Brown’s online master’s footing bill at expense of reputation
Posted by: smartdegree - 10-26-2025, 08:42 AM - Forum: Graduate School Discussion - Replies (2)

Nice article written by a Brown student.

I think it is fair to say that most elite universities treat their online masters as "cash cows".

Qualifi Level 7 Cyber — Grad Credit or Master’s
Posted by: msmjj01 - 10-25-2025, 02:48 AM - Forum: Graduate School Discussion - Replies (2)

I’m looking at the Qualifi Level 7 Diploma in Cyber Security because it’s way cheaper than doing full grad courses in the US.

Does anyone know if a NACES evaluation can turn that Level 7 diploma into graduate-level credits that I could transfer to a US university?

Thanks for any info or real experiences.

Question Fastest Plan for any Bachelor's at Any School
Posted by: Chasingthedream - 10-25-2025, 12:20 AM - Forum: Degree Planning Advice - Replies (12)

Your Location

  • US (Los Angeles)
Your Age
  • 35
What kind of degree do you want?
  • Any bachelor's degree
Current Regional Accredited Credits:
  • Credits from 2 CCs (SACSCOC & WASC accredited) and 1 University (Higher Learning Commission)
Current ACE, CLEP, or NCCRS Credits
  • No
Any certifications or military experience?
  • No
Budget
  • $2000
Commitments:
  • Work
Dedicated time to study
  • 40+ (I'm locked in!)
Timeline
  • I'd like to finish in 3-4months
Tuition assistance/reimbursement
  • No

What I have:  My criteria for the university would be:
  • accept credits as much as it possible
  • self-paced, instead of traditional deadlines;
  • competency-based if possible (NAU's PL program were mostly essay format)
  • SPEED
  • I'm open to any university that is regionally accredited.
  • The cheaper the plan the better, but not for sake of speed. Speed is highest priority.
More context:
  • I'm looking to finish my bachelor's in ANY subject/major, as my goal is to apply to a graduate level program next year and their only prerequisite is an undergraduate degree in ANY subject/major.
  • My actual work experience for the past 10 years has been in HR and most recently as Chief People Officer if that helps in any way for those competency-based plans.
  • Would appreciate any help in helping me narrow down my options and give me a quick path to complete a bachelor's as quickly as possible.
TIA!

WGU - The Best Option for B.S. Cybersecurity - BSCSIA?
Posted by: reliant-robin - 10-24-2025, 02:51 PM - Forum: WGU - Western Governors University Discussion - Replies (3)

Hello,

Between industry certifications and ACE credits, I will have 89 credits that are transferrable toward the WGU BSCSIA by early next year.

While I am nearly certain that I will enroll in WGU's BSCSIA program next year, I wanted to check to see if there are other, similar options that this forum recommends.

Transferability of certifications is what initially interested me in WGU, so I am curious if other programs accept certs for credit.

ESPN Article on Virginia University of Lynchburg Dragons Coach
Posted by: Dr_Chirp - 10-24-2025, 01:00 PM - Forum: Off Topic - Replies (2)

I like the DHA program from VUL, but the administration's professionalism is sorely lacking. Unaswered e-mails, phone messages, open complaints from other grads, etc and now we're seeing an inside view how they work. The football team doesn't have a stadium and coach Doe Edwards has posted for years on his X account the Dragon's mismangement and poor treatment of the players. Ashame their degree program is tarnished by their footballl program.

  Jacksonville State DA in English
Posted by: Jonathan Whatley - 10-23-2025, 07:53 PM - Forum: Doctorate Degree Discussion - Replies (1)

Jacksonville State University in Jacksonville, Alabama is developing an online Doctor of Arts (DA) in English. JSU’s current doctorates are a competitive 450 to 500 per semester hour. (Their only online doctorates currently are in emergency management and in nursing.)

The Chanticleer Wrote:English Department Head Raina Kostova said the Doctor of Arts in English degree will be offered completely online. Kostova said students are not required to have a master’s degree to begin the program, meaning undergraduates can transition directly into the doctoral program upon graduation.

Kostova said the degree has been in development for the past two years. Former English Department Chair Andrea Porter began the initial research before Kostova became the department head a year ago.

Trustees approve two new degree programs (AnnaKate Freeland, The Chanticleer [Jacksonville State University student newspaper], October 21, 2025)

What type of credits are TECEP counted as?
Posted by: gingersnaplamb - 10-23-2025, 12:50 PM - Forum: TESU - Thomas Edison State University Discussion - Replies (4)

Hello everyone!

Currently I am a student at TESU, with my first term ending this Sunday. At the end of this term, I will have 100 credits, 9 coming from community college and 79 coming from ACE sources such as Sophia and Coursera. I am also currently finishing up a Study.com course which will give me three more credits, as an ACE source. This upcoming term I will be taking 2 regular TESU courses and 2 TECEP exams. Will the TECEP exams count as the ACE credit sources which are capped at 90? I was hoping that I could take the final two courses needed to graduate through Study.com, but I am concerned that these would not be counted as I am near the maximum ACE credits allowed, if the TECEP exams count as ACE sources.

Thank you for your help!

  Health Informatics
Posted by: lkdb87 - 10-23-2025, 11:13 AM - Forum: Graduate School Discussion - Replies (5)

Hello,

I'm looking for recommendations for an online, asynchronous master's program in Health Informatics with a total cost as close to $10,000 as possible. I've looked at a few different health informatics programs, but the tuition is astronomical (to me at least, I'm a WGU grad so I'm spoiled).

I'd also be open to MHA or MSIT programs that have a health informatics concentration. Currently Amberton University's MHA program with their grad cert in Healthcare Informatics is looking like a good option, but I'm wanting to explore other options too.

Thank you!

  How are transfer credits counted?
Posted by: cljrmccoy - 10-22-2025, 03:17 PM - Forum: TESU - Thomas Edison State University Discussion - Replies (4)

I'm hoping to transfer the 24 RA credits, but I'm curious how they count them. At my local CC, Eng 1A is a 4-unit course, but it looks like it's 3 at TESU. Will this count as 4 or 3 towards the 24? I will also be transferring in some 4-unit foreign language courses. Will those count as 4 or 3 towards the 24?

Thank you!
