intro to Sociology

  8. HTY116 - World Civilization II

  9. BUS260 - Leadership

  10. Operations Management

  11. PCJ215 - Business Communication
I'm eager to complete these courses during this session and have already accumulated over 30 credits at UMPI. Could you please advise me on which classes I can take that would be considered equivalent to the ones listed above?
Your guidance and suggestions would be greatly appreciated as I navigate through this process.
Thank you for your time and assistance.

Dear Forum Members,

I hope this message finds you well. I am currently exploring options for pursuing a Master's degree and would greatly appreciate any insights or experiences you can share regarding the programs at Oklahoma State University, Southern New Hampshire University (SNHU), and Emporia State University and Gies college iMSM program.

Specifically, I'm curious about the format of classes – are they predominantly paper-based assignments or quizzes? Additionally, how challenging are the courses? I'm keen to understand the learning process and how interactive it is, especially in an online setting.
Furthermore, I'm interested in any scholarship opportunities these universities may offer. Financial assistance would greatly aid my pursuit of higher education.

As a side note, I have some remaining classes at UMPI in BLS Management and Political Science, and I'm looking to seamlessly transition into a Master's program. If you have any alternative suggestions or recommendations for programs that align with my interests, I would be grateful to hear them. i am interested in digital marketing or marketing since I have my own online business and have 4 professional certificates in e-commerce and dig marketing .

Thank you in advance for your time and assistance.

Is there any way to enrol into the WGU MBA program as an international student?
Posted by: FM1 - 04-22-2024, 12:14 AM - Forum: Graduate School Discussion - Replies (10)

I need to get an MBA as a chech box qualification so not concerned with getting an MBA with a top tier school but do want an accredited MBA thats reasonably cheap that I can knock out in 6 - 12 months. WGU meets all those requirements so trying to enrol into their MBA program but they don't accept international students. I'm trying to work out if there is some sort of workaround I can use to enrol.

Hmm, sounds like a Terminator movie is coming out sooner than I thought... Oh wait, this is AI... not robotics, err... Anyways, this AI technology advancement seems interesting, probably a good thing if some country wants to use it for protection against an invasion of another (ahem, Russia, ahem)...

  Retaking ETS proficiency
Posted by: varp58 - 04-21-2024, 02:53 AM - Forum: TESU - Thomas Edison State University Discussion - Replies (2)

I messed up and waited until last minute to schedule E-Proficiency Profile. Moodle says it is due by end of day 4/21/24. There is one option to take exam at 11:40 pm AKST (Alaska, where I live) later today (04/21/24), but Moodle runs on EST (East Coast).

This is the second time I am taking my Capstone course, and so I have my proficiency profile from a year ago. Does any one know if I can submit last years score? Any other suggestions?

  Inappropriate Behavior from Moderator

Is it appropriate for a moderator to post politically divisive baiting and trolling content every day? When someone calls him out on it, is it okay for him to delete complaints so no one will see them? Maybe I should directly message the administrators of this forum.

  Resign before getting fired...
Posted by: bjcheung77 - 04-20-2024, 07:50 PM - Forum: General Education-Related Discussion - Replies (4)

Just curious, what are the benefits of resigning before getting fired? Do they get a chance to get re-hired at a different school or something outside the city or county, even state? I would hate to see such a teacher evade charges or get re-hired elsewhere just because he knows loopholes in the educational system...

My daughter 12 goes to grade 6, she's fine, not bullied or anything, she's pretty good with everyone including teachers, but my son (10.5 years of age) in grade 5 is different, he needs extra help most of the time with a support teacher, he also gets bullied... I know how parents will feel when something like this happens, just sad...

Information applying for OMSCS with indian online degree
Posted by: MJREM - 04-20-2024, 10:02 AM - Forum: Degree Planning Advice - Replies (5)

Hello,

I'm an international student from Africa, I hold a BSc in Computer Science from Uopeple,  and now I'm looking to apply for the OMSCS program but they accept only Regional Degrees.

so I thought to work around this by getting an online Master's degree from universities like Manipal, Amrita, Amity, Symbiosis, Jain, LPU ..etc

or postgraduate diploma from iiqf.org

just for the sake of getting a degree to apply for the OMSCS and for my application to be considered.

also, I thought of online Indian universities because of the fees i can get the degree for less than 4k which is what I can afford.

Full Information about my Education History:

  •     I completed 21 credits at a local Open university, and I evaluated those credits using scholars.com service to transfer it to Uopeople
  •     i completed some courses at Sophia.org
  •     i completed some credit courses at Coursera (Google IT + IBM Professional )

Studying my Options:

so i have communicated with the OMSCS admission office and asked them if I will be considered if I apply with Master Degree International University, and their response :
" If the school where you earned your master's is regionally accredited or is the equivalent of regionally accredited as we call it in the US, then yes, you would be eligible."

The issue is I'm not sure how can I know whether this international university is regionally accredited or not (by USA standards)

I found good cheap options with fees under 4,000$ like Manipal University, O.P Jindal University, and more universities that are accredited by the Ministry of High Education in India.

universities like WGU are not an option for me because I'm not from USA or Canada

So what do you think will work for me, are there any possibilities?

  Help with ENEB
Posted by: David1477 - 04-20-2024, 09:05 AM - Forum: Graduate School Discussion - Replies (12)

Hi!

I don't quite have the time and patience to read through all the 274 pages about ENEB, so I hope you can help me.  Angel

Situation:

I am currently doing my BSc in BA at UoPeople. I now have 99/120 credits and will graduate within the next year (3.9 GPA atm)

I live in Belarus and don't plan on working in academia/government jobs.

