Transferring Credits to Computer Science Associate and Bachelor Programs
Posted by: badrddinb - 04-05-2025, 01:55 AM - Forum: UoPeople - University of the People Discussion - No Replies

Hello, I'm currently a student on both Computer Science Associate and Bachelor Programs.
I will talk about transferable credit courses and sources.

Courses:
Looking for all the courses I have in both Computer Science Associate and Bachelor Programs, I did not found a simple page with all the courses needed.
What I found are the following:
Notice Concerning Transferability of Credits Earned and Credentials at our Institution
Associate of Science in Computer Science (AS-CS)
Bachelor of Science in Computer Science (BS-CS)
Courses in Computer Science

But no clear clue on how to find the other Electives courses needed?! (Question 1)

Sources:
Looking for sources that offer transferable credits to the university, I discover this TES Public View TES include all possible sources. But it is a very long list and most of the sources are other colleges and universities (hard to check each source individually).
What I found are the following:
Sophia Learning

But I want also to know from previous students from where did you transferred a credit to the university (if you did)?! (Question 2)

So let's try to all courses and as many proven sources as possible and I will try to post an updated version once I can.

Please answer one or both of the two questions:
- How to find the other Electives courses needed?
- where did you transferred a credit to the university?

Don't forget to rate this thread or share your feedback.
Thanks for reading...

  PaedDr in Solvakia via consulting
Posted by: Maltus - 04-04-2025, 06:04 AM - Forum: Degree Planning Advice - Replies (1)

Good morning!
Has anyone any experience with getting a PaedDr (a so called "small" doctorate" from slovakia)? You can get it by doing a Rigorosum (small thesis + defensio) at e.g. DTI University, a private university in Dubica. And Since Slovakia is an EU-Member you're allowed to use the degree in the EU.
A "downside" is the consultation fee you pay for "translations" and such of about €7000-11.000 for "consultants" like https://pobs-fernstudium.com/

Normally you can only take the Rigorosum with a Masters' degree in the same field. So for a PaedDr would need a Master's in education or pedagogy. Has anyone ever troed to get a PaedDr with a degree in a field of study which is close to pedagogy like social work or social eduacation?

Or has anyone ever tried to get a PaedDr or a PhDr in Slovakia? Is it worth it?  Angel

Sad Should i talk to another TESU advisor?
Posted by: Zhi5291 - 04-03-2025, 03:42 PM - Forum: Degree Planning Advice - Replies (5)

Hi everyone thank all for sharing all the valuable information !! Your guys Rocks!!!!!  Cool Cool ,

A little about me and the issue,
I been on and off with my education over the years, but after experiencing a mass layoff from my job, I’ve decided it’s finally time to complete my bachelor’s degree. I started this journey back in 2023 for BACS and BSBA CIS at TESU through Degree Forum and became deeply invested in the Degree Wiki resources. Unfortunately, life got in the way and I had to pause due to limited availability. Now that I’m back and focused on building my degree plan for BSBA in Operations Management -since my 2023 category already expired. I’d greatly appreciate a second pair of eyes to review it. I’ve received feedback from TESU advisor Alicia Malone that many of my recent course submissions don’t meet the Area of Study requirements for the BSBA and that my electives are already fil with ACE credit cannot be replace with my RA credit. I’m trying to make sure everything is aligned so I can hit the 100-credit mark and register for the capstone. or another opportunity with different institutions to earn my degree faster. If anyone could take a look and offer suggestions or guidance, I’d be truly grateful! Angel
so far my only applied RA credit with TESU are:
ENC-1010 Writing for Success (Replacement)       A      3 ECO-1130 Basic Economics (qrtr hr)                    C      2

Email Trail with Alicia Malone:
Dear Assistant Dean Malone,

I’m reaching out to kindly request a review and possible re-evaluation of several RA (regionally accredited) transfer credits that are currently not applied to my degree plan. If possible, I would like to have them counted toward my elective credits, as they were completed through college-level coursework and should help contribute to my overall credit requirements.

