Curious about TEL Learning - Finishing BACS / BSBA from TESU |

Hi there,
I am curious if anyone knows how these TEL courses transfer into TESU through their transcribing colleges?
Introduction to Information Technology - would this be BUS-104? Wondering if it would work as BSBA AOS.
Quantitative Analysis I - would this be BUS-210 to satisfy the quantitative skills requirement of BSBA?
Also, what is the course format? Is it just quizzes and tests? I didn't find much information on their site.
I am in the process of finishing up my BACS and BSBA from TESU and I have maxed out Non-RA credits. I still need to complete a few RA courses to finish up both degrees, along with a single term at TESU.
For the BACS, I still need: COS-111, COS-451, CIS-351, LIB-495
And for the BSBA, I still need: SIS-150, BUS-210, BUS-495, plus 1 programming and 2 AOS electives
I have already completed the following RA courses. Everything else in Non-RA:
MAT-210 - Calculus,: ASU
SOS-110 - Critical Reasoning : TESU
SOC-110 - Introduction to Sociology : TECEP
CIS-107 - Computer Concepts : TECEP
BUS-101 - Intro to Business : TECEP
I am thinking about a combination of TECEP, TEL, and ASU to close the gap so that I can take my 5 BACS courses at TESU plus the BUS-495 in one term.
Looking for information about TEL but I am open to other ideas as well.

Enrolling BLS - accounting |

Hi everyone. just need some advice here. I've been going through the Class Review Master Thread a bit but could use some updated thoughts from you all
Everything from Sophia transferred besides the 2 credit Statistics course which I expected. This gives me a total of 109 credits going in.
I'm in the process of enrolling now. I was thinking the BaBa - Accounting But I would need to complete 15 courses at UMPI to make that work
So I think I will probably switch to the BLS - Accounting but I am open to thoughts on this.
I contacted WGU and their MBA only requires basically ANY Bachelors so I think I am ok with that if I go that way after UMPI
BABA - Accounting I would need the following 15 still
BUS 200 - Intermediate Business Computing (RQ9583)
BUS 220 - Managerial Accounting (RQ9583)
BUS 244 - Management Information Systems (RQ9583)
BUS 325 - Financial Management (RQ9583)
BUS 440 - Business Analytics (RQ9583)
BUS 469 - Strategic Professional Communication (RQ9583)
MAT 140 - Mathematics for Business (RQ9583)
COM 210 - Organizational Communication (RQ9583)
BUS 352 - Business Law II (RQ8267)
BUS 361 - Intermediate Accounting (RQ8267)
BUS 362 - Intermediate Accounting II (RQ8267)
BUS 376 - Independent Auditing (RQ8267)
BUS 377 - Federal Taxation I (RQ8267)
BUS 378 - Federal Taxation II (RQ8267)
BUS 464 - Advanced Accounting (RQ8267)
If I go the BLS - Accounting way I would need the following break down
Required:
220 Managerial accounting
361 Intermediate accounting
362 Intermediate accounting
Then any 2 from these choices:
352 Business law 2
376 Independent auditing
377 Federal Taxation 1
378 Federal taxation 2
464 Advanced accounting
Then I would need 4 more courses in the 300 or above level
and finally 1 more course at any level to complete my 30 credits.
Any suggestions are welcome here.
Is it worth trying to make this a BLS in Business AND Accounting (dual minor) ?
can anyone suggest what are the quickest / easiest to fulfill my req's here? Especially something I can knock out quick for my 1 any level course and the 4 uppers in whatever
thanks everyone

UMPI WGU and Pell Grant |

Hello all, I’m nearing my enrollment in UMPI transferring with 90 credits for the BAS Management Info systems degree after completing the PierPont AAS.
I have $5000 of tuition reimbursement through my employer and may have a Pell Grant for roughly $7000.
I’m trying to figure out how to capitalize on the education I’m able to get utilizing these in this academic year.
Unsure if this would work I’m wondering if anyone has some sage wisdom.
My thought process is that I can attend UMPI for 1-2 terms to finish out the BAS for $3k~ using the Pell grant then enroll in a cybersecurity BS at WGU to use the remaining Pell Grant and tuition reimbursement available. (Since I don’t believe I can apply the Pell Grant to a masters program)
I have the general education requirements for WGU and 3 of the CompTIA certs but otherwise not the 90 credits possible.
Since the term would be free I was thinking to attend and complete as many classes as I can then take the three month gap from the program WGU allows and return with either more transfer credits (can I do that ?) or when more funding is available to me.
Would this work with the Pell Grant ? Is there a better alternative path ?
I’m seeking to enter IT and more specifically Cybersecurity, I went with the BAS MIS due to the cost and availability to me before I knew of the Pell Grant. Time isn’t an issue and I can dedicate large amounts to school however funding is strict.
Thank you for any input

