Hello everyone.
I work in IT as a Service Desk Specialist. I want to join UMPI but saw that they don't have a Major in IT / CS.
However, they do have a Bachelor of Liberal Studies – Management Information Systems Minor.
My question is how would this look on my actual Diploma? Will it show both the Major and Minor? Like this
--> "Bachelor of Liberal Studies – Management Information Systems Minor" Or
will it only show the Major? Like this --> "Bachelor of Liberal Studies"
Do you have other course suggestions based on my criteria?
Thanks in advance.
Location: Paris, France
Age:40
What kind of degree do you want?: IT degree/ Computer Science. I am also open for suggestions.
Current Regional Accredited Credits: Zero
School Name Total Credits # N/A
Class Name, Credits, Grade n/a
Current ACE, CLEP, or NCCRS Credits: Zero
Provider Total Credits: #
Class Name, Credits, Grade
Any certifications or military experience? CompTia A+, CompTia Security+, Google Cybersecurity, Google IT Support Professional Certificate
Budget: I have a max of $2K saved up. I'd like to go the cheapest route possible.
Commitments: Honestly, just me, no kids/spouse. I am currently unemployed so I can work on my studies full time and on the weekends.
Dedicated time to study: I can study as much as is needed during the night or weekends as my schedule is free. I estimate at least 10 to 14 hours every day of the week and on the weekends.
Timeline: Finishing the courses required for the degree as fast as possible would be ideal. I would like to finish within (3 months).
Tuition assistance/reimbursement: I get no assistance whatsoever.
I prefer competency based education (because I like assessments, assignments and have test anxiety).
I am from France so I get no fianancial aid, not grants or scholarships.

GED to Executive |

What kind of degree do you want?: I just want to "tick a box" for future promotions with a quick and easy bachelor (or even associate to start). If I had to choose something geared towards my career goals, then Executive Management, Computer Science, or Business Administration would be it, but open to "targeted" or general degree suggestions. I'd like to progress my career into an executive management role, maybe C-Suites. I suck at typing papers though.

Any certifications or military experience?
• Google IT Support Certificate
• Microsoft Office Specialist: Word Expert (Office 2016)
• CompTIA IT Fundamentals (ITF+) Certification
• CompTIA Security+ ce Certification
• Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt
• Certified SAFe® 5 Scrum Master
• Not sure if expired certs count, but previously had ACE personal training cert and was a licensed/certified Realtor.
ADDENDUM: I'm a high-school drop out in a Senior (and technical) role at a Fortune 500, with nothing but a GED and Certificates. Looking to go into an executive role.
Im best at testing with multiple choices, maybe look into converting previous work experience (started many companies, been a director, sat on a government board, did several other things). Dropped out of high-school senior year to open a company. I was a bad/unmotivated student. Worst subjects were math and english (writing papers).
Budget: I'm temporarily in a negative net income situation due to "worst case scenario" occuring (outside of me losing my job) so I have nothing immediately available until my situation is fully mitigated (work in progress).
Commitments: dogs/animals/plants, sleep, partner, rental home fix/flip, volunteering, sitting on a board of a university to develop their CX program (while taking their course), gym/workout, work, family assitance, home maintenance, cooking, cleaning, organizing (in the middle of moving). Those are all time constraints. I can still manage to spare an hour week nights to study and a few hours during week days to take tests.
Timeline: ASAP, but managing expectations dependant on my path (easy and quick degree vs. a degree that's targeted towards my career aspirations).
Tuition assistance/reimbursement: I think work may cover up to 10k yearly, but with the current financial climate, I would like to only use what I truly need... it's complicated but the company has a cost reduction 2024 priority, so albeit I can't fathom retaliation, it's part of my "keep my own job" strategy.

Budget: Nothing truly strict, but I would like to optimize and spend as little as needed while accelerating. I would spend more on acceleration if needed.
Commitment: Work 30-40 hours a week but my job is low stress.
Dedicated Time to Study: I can study anywhere from 3-5 hours on weekdays, more on weekends.
Timeline: I would like to accelerate as much as is reasonable given my previous information.