The courses in question are:
MAT-1210 – College Algebra (Replaced, Duplicates other credits) – 3 credits
DEC-0010 – Developmental English Composition I – 0 credits
CIS-1030 – Intro to Business Information Software – 2 credits
BUS-1010 – Introduction to Business – 2 credits
ACC-1820 – Intro to Financial Accounting II (Quarter Hour) – 2 credits
ACC-1810 – Intro to Financial Accounting I (Quarter Hour) – 2 credits
DEV-0010 – Other Developmental Course – 0 credits

While I understand some of these may be developmental and non-credit-bearing, several—particularly the business and accounting courses—could potentially be used to fulfill elective credit requirements.
Additionally, once these credits are applied, along with my most recently submitted transcript, I believe I will meet the 100-credit minimum required to unlock registration for the BUS-421 Business Administration Capstone course. I would be sincerely grateful if these credits could be reviewed to help satisfy that threshold.

also I would like to ask about fulfilling my Area of Study (AOS) Electives requirement of 12 SH. I’ve completed the following two upper-level courses:
MAN-4380 – Mastering Project Management
MAN-4370 – Effective Project Management

Both are 300/400-level management courses, and I believe they align well with the Operations Management AOS. Would it be possible to have these courses reviewed and applied accordingly toward those requirements?

Please let me know if any further documentation is needed. I’m doing everything I can to stay on track to graduate this summer, and your support means a great deal.

Response:

Good afternoon,

None of the courses that you have listed are applicable toward your remaining degree requirements.

As you noted, developments courses are not applicable.
College Algebra is a duplicate, as you completed another College Algebra Course.
Financial Accounting I & II are duplicates, as you have already completed Financial Accounting.
Into to Business Software and Intro to Business can only apply as Electives and the Elective area is already complete.
Mastering Project Mgmt and Effective Project Mgmt cannot apply toward the Area of Study. Give that you are specializing in Operations Management, the remaining Area of Study courses must be Operations Management courses (Operations Management, Quality Management, Logistics, Supply Chain Management).

Best regards,

Alicia Malone

  Newlane as a beginner
Posted by: hsufeng - 04-03-2025, 02:48 PM - Forum: General "Big 3", B&M colleges, and other colleges - Replies (11)

I joined Newlane in early March and have now passed the course hearings for two mandatory courses and guidance course. I would like to briefly share my thoughts and experiences with Newlane, and if you have any questions, please feel free to ask and I will answer them (if I know).
I chose the liberal arts program and already have a bachelor's and master's degree, as well as a lot of ACE credits. The basic courses are not difficult for me, but the analysis of philosophical texts is indeed difficult. I got the most transfer credits, and the formal process is still being processed, so there should be no problem? They are very generous with transfer credits and are not very strict about specific courses.
The course hearing that many people worry about was also my biggest concern at the beginning, especially as a non-native English speaker. But in fact, the course hearing is more like a daily conversation and discussion. The professor is not particularly strict about the answers to the questions. There will be many open questions and details about the previous project.

If you have prior experience and are familiar with some of the content, you will be able to get started quickly.

Personally, I like Newlane's settings very much. The existence of course hearings does allow me to focus more on the content of learning, and the professors will give enough support, which is something that many programs cannot do. They have an excellent team of professors.

Considering the price and the learning experience, I highly recommend Newlane, which is the best program I have ever had in online learning. Really self-paced, access to all courses, responsible staff, cheap prices. I would like it more if they had their own systematic course materials and videos.

As a small start-up university , it is great to have such a quality . If you don't mind about NA accreditation , this would be a worthwhile choice. Applying for additional accreditation is too expensive for such a small university , although I think it is better than many RA universities.

Master in sports or recreation management
Posted by: TennisCoach - 04-02-2025, 07:33 PM - Forum: Graduate School Discussion - Replies (14)

Hi all, I'm back to the forum for some valuable advise. I graduated from UMPI MyPace in 2021 with BABA management & leadership. Since I work in the sports industry (head of tennis) I'm interested in pursuing a Master in sports or recreation management for employment purpose. I really wanted to enroll in a program in the country where I work (Saudi Arabia) but I didn't find any sports management master to attend in person as my main concern is doing an online program that wouldn't be accepted here by the authorities and the employer.
I found this university called Britts Imperial College University in Dubai, UAE that has partnership with Eucléa Business School Collège de Paris which is an accredited school in France and Britts Imperial offers classes in Saudi Arabia in a learning center called Big Academy. Britts Imperial says that the diploma will be awarded by Euclea Business School from France. There are videos on YT but it doesn't seem really legit. I thought about this option because it would, at least, make it look as if I went to classes in person, but the legitimacy of the school is my concern. The school said they are accepted by WES, NARIC and have an accreditation but I'm not familiar with all this. I'm looking in neighboring countries such as Bahrain, Qatar and Kuwait as it's a 4 hour drive from where I live. I guess I need to be sure if they accept here in Saudi online degrees... Thanks in advance.