Hi all!
I've been perusing the forum a bit today after just stumbling across the site and it feels like a great source of information. But I'll cut to the chase here (hopefully; I have a tendency to be a bit long-winded)...
I am wanting to pursue an MSW with the long-term goal of achieving LCSW licensure.
I do already have a BA in Psychology and Counseling, but it was about 10 years ago and my undergrad GPA was rather poor - approximately 2.4 I believe. This is of course below the threshold that most MSW programs will accept.
Currently I work in a social work/case work type role on the inpatient psychiatric unit of a hospital. I had entertained the idea of a more counseling-focused degree path (leading to LPC/LCPC, etc) but in short I think in a clinical setting an LCSW will open far more doors. Additionally, my owner offers specific advancement-paths for persons seeking their MSW/LCSW and a sign-on bonus once you have completed your LCSW. They also have generally been pretty flexible in working with schools to accommodate their internship/placement requirements.
Initially I had applied for Liberty University's online MSW program. I have met all the requirements except for GPA.
I inquired about "conditional admission," academic probation, etc but no luck. I was given three alternative options:
1. Apply as a "non-degree seeking" student, complete 12 credit hours, and "obtain at least a minimum GPA required for good academic standing in, and graduation GPA from your desired program"
2. Reapply to a different program (no luck) or a lower-level (undergrad) program
3. I was also told that if I obtained 12 "graduate level" credit hours that would meet GPA requirements then I would be able to be admitted.
Option 1 is difficult as "non-degree-seeking" students are not eligible for any financial aid, so you pay the entire thing out of pocket. I have also received some conflicting information but in speaking with a few folks they made it sound like for a graduate-level program these would need to be graduate-level credits as well. That would be close to $7000 out of pocket by my count which is not really feasible for me.
So of course that leaves options 2 or 3.
I tried applying to a few different graduate level programs, and ran into the same thing - met all the requirements except GPA too low. However, I did get accepted into their BSW program, and was able to transfer in 60 credits, putting me at roughly halfway to completing a BSW. From here, assuming I do well enough, I'd be able to then enter the advanced-standing MSW program, which is only 31 credit hours. In roughly mapping out the credits, I don't think it would be huge difference (time-wise) to complete half a BSW then an advanced-standing MSW vs going straight to a non-advanced-standing MSW. So I am considering that route, though trying to see if there are any additional transfer credits I'd be able to bring in quickly to shorten the time to achieve a BSW as well. I know they allow you to transfer up to 90 credits, so I'm still trying to hash that out.
For #3, I'm pretty much open to any option. I didn't know if anyone had any ideas for strictly graduate-level credits that I'd be able to obtain quickly (and ideally at minimum cost) to pump up my GPA to gain admission directly to the MSW program.
Of course, I should caveat all this by saying that I'm not strictly married to LU, it's just who I've been most familiar with and have had the most correspondence with. I would certainly be open to other options if anyone can think of anything that would be a better fit, perhaps.
I'll try and outline my existing/transfer credits in a post below, as I'm already going a bit long here (told you).
My current/transfer credits - here is what Liberty has credited with me for incoming transfer credit towards a BSW.

SCOM 1XX Speech/Communication Elective - 1CR
Total: 57 credits
The total degree plan is 123 credit hours, of which 63 are "core/major" hours, so in other words I have basically knocked out all the non-"core" classes. If I remember correctly, the only remaining one was "Cultural Studies Elective" (3CR) which I planned to complete through Straighterline's "Cultural Anthropology" course, which I've checked is an appropriate transfer equivalent.
Remaining would then be:
PSYC 255 Intro to Research - 3CR
PSYC 354 Statistics for Social Sciences - 3CR
SOWK 101 Intro to Social Work - 3CR
SOWK 135 Social Work Professional Exploration - 3CR

SOWK 494 Social Work Program Gate 4 (0CR)
SOWK ### - 3CR (SOWK 425, 432, 435, 439, 495, or 497)
SOWK ### - 3CR ("choose from a 300-400 level course from HSER, PSYC, or SOWK not already required in major)
Now as I said above - I am not totally married to LU, but as you can probably tell from my undergrad/transfer credits, I got my BA from a Christian College and I have had some difficulty in getting some of those credits to transfer to other institutions in the past. Liberty (of course, being a Christian school themselves, I suppose) have generally been fairly generous/accepting of these credits; I've been concerned that it will be difficult to get nearly as many eligible transfer credits elsewhere.
One other random thing that speaks (IMO) in favor of going BSW>advanced MSW is that while I'm currently (~2 years) working "in the field" I still feel a bit "rusty" as it relates to my undergrad education. Part of me thinks that perhaps it would be beneficial to go back in to a relevant undergrad curriculum rather than diving right back in at graduate level having been out of school for 10+ years, but I don't know.
Oh, I'll add this too, to try and make things a bit easier:
Your Location: IL, USA
Your Age: 33
What kind of degree do you want?: MSW, either directly/"traditional" or by way of BSW > advanced standing MSW