Hi everyone, I am seeking a degree in Computer Science. My initial plan was to attend WGU for a BS in Information Technology, then changing my mind to Cybersecurity and finally Computer Science. I am completely committed to a Computer Science degree and after researching on the forum I'm considering going with TESU. From what I've gathered TESU has more potential for credit transfers and acceleration, and doesn't require Discrete Math II compared to WGU. I've put together a Google Sheet with my tentative plan but I'm still unsure of the transfer of some of the classes, most of my template came from the BSBA CIS Double Degree Plan from the Wiki. Can anyone advise me on my outline and if there's anything I'm missing? From my understanding, TESU will accept up to 90 credits from outside sources like Study and Sophia, but I've also seen some other information that had to do with the residential tuition that I don't completely understand.
I hope the information listed above was adequately detailed.

Is an academic certificate a degree for the purposes of "new" credits? Am I screwed? |

I completed three online classes in C++ at Washtenaw Community College, which is one of two introductory programming sequences (Intro, Objects, Data Structures). Because I did this, I was automatically awarded their "Advanced Certificate in C++ Programming", a standalone academic certificate. I knew this going into it, and the extra credential was one of the reasons I chose to get my intro classes done this way.
I was aware of the 24 new credit requirement for the BACS. I figured I could still meet the requirement, even with earning the certificate, under the assumption that I was earning an extra certificate, not an extra degree. Notably, TESU does not yet know that I earned the certificate, because I sent my transcripts from WCC as soon as the final grade for my last class was posted (which I do for all of my transcripts), but before WCC processed the auto award. I didn't bother to tell them because I didn't think it mattered.
I had not worried about this until recently, when I gathered my materials for my OMSCS application. My unofficial WCC transcript slaps a big ol' "Degree Awarded" above my "Advanced Certificate", replete with a "Degree Date" and everything. This has me worried that my assumption was wrong, and that certificates are degrees, somehow.
I can lose the 12 WCC credits being after my most recent degree, but I also completed my SDC and Sophia courses in the gaps between my WCC classes, and I'd lose those too, meaning I'd be down to 14 credits new to a degree. Since I have a first BA already, and already put in my OMSCS application, I would basically give up on the BACS entirely. If certificates are degrees, I certainly wouldn't want to be awarded the BACS in direct violation of TESU's policies (they can take it away and that would be embarrassing), but it would also suck if my semantic confusion means I messed up my course plan.
Any advice is appreciated. Thanks!

Proficiency Profile and S mode |

Has anyone encountered any problems with taking the proficiency profile? All of our computers are HP and have that S mode and are not allowing the browser required for the test to download. I really wish not getting out of S mode, because once you're out you cannot get back in. Has anyone else come accross this problem? What have you done about it? TESU is saying there aren't any alternatives to this test.

Course Withdrawals & Retakes |

Hey all! I posted a few weeks ago about applying as a non-degree seeking student to raise my uGPA for law school. I was able to enroll - for three classes simultaneously. I was wondering if anyone had any information about the withdrawal policy - it's very hard to find online.
I believe you can withdraw from courses in progress up to the Withdrawal deadline, but is it possible to do so after submitting the final milestone? I believe that that is the entire grade for the course (crazy!) is that correct? If so, and if you need to make improvements from the draft and don't get an A, is there really no way to withdraw or retake the course? My gpa is over a 3.8 so anything less than an A is not worthwhile.
At the very least, found a way to take more than 2 classes at once!

How to list on resume? |

I achieved a certificate in process technology from my local community college (25.5 CU). I did all my general education with sophia, but my local CC does not accept it. So I am going with BOG AAS emphasis in process technology. How would I list that on a resume? Would I have to put BOG? Or could I put "AAS emphasis in process technology" and be considered correct ? Also, some jobs ask if I have a degree in process technology, could I technically say yes ?

Looking for some advice bro? I'm a newbie in this forum
Japanese female with low GPA in liberal arts who can pay up to $25,000 on an online degree (because I still want to go to Canada for a masters in CS. It' need money)
The ultimate goal is to obtain a Master's degree in CS and get PR in Canada.
Improve my GPA and enrich my CS background.
Should I enroll in
an online CS bachelor
or
an online CS master's program?
Have any suggestions for online CS bachelor that can be completed quickly with a high GPA?
uop doesn't have regional accreditation
wgu is only for those who live in the US
NAU's computer information technology was canceled.
Thomas Edison's CS, which gives a surprisingly good BA.
Others, like Oregon State University, are 2 year programs that cost $30,000 to complete, which feels a bit expensive.
I'm currently looking at coursera online cs Bachelor of Goldsmiths, University of London. But it's too long——3 years
