Helping my teen develop and work a plan towards a Bachelor's degree... this is her info/summary/request for guidance.
Your Location: Pennsylvania, USA
Your Age: 19 (turning 20 in February 2026 – mentioning that since some schools don’t deal with those under 20 years of age)
What kind of degree do you want?: Any Bachelor’s degree will do (the quicker/easier, the better); but career goals include high-level dog training (protection work, bite sports, service/therapy dogs) with possibility of managing a business location for my employer and possibly K9 Law Enforcement in the future.
Current Regional Accredited Credits: N/A
Current ACE, CLEP, or NCCRS Credits: Using SDC credit equivalencies for TESU below
Study.com Credits: 48
Biology 101: Intro to Biology, 3, 93 or A
Business 100: Intro to Business, 3, 84 or B
Business 108: Business Ethics, 3, 88 or B
Economics 101: Principles of Microeconomics, 3, 88 or B
Finance 102: Personal Finance, 3, 90 or A
Health 101: Principles of Health, 3, 91 or A
History 101: Western Civilization I, 3, 91 or A
History 102: Western Civilization II, 3, 91 or A
History 104: US History II, 3, 94 or A
Math 102: College Mathematics, 3, 81 or B
Nutrition 101: Science of Nutrition, 3, 95 or A
Philosophy 103: Ethics - Theory & Practice, 3, 90 or A
Philosophy 301: Principles of Philosophy, 6, 90 or A
Physics 111: Physics I, 3, 90 or A
Psychology 101: Intro to Psychology, 3, 96 or A
Any certifications or military experience?: no
Budget: Low-cost, nothing really saved up at this time. Cheap and fast would be good if possible. Mom will cover SDC monthly fee as long as I am making good use of the plan.
Commitments: Currently working 2 PT jobs in the animal welfare/dog training field; caring for my ten dogs, including training multiple dogs in PSA/Bite Sports. Traveling to field trials/workshops. Prefer online programs that I can complete at my own schedule/pace.
Dedicated time to study: 3-15 hours/week, variable due to work/commitments.
Timeline: Sooner is better; but would like to finish in 2026 if possible.
Tuition assistance/reimbursement: none so far.
Other:
I don’t do well on standardized closed-book tests. Currently liking the SDC format and flexibility to work whenever my schedule allows.
Academically strong areas include English, History, Science - all four years of high school I was in the Honors courses for those areas. Thinking that Liberal Arts would be the easiest path, but might consider a minor in either: business, psychology, management, or criminal justice.
Weakest areas are Math and Computer programming - I'm computer literate as a user but not into programming.
So far strongly leaning on earning as many credits through SDC as possible and thinking I would likely transfer to TESU to do the final two required courses and pay the accelerate fee, if I can get all the necessary credits through SDC.
Not sure if it matters, but I have extensive experience in animal welfare in a shelter environment (over 8,000 volunteer hours documented, received Lifetime Achievement Award through the Presidential Volunteer Service Program - and subsequently was hired part-time three years ago by the shelter while in 10th grade). That experience entails everything from basic animal care to assisting with surgeries and euthanasia, medication administration, assisting with humane law officer activities, rehabilitating dogs from fighting rings, subbing in for shelter manager shifts when they were not available, counseling and mentoring fellow employees, supervising volunteer groups and activities, adoption counseling, customer interfacing, securing and transporting animals, fostering animals, three summers as a children's camp counselor, etc. I am uncertain if that experience might align to any experience-based portfolio activity for credit consideration or if that just make earning a degree more complicated.
Thank you for guidance in advance.

I got my BOG AAS from Pierpont in December 2023 and transferred to TESU in July 2025. My GPA is 3.058 because of a couple of terms where I bombed a class. Anyway, this term, I'm taking both Writing for Success I and II and also retaking American Government (one of the classes I bombed.)
I had planned to take my capstone and graduate with a BA in Liberal Studies in December but my advisor is c***-blocking me from that. I need 6 credits so I can at least get some financial aid, but he won't allow me to register for another class along with the capstone. I asked him if he can remove one of the classes I transferred in from Sophia or Study.com but he's like "nope."
I got him to add a certificate in Clinical and Forensic Psychology but he says I can't get financial aid to pay for those classes, either.
If I can't take 6 credits, I can't afford to take the capstone and I can't graduate with my bachelor's. At this point, if he continues to be a problem, I'll just get the AA in General Studies (with no capstone) and transfer somewhere else.
Has this BS happened to anyone else here? I have had a decent TESU experience so far.

