Pls. Help me choose 2 or 3 Dantes/EXE tests for degree (Bus. Management Studies)
Posted by: fcgoates - 10-24-2007, 08:03 AM - Forum: General Education-Related Discussion - Replies (2)

Hello,
I'm new to testing for credits. I need some help from you experts! My academic advisor told me that I can have 2 or 3 upper level DANTES/EXE tests for credits on my degree plan for Business Management Studies. These tests are to fill in the upper level electives only. I cannot take Business Management or Management Information Systems test. He recommened Drug & Alcohol Abuse as one, but left the other 1 or 2 open for me to fill in. I've heard the D&A is pretty easy, but not quite sure what other tests I should take and what I should use to study. I'm trying to get my degree done by summer (10 classes to go) and I'm enrolled in 3 for the next term beginning next week. Please let me know what you think I should go for- and I'm going for the easy tests as I don't have that much time to study for it. Thanks. :o

  Need everyone's opinion - Bachelors + PMP
Posted by: Chebasaz - 10-23-2007, 04:24 PM - Forum: General Education-Related Discussion - Replies (9)

As you can see from my sig, I've got a target date of the end of the year for my current degree in General Business with Excelsior. The reason behind that date is that I have my 4500 hour requirement for the PMP certification. Without a bachelors degree, it requires 7500 hours of PM experience. One of the many reasons that I am pursuing a bachelors degree is in order to receive this certification.

Now my question is this:

Do you think it would behoove me to change to a Liberal Arts major to knock out the bachelors requirement, submit my application for the PMP test, and then continue my General Business path for my second major?

The upside would be that I could "theoretically" finish the Lib Arts degree much more quickly. This would allow me to concentrate fully on the (/shudder) Pre-calc classes that I am going to need to take for my business degree.

Potential downsides that I see is another application fee when it's time to receive the second major, but I was planning on pursuing a second major anyway. Any others that anyone can think of?

Posted by: princykit - 10-23-2007, 12:19 PM - Forum: General Education-Related Discussion - Replies (6)

I have been studing the dantes principles of statistics for about 2 weeks. The testing center only comes to our area once a month. The next time will be on the 31st. How do I know if I am ready? The clep tests all had practice tests that I used to gage myself....I haven't found any for Stats.
How do you guys know when to take the exam???? Any feed back is appreciated.

How To Get Huge Discount Fees At Excelsior
Posted by: ImustStudy - 10-22-2007, 04:20 PM - Forum: General Education-Related Discussion - Replies (21)

OK everyone, here is a secret that may work for you and save you perhaps several thousand $$ in fees at Excelsior.

Excelsior has special agreements with certain groups and gives their members discounted enrollment fees and graduation fees. The only catch is you have to take so many class in residence at Excelsior or you will be charged the regular fees to graduate. EC exams do not count.

You can save about $700 in enrollement fees and then another $600 or $700 on graduation fees I believe.

One organization that you can join is the National Latino Peace Officers Association. You don't have to be latino and don't have to be a peace officer to join. I believe the cost is about $60 and Excelsior never checks to see that you are a member, they take your word for it. ( I am a member by the way and recommend that you join to be legit). Excelsior even has an ad on their membership application.

Save yourself some money. This is the real deal. You may be able to get this retro-active if you speak to the right advisor.Rolleyes
