  Intermediate Spanish Classes Recommendations
Posted by: cdrob44 - 12-12-2024, 07:58 PM - Forum: Degree Planning Advice - Replies (4)

Hello All! My 19 yr old daughter is finishing her AA at the local CC. With your past recommendations, she was able to get Elementary Spanish 1 and 2 through Sophia and get the credits accepted at the CC. Next challenge - we are looking for online, non proctored, INTERMEDIATE Spanish 1 and 2 courses - preferrable self paced. Spanish is her weakest area and we tried the INTERMEDIATE spanish at the CC twice and had to drop - it just didn't take for her.  In order to finish the BA at the Univ, she will need those two INTERMEDIATE spanish courses. Bottom line, we need to find the most user-friendly courses just to get those done and checked off the list. Does anyone know of any online, non proctored, INTERMEDIATE Spanish 1 and 2 courses - preferably self-paced?

TN eCampus has INTERMEDIATE Spanish 1 and 2 courses, but they will not verify whether those are proctored or not. They tell me it depends on the instructor(s).

STUDENT INFO:
State: TN
Age: 19
57 hours completed: combination of CLEP, CC courses, and Sophia (including sophia Spanish 1 and 2)
AA will be completed this spring
Transferring to an in-state Univ next Fall (TBD) with 60 hours remaining for Technical Writing / English BA.

As always, any info is much appreciated!

I've been reading this forum for a few days. I think I understand the concept of piecing together a degree. Please let me know if I'm understanding this correctly. First, I should do my online work like Sophia, Study.com, Davar, Coursera. Then I should enroll in TESU. Maybe just sign up for the 1 credit TECEP, even if I never take it. That entitles me to (unlimited?) transcript evaluations. I absolutely need to do the cornerstone (is this the Information Literacy?) and the capstone at TESU. If I don't do a minimum of 15 credits at TESU, I'm charged a fee, so it makes sense to just take the 15 credits there. E-packs satisfy that requirement. Once my transcript has been evaluated, then do my semester at TESU so I absolutely know what is required of me to graduate.

Is all of that correct?

Plan: TESU BS in Organizational Leadership

English Composition I - ACCC class - fulfilled
English Composition II - Sophia

  Stuck in admissions process
Posted by: pacha007 - 12-12-2024, 02:03 AM - Forum: UMPI - University of Maine at Presque Isle Discussion - Replies (25)

Hello everyone,

I applied for admission into the BABA PM & IS program a few weeks ago. When filling the application form, I mentioned that I attended college in the US 15 years ago, but I had to withdraw due to medical reasons and only finished 5 courses. I was then asked to provide the necessary documents, which I did including a high school transcript evaluation since I'm an international student, an English proficiency test and a Credly transcript showing more than 90 transferable credits gained from sophia and coursera. I was also asked to send an official transcript from the university I attended, but when I tried to do that, I discovered that I have a financial hold for an amount of money that is impossible for me to pay off anytime soon. I then emailed the admissions team at UMPI and told them about my situation, but they still insist that I provide that transcript even though I have provided all the other documents and a resume showing an extensive professional experience and now they won't even respond to my messages. I have also contacted Jessica Winslow who refered me to the director of yourpace admissions. He answered once repeating the same thing and no response from him again.
I am very worried since this is my last chance in getting a bachelor's degree soon that will allow me to start a master's program next fall. Please if anyone knows how I can resolve this situation, I'm all ears.

Thank you!

Walden Tempo Learning Fees - Changes March 2025
Posted by: bjcheung77 - 12-11-2024, 12:35 PM - Forum: Graduate School Discussion - Replies (4)

Walden hasn't changed their pricing much for the Tempo Learning CBE option, fees are in USD as they're an US University.  It's currently at $3K/3 months, $175 fee, so that's just $3,175 a session and if you need 6 months, that's 6K plus fees...

Here's the fees webpage, they're bumping it up to $3100/3 months and 180 fees March 2025: https://www.waldenu.edu/online-masters-p...ology#fees

This is just one example, I would guess they're changing the pricing for other Bachelors/Masters programs that are also on the Tempo Learning system.  You may want to see which degree you're looking at, the example above is for the MS Psychology degree.

Here are the programs they offer on the Tempo Learning option: https://www.waldenu.edu/flexibility/tempo-learning
Their Masters are actually going to be the same pricing except the MS in Early Childhood Studies (two concentrations to select from).
MS Criminal Justice has this under fees:  You may be able to complete your MS in Criminal Justice degree in 5 months for under $7,000.*

Stipend-Paid Online MAT to Transition to Rural STEM Teaching
Posted by: Jonathan Whatley - 12-11-2024, 12:29 PM - Forum: Graduate School Discussion - No Replies

If you have a bachelor's in Biology, Chemistry, or Math, are already eligible to live and work in the U.S., are not yet a certified teacher, but are interested in transitioning to teaching in a rural high-need school district, you might qualify for a free MAT (online with in-person practical work), and a multi-year stipend to supplement your income, from Concord University's STEM Fellowship Program.