Hello, there, I'm brand new on here, but I've been reading through these threads for a month or so, and decided to join in on the fun. I'm an almost 44 year old guy, retired military, who has a kid in college, and decided I need to really live the example I ask of my kids. I tried college out of high school, and was great at the partying, not so much the class part. I went back about 2 years ago to TESU, and got 12 credits out of it, but the pace was slow, and family commitments at the time didn't allow for more school. I was also unaware of how to use ACE credits to my benefit. To cut to the chase, I've been very interested in UMPI, and could use some guidance on the ACE credits necessary to forge ahead and get it done. I'm currently on my phone and it's typing weird, so I'll have to log back in and post more in the morning from my laptop. I've got approx 18 credits from my JST, and English comp I & II, American Government, and the TESU cornerstone class completed. Thanks in advance for any tips, pointers, or other guidance.

| Affordable accredited doctorate options under 10k |

I had my ENEB evaluated through ECE and I am about to do the same with Scholaro and IEE for graduate level credits. I also hold two masters from UMPI and I am currently working on the UMass MBA. At this point the only thing I am missing is the doctorate or PhD path, and that would make a direct impact on my career.
My employer has already confirmed that earning a doctorate from an accredited school that can be evaluated as equivalent to an RA degree would raise my salary by about twenty percent. That increase would make a big difference for me and my family. The challenge is that I do not have the funds to afford more than ten thousand, not even through FAFSA loans, so my options are limited.
I want to be clear that I do not mean to offend others by sounding like I want a diploma mill. That is not what I am after. It is just the reality that if my employer recognizes the credential and it gives me a twenty percent raise instantly, then why would I not want to pursue it. I have a family to feed and I need to be practical. Having three regionally accredited masters already does not seem to be enough for my employer, and the ENEB credentials will hopefully come in handy as graduate level credits or for bachelor equivalency.
Ideally I am looking for a program that can be accomplished quickly since I need the raise within a year or less. I do have the time to dedicate to the study, and I know it is possible because I have heard of people finishing at South College in as little as two terms. Unfortunately, South College recently increased their prices and the pacing is also a concern, so I am not fully convinced. Edgewood also looks promising, but I am still comparing before committing.
I am not looking at Walden or Capella, as I know those are common but they are not the right fit for me financially or in terms of pacing. I am still open to exploring other options. I also keep hearing that some countries offer doctorate programs that are not as well known but still accredited. If WES or another NACES evaluator equates the degree to an RA doctorate, then that would be perfectly acceptable for my purposes.
I am also looking into top up programs. I have a Level 7 diploma from Qualifi that my employer paid for about a year ago, though I am not sure if that will be useful or transferrable toward a doctorate.
So my question is this: has anyone here found an accredited doctorate or professional doctorate program under ten thousand that can realistically be completed in a year or less, maybe with some transfer of graduate level credits. It can be US based or European, as long as it is accredited and can be evaluated as equivalent to an RA doctorate.
Any guidance, experiences, or suggestions would be very much appreciated.

Unlimited RA, CBE courses per 4 month term for $2400. Cornerstone University https://soar.cornerstone.edu, is now accepting ACE transfer credits towards their online, CBE SOAR degrees. Previously, Cornerstone only accepted transfer credit from regionally accredited schools. Cornerstone is a regionally accredited, Christian university in Grand Rapids, MI.
My brother applied months ago but his Sophia credit, around 100 hours, and two Google Career Certificates were initially rejected. My brother exchanged a few emails with school leadership and they eventually dropped the regionally accredited requirement. Cornerstone eventually accepted 87 credit hours of my brother's transfer credit. He is still appealing the rejection of his Sophia Principals in Finance. I am uncertain if they will consider other academic credit besides ACE and RA.
For those transferring significant credit, I believe this is the 2nd least expensive RA CBE bachelor's degree program after YourPace at UMPI/UMF. For those that can't finish 10 courses in 7.5 weeks like me, Cornerstone could be the cheapest RA bachelor's degree.
