Utah Eccles Master of Business Creation (MBC) |

The University of Utah David Eccles School of Business offers a Master of Business Creation (MBC) degree it describes as “business accelerator meets business degree.”
The MBC is offered in both an on-campus and an online format. The online format lasts three semesters and looks to be asynchronous or close as to meeting times, although "all courses are taken with a cohort of founders progressing through the program together."
The application process not only screens each student but screens the suitability for the program of each student’s for-profit or non-profit enterprise, using a pitch deck, a video pitch essay, and questions to assess the enterprise.
"The MBC is exclusively for founders committed to achieving operating independence by the time they complete the program. […] Courses in the program are designed to help working entrepreneurs who need help on real startup problems now. Founders can immediately apply what they learn in class to their startup. […] Founders in the program not only learn from their experience starting an enterprise, they also observe their colleagues’ startup efforts in detail and have an opportunity to learn from a variety of challenges and solutions across their entire cohort."
Recent graduates from the on-campus format lead startups "from cardiac imaging and trucking software to vintage sneakers and pickleball." An FAQ describes enterprises that are or are not good fits with the MBC. "If you have revenue, you're probably ready. If you don’t have revenue, we look for work you’ve done to validate your idea: prototyping, beta testing, market validation, competitive studies, legal entity formation." Less good fits include professional practices based on billed hours and "many personal-service businesses, including restaurants and retail shops."
Tuition is $15,000, and “full and partial scholarships are available to all founders who enroll in the program.”
Funding opportunities for the enterprises may also be available arising out of the MBC community.
Only some international locations are eligible, but the program is working to expand eligible locations. Eccles recently announced a new MBC Africa cohort. "Sponsorship to cover tuition costs will be awarded to all founders enrolling in the MBC Africa program in fall 2024."
Eccles and the program are accredited by the AACSB.

Hey all. I’m hopefully enrolling soon. My question has anyone been successful in transferring all 113 credits for the B.S Liberal Arts degree? I’m looking at bringing in Sophia credits mostly. Does anyone have experience in courses not officially listed on the Sophia Transfer chart from excelsior? These can be LL. Are the Lawshelf platform courses particularly difficult? I’m potentially needing 1-2 of those courses. Oh I also have a 200ish Fiction course from a brick & motor that can possibly used from an UL (it has elsewhere). Also, does Excelsior routinely give credits for an UL course completed elsewhere that was 6cc.
My second inquiry is that has anyone taken the cornerstone, capstone, and information literacy courses at Excelsior? Are these difficult per se? That is to say is it pretty easy to make a C in these classes w/out over excursion.

Hi everyone,
Looking towards starting a second bachelors degree because why not? Anyways have been talking with TESU admissions and wanted to see if anyone can give me insight or confirm that I don't need to take any additional courses at TESU and that I can take them all through Study.com and Sophia.
Below is the email from admissions counsler...
..."When you say RA do you mean residency requirement hours? If I am understanding correctly then it would be 15 hours or 5 courses.
According to your academic program you have 28 hours, roughly 9 courses, so you are good.
Additionally please note if you are thinking you would like to take standardized exams, CLEP, DSST, TCEP, the exams go toward degree requirements they do NOT count toward residency requirements. ..."
Thank you in advance !

Current ACE, CLEP, or NCCRS Credits:
Provider Total Credits: 71 from sophia and 43 (I think) from coursera along with assorted teex credits because I am currently going through their cybersecurity series
Budget: I think I could comfortably afford up to 5k out of pocket

Dedicated time to study: I can study as much as is needed during the night or weekends and my job is about 5 hours of downtime a day. But for context, I finished all the Sophia classes below in 25 days.

I am clearly considering the UMPI degree, I was thinking about getting the BAS in information systems, project management and accounting minors. But does anyone know if I could possibly get BBA in accounting and the BBA in project management and information systems? My concern is that a minor in information systems wont get me into the GT program or get me into entry level jobs.
Another question is, I have 5 days left in my Sophia membership, what other classes should I take? I am currently waiting on my touchstone to be graded for Business Law, any other recommendations? Thanks!

Hello. I'd like to earn a secondary master's like generic MBA from WGU. I already have MSN in healthcare administration and management. Which courses satisfy WGU requirement for MBA from Sophia, EdX, Study.com etc? I'd like to possibly take additional courses over the summer to finishing degree sooner. Thanks for your help!