Hello everyone! Wondering if you can help me out here. My goal is to get my bachelors in Accounting, then masters, and eventually CPA.
I'm wondering if I should stay at WGU for both bachelors and masters or go to UMPI for the bachelors then take the master at WGU? Or maybe a completely different strategy entirely?
Here is some more info on my situation:
I've applied to WGU and sent in my transcripts, they've already confirmed 21 credits from my community college now I'm waiting for them to confirm my Sophia credits. My one big fear here is the proctored exams, mainly because I live in a pretty busy household with children, one of whom is ASD and stays with me most of the time. My plan so far is to hit up my library for a private room for the exams, not sure how picky the proctors are regarding that.
However I recently found out about UMPI and how they can possibly accept more credits through Sophia and etc. Also been reading how they're not proctor-based, which is fine for me since I don't mind writing and making presentations so that would allow me to stay home to do everything and not worry about finding some place suitable for the exams.
Your Location: California, United States
Your Age: 40
What kind of degree do you want?: Accounting
Current Regional Accredited Credits: About 24 credits from 8 random classes I attempted at 3 different community colleges from years ago...
Long Beach City College -
- ART 15, Beginning Drawing - 3.0
- MATH 815, Preparation for Algebra - 3.0
MiraCosta College -
- KINE, Kinesiology 190 3.0
Brooks College - Not sure if these are actually 4 credits each but that's what it says on the transcript.
- AC 110, Animation Fun - 4.0
- PHIL 181, Critical Thinking - 4.0
- MATH 182, Geometry - 4.0
- AC 161, Digital imaging - 4.0
- AC 111Layout Skills - 4.0
Current ACE, CLEP, or NCCRS Credits:
Sophia.org - 66 credits
- Art History I
- Art History II
- Business Law
- College Algebra
- English Composition I
- Environmental Science
- Financial Accounting
- Intro to Business
- Intro to Ethics
- Intro to IT
- Intro to Nutrition
- Intro to Sociology
- Intro to Statistics
- Macroeconomics
- Managerial Accounting
- Principles of Finance
- Principles of Management
- Principles of Marketing
- Project Management
- Public Speaking
- U.S. History I
- Visual Communication
Any certifications or military experience?: I am CTEC certified and have PTIN
Budget: Can afford about $8k out of pocket max for bachelors, will have to save up for masters or do payments.
Commitments: part-time job, kids, wife working full time.
Dedicated time to study: ~20-30 hr/week
Timeline: 1 year preferably but willing to extend to 2 years.
Tuition assistance/reimbursement: I'm approved for $7,000 through Pell Grant, FAFSA.
Hopefully that's enough info (or maybe too much), thanks in advance!

Roadmap to UMPI BSc Psychology 2025 |

Hello everyone,
First and foremost, I’d like to extend my heartfelt thanks to bjcheung77 for the helpful advice shared on a previous thread I posted. Your insights were greatly appreciated!
Here is a bit of background about me:
- Location: Europe
- Age: 30
- Desired Degree: UMPI BSc in Psychology
- Current Regional Accredited Credits: A Bachelor’s + Master’s in non related topics (both earned in Europe - can I use them to transfer for the 35 general credits that I need?). Additionally, I have título propio credits in areas such as counseling and team leadership, though I’m unsure how feasible it would be to validate them through NARIC. Wouldn't mind to start from scratch.
- ACE, CLEP, or NCCRS Credits: None at the moment.
- Certifications or Military Experience: None.
- Budget: $5,000.
- Commitments: Full-time work and family responsibilities.
- Study Time: Approximately 10 hours per week, though I’m willing to pause personal and professional obligations for a couple of months to make significant progress or potentially complete the program within that timeframe.
- Timeline: Preferably by summer 2025, but definitely by December 2025.
- Tuition Assistance: None available, so staying within budget is crucial.
While I’m quite familiar with the European education system, I am new to the American one. I consider myself a strong test-taker (better if they're not proctored ) and have experience with writing assignments.
I have a few questions and would greatly appreciate any guidance:
- Recognition in Europe: Would this degree be recognized in Europe? Could it potentially qualify me to register as a fully licensed therapist in any European country? I’d love to hear about any similar experiences.
- Timeline: Would it be realistic to complete the degree within one or two sessions (YourPace) if I dedicate at least one session to full-time study?
- Degree Plan: I reviewed the UMPI BA Psychology Degree Plan, which seems very detailed and helpful. Could someone provide a beginner-friendly explanation of the typical roadmap? Am I correct in understanding that I should complete the Study.com and Sophia courses first, and then enroll at UMPI to transfer the credits?
- Residency Requirements: Does UMPI require any form of residency for the YourPace program? From what I understand, it does not, but I’d like to confirm.
Once again, thank you all for the invaluable information shared on this forum. I truly appreciate the efforts of the administrators and contributors who help guide newcomers like me.
Looking forward to your advice!
Best regards,
|