I have some leftover time to study and would love to already use that towards a masters degree.

I got a 50% scholarship from UoPeople and transfered in 90 credits from Sophia, so I will manage to get my Bachelors for roughly 1.200$, which I am very happy with.

Regarding a masters degree, the only really affordable option I found was WorldQuant University. I suck at math and programming and don't particularly like either of them very much, so that program seems to be a bad fit.

An MBA at UoPeople costs 4.800$, Nexford costs roughly 4.000$, RA accredited US online MBAs and online MBAs from the UK start from around 10k$.

Regarding the quality of education and the value on the job market, I feel like, in my current situation, I will get the highest ROI from an ENEB MBA. Employers here won't know either of these schools and whether I have an MBA from UoPeople, Eastern University, or ENEB will probably make such a small difference that it doesn't make up for the price difference.

Now regarding ENEB:

As I understood it: I could sign up for the ENEB MBA for something like 260 Euros via the ambassador link. Then I would get access to the courses and could start studying.

If I want the test version of the MBA, I need to pay something like 400 Euros. If I just do the assignments, there seem to be no additional costs.

1. I read that some people joined eneb without a completed bachelors degree, so can I just buy the program and start now, as long as I finish the MBA after I completed my BSc in BA ?

2. If I just buy the ambassador link and work through the courses and assignments until I finished them all, I can then choose to buy an official transcript and degree certificate from Universidad Isabel 1, right?

3. So, ultimately, I would just pay the 260 Euros + maybe 300-500 Euros for the transcript and Isabel 1 degree, or are there any other costs I should plan for if I do the assignment based version?

4. If it ever becomes relevant to me in the future, this transcript and Isabel 1 degree could then be sent to a US evaluation agency to obtain RA graduate credit that I could transfer into a US MBA program, or is that not possible anymore?

5. In addition to this: within the European Union, ENEB credits count as official credits for a masters degree, just the degree itself does not count as a masters degree, so if I would like to do a masters program in the EU I could potentially use these 60 ECTS as well?

6. How much time do I have to complete the ENEB MBA ? If I don't manage to do it in this time (for example because my graduation from UoPeople somehow takes longer), what would be the price to extend my study period?

---

I hope someone here digged through all of the ENEB discussion and is willing to help me, so I can understand all of these details and make the right decision.

  Computer Science Degree Help
Posted by: Ad Nauseam - 04-19-2024, 11:23 PM - Forum: WGU - Western Governors University Discussion - Replies (5)

Hello everyone,

I made a thread here a few days ago inquiring about a teaching degree, but after speaking to a counselor and some friends, I believe I should do computer science instead. luckily my thread wasn’t responded to yet. I studied HTML, CSS, and JavaScript full time for about 6 months, but also have some limited knowledge of Java from the Helsinki course. Yet to be completed, but I believe working in the back end is much more suited to me. Below I’ll post the addendum with my info.

https://degreeforum.miraheze.org/wiki/WG...egree_Plan This is the path I plan to take. I also called WGU and started my enrollment. Am I supposed to do that now or later since there’s so much SDC and Sophia left to do? I’m looking into aid as well. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Your Location: Hawaii(Oahu), United States.
Your Age: 27
What kind of degree do you want?: I’d like a career as a software engineer. As stated above, I have some knowledge to work with already. Conditionals, loops, ASYNCHRONOUS/await, event delegation, etc. I completed all of the courses by Jonas Schmedtman and created all the projects. I do think I’d like it better working in the back end though as design is not really for me. Maybe working with SQL databases would be better. In any case, I’d be looking to learn more Java and overall computer science topics.
Current Regional Accredited Credits: None.

Current ACE, CLEP, or NCCRS Credits:

Sophia Credits: 24
Ancient Greek Philosophers, 3, 100%

English Composition 1, 3, 89%
Introduction to Business, 3, 88%
Introduction to Ethics, 3, 88%
Introduction to Information Technology, 3, 83%
Introduction to Nutrition, 3, 93%
Introduction to Sociology, 3, 92%
Introduction to Web Development, 3, 83%

Any certifications or military experience? None.

Budget: I have about $5k saved, but my expenses are very low since I catch the bus, live in a cheaper area, and don’t ever spend money on anything. I invested a good amount of money into original magic art, but have slowed down almost to a stop recently as I have a decently large inventory. That being said, I can afford to be a lot more flexible here. My monthly discretionary income is around $1500. I’d like to finish as soon as I can. That’s my number one priority, but if the cost would be a lot more while only saving me a small amount of time, I’d save the money instead. I like the idea of WGU allowing you to blow through as many credits as you can in a semester. My budget and schedule would work well with that.

Commitments: I work full time, but that’s it. I have plenty of time left in the day after work as it’s only half my day.

Dedicated time to study: I think a reasonable amount of study for me would be 40 hours per week across 7 days. I used to study Vanilla JavaScript more than that weekly for 6 months, so I know I can commit the time.

Timeline: Finishing the courses required for the degree as fast as possible would be ideal. However long this will take is fine with me.

Tuition assistance/reimbursement: None. I’ve gotten student aid before, but I was 19 years old and flunked out. Just wasn’t ready back then. I had no goals and wasn’t focused. Not sure if I can get anymore aid after that.

I like the idea of testing out. Most of the Sophia courses I’ve taken were finished the same day or in a few days. I don’t think there’s a class out there that would require me to spend months and months on learning the material. I’m also okay with assignments and assessments too. English comp had me write a bunch of papers. I’m also 90% of the way through public speaking which also had me do projects.
