Budget: I really dont have anything saved, so I would have to take a loan. I do not qualify for any aid.
Commitments: 1 kid, full time job, work from home 3 days a week. I also play pickleball one day a week.
Dedicated time to study: I can do work when I am working from home, as well as nights and weekends. I did alot of work on Sophia in this timeframe.
Tuition assistance/reimbursement: My workplace only has 15% off Liberty University, which is still expensive. I can save $100 a credit at Excelsior because I have taken Sophia courses and I was offered $500 off for each semester, up to 4 at WGU.

America's Top Online Colleges 2024 (Newsweek)
Quote:For the third consecutive year, Newsweek has collaborated with the respected global data firm Statista to unveil America's Top Online Colleges and America's Top Online Learning Providers 2024. These rankings are based on a survey of over 9,000 online learners, as well as our research about the institutions.
In our effort to find America's Top Online Colleges, we evaluated and ranked 200 colleges and universities that offer online undergraduate and graduate programs. The awarded institutions have been given either five stars, denoting an aggregate score surpassing the median of all recognized institutions, or four stars, signifying a score just below that threshold.
This is the first I heard of this. It is nice to see some non-traditional colleges (e.g. Ashworth College, Western Governors University) make the list. Excelsior made it in 2022 and 2023 and WGU all three years.

The First 3-Year Degree Programs Win Approval (Inside Higher Ed)
Quote:Three-year bachelor’s degrees are coming to Brigham Young University–Idaho and affiliated Ensign College next year [2024], following approval of the truncated programs by an accrediting body. By eliminating electives, BYU-Idaho will bring five three-year programs online in April: applied business management, family and human services, software development, applied health, and professional studies. Ensign will offer two such programs: communication and information technology. [...]
The Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities approved the seven programs—each of which requires between 90 and 94 credit hours instead of the standard 120—at its June meeting and sent a formal approval letter late last month.
I have not heard much about this discussed here and it is already being advertised by BYU Pathway Worldwide for April 2024. Thoughts?
I also found this press release from APU about their own 3-year bachelor's program.
American Public University System Launches Accelerated Bachelor of Science Degree in Cybersecurity as Part of "College in 3" Initiative
Quote:American Public University System (APUS) today announced it will offer an accelerated Bachelor of Science Degree in Cybersecurity, in connection with the College in 3 Exchange. Students can register for the three-year bachelor's degree starting in April 2024. [...]
"We are excited to be among the first universities to offer a 90-credit bachelor's degree under this innovative approach with the College in 3 Exchange," said Dr. Elizabeth Johnson, [...]
The accelerated degree has been approved by both the West Virginia Higher Education Policy Commission and the Higher Learning Commission (HLC), an institutional accreditation agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. [...]
Under the accelerated program, students will take the same required cybersecurity courses they would in a traditional program – with the same program outcomes. Only electives have been eliminated from the three-year, 90-credit program.
Eliminating electives makes sense if you want to realistically accelerate it and if more colleges move to this style of degree that is only 30 more credits instead of 60 needed to finish past an associate's degree.

Strategies to aquire 18 credits and teach |

Hi. I just finished the Cybersecurity masters at WGU. Might want to teach/adjunct different topics in the future. Other than a full masters per topic, what are some clever (hopefully inexpensive) ways to acquire the 18 credit hours required to teach? Is regional accreditation required (vs NA, State, etc...)? It looks like edX doesn't award until you've been accepted in a full program-so dead end. The next idea is Graduate Certificates -thoughts? I'm thinking the UCLA Extension Post-MBA. General topics I like and could possibly teach: Technology/Psychology/Philosophy/Religion-Spirituality/Business.
I know there's little or no money from the job (esp in the beginning). This would be more a labor of love or retirement thing. Probably won't entertain K-12.
Thank you

What have I done! Bio 105 |

So, I am currently taking Bio 105. I know, I know... I have read everything after doing so. I just started on 1/29, but I haven't gotten passed Milestone 1 now. I thought this would be easy because I work in a high school and have pushed into several Biology classes (we have even done the owl pellet dissection). But I am worried that I won't have the time to finish. My Milestone 1 has been returned twice. I'm also concerned about this pictures of 10 animals part. I live in southern California and you don't want to be taking pictures of the animals around here, you want to run... (coyotes, skunks, rattlesnakes, mountain lions, lizards...). Any helpful advice? Not sure I can drop this class and do Sophia... I was also willing to take this class because my employer will pay a stipend the more credits I earn, but only from regionally accredited universities, not something like Sophia.
Thanks for any help!
