ISIC or similar (Student Card Benefits)
Posted by: bjcheung77 - 09-02-2024, 12:00 PM - Forum: Free Courses and Certificates and Good Deals - Replies (17)

Basically, I got the ISIC Student Card through ENEB and now have some benefits and discounts... I've have been a student for a long time, and rarely do I use any benefits... But, I just looked at the benefits and WOW! I didn't know students had so many discounts...  Anyone think of anything else that may be useful for other type of student discounts?

Member Perks: https://isic.memberperks.us/ - Benefits: https://isicusa.com/benefits/ - Insurance: https://isicusa.com/coverage/
For those who travel often, they've got you covered with Insurance... (I use my credit card and it gives 2 weeks travel coverage)
There are a few others, I am going to check out the airfare discount options and see what they have... Please add/update us...

Distance Learning Day and Labor Day
Posted by: Charles Fout - 09-02-2024, 07:04 AM - Forum: Off Topic - No Replies

So.. Apparently yesterday was Distance Learning Day. Today is Labor Day

Happy  (belated) Distance Learning Day and Labor Day to all!

I am a Babylon 5 fan so to entertain myself I refer to everyone who is not retired as "the Mundane"Big Grin

Wishing a special Happy Labor Day to all of my Mundane colleagues!

I'm loving life with my University of Chicago Graham School projects. EWhich will be my complete Distance Learning focus for the foreseeable future  except for the occasional FREE content elsewhere, such as the Gandhi-King-Global-Academy. Heart

Which school has the most integrity when it comes to the program
Posted by: MondoCat - 09-01-2024, 07:16 PM - Forum: General "Big 3", B&M colleges, and other colleges - Replies (2)

Ive heard a lot of nightmare stories of teachers not showing up, of syllabuses not matching what is due, etc, and i experienced it in one IRL "online" class where the teacher was not even a real teacher, and changed the assignement requirements AFTER it was due, and other misc bs.

Which online schools have integrity, where the teacher shows up, knows their stuff, makes everything very clear, has assignments, grades them fairly, move on with our life?

I dont have the time and patience to be writing to the Dean about a teacher gone rogue.

Hey, let me introduce my self. Im a foreign student (from Mexico) and I did 4 years of medicine school here but didn't finish my degree. Now I',m really interested in finishing a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration – Supply Chain Management Concentration at UMPI as I saw you can do it at your own pace. For that I was planning on transfer as much credits as possible. So I would really appreciate if someone could help me double check this Degree Plan

Question Help with BA of Psych (likely Excelsior)
Posted by: misterl - 09-01-2024, 04:50 PM - Forum: Degree Planning Advice - Replies (18)

Hi everyone! Late 40's student looking to finally get my degree...

I am trying to use CLEP exams to get as close as possible to a BA in Psychology (my intention is then to proceed to another university to get a masters). My understanding is currently Excelsior accepts more CLEP exams than TESU or COSU, so that might be the way to go.

Can someone help me figure out which university is the best choice and also which CLEP exams I need to take in order to get a Psychology degree? I have gone through the Wiki and the forums, but I'm still not quite clear on exactly which exams to take and how best to move forward.

Thanks in advance for your help!

EDIT: Updated to include pertinent information below:

Your Location: Austin, TX
Your Age: 47
What kind of degree do you want?: Bachelor of psychology
Current Regional Accredited Credits: None
Current ACE, CLEP, or NCCRS Credits: Just completed first CLEP (Analyzing & Interpreting Literature)
Any certifications or military experience?: No
Budget: Flexible, trying to spend as little as possible
Commitments: Just my partner. I'm currently self-employed part-time, work from home, so have plenty of time to study
Dedicated time to study: Flexible, some study most days
Timeline: Trying to obtain Bachelor of Psychology in approximately 1 year.
Tuition assistance/reimbursement: None.

  English requirements + info needed
Posted by: alexeo_13 - 09-01-2024, 01:10 PM - Forum: TESU - Thomas Edison State University Discussion - Replies (31)

Hello first I hope I am doing this correctly, second I thank you all who will read my inquiry.

Your Location: Germany (originally north africa)
Your Age: 24
Last obtained degree: two years computer science university degree, could be considered in other places as a vocational training diploma (maybe there is a process to transform into credits).
What kind of degree do you want?: Initially I was looking into the OMSCS but that requires a bachelor then I found WGU but since i am in europe I can't sign up, So I would say I would prefer to directly be able to sign up to a master degree in computer science, if bachelor is required then I am open to doing that of course.
Budget: max of $9K. I'd like to go the cheapest route possible
Commitments: Full time job as a developer.
Dedicated time to study: I estimate at least 1.5 hours every week night and on the weekends, maybe 4 hours, total would be roughly 16 hours or slightly more.
Timeline: if a bachelor less than a year, master I am open to more than a year (the faster the better).
Tuition assistance/reimbursement: None.
Other Information: If relevant I will be doing this along with friend in a similar boat.

Technically coursera does offer some master program with no degree requirements for example, but for now that exceeds my budget, Another option was IU but reviews were not all positive and it's a three year bachelor so I don't know if it will be accepted.
Note: for the english requirements if there is a way to take credits and by pass the english test please kindly tell me.
Again I thank you for the help.

Seeking Advice on SOS-1100 and Business Capstone (BUS-4210)
Posted by: ExcellentPhoto - 08-31-2024, 03:08 PM - Forum: TESU - Thomas Edison State University Discussion - Replies (9)

Hi All,

I will be taking my two required TESU courses during the October term to complete my degree, and registration just opened up. I am seeking advice/input on what the best course of action would be, and am curious if anyone has any recommendations as to the best instructors. I have not taken a course at TESU before. My options are as follows:

BUS-4210:

 • Guided Study with Timothy P. Kenny
 • Online with Bari L. Courts
SOS-1100 (all are Online):
 • Dr. Patrick M. McKiernan
 • Dr. Nickolas H. Dominello
 • Dr. Donna J. Duellberg
 • David Bradnick
 • John Bradley
 • Dale F. Coye
 • Victoria L. Hallberg
 • Jamey J. Heit
 • Jill Legare
 • Michele L. Herrera
Thanks in advance for any responses!

PS - This forum has been an invaluable tool in my journey to complete my degree. I definitely wouldn't have been able to finish my BSBA (knock on wood) so quickly without the inputs of the members and moderators of this forum, and the DegreeForum Wiki. I am deeply grateful to everyone who has contributed to DegreeForum and made this possible.
