As some of you may know, I've been stressing just a teensy weensy bit about my score on Rise and Fall of the Soviet Union...

Well today, I found out that I have indeed passed (YEA!). However, I just thought it would be fun to share with y'all just how I found out I passed.

Excelsior has this page on their site that lists all transcripts received, and just for grins today, I checked it. Well, lo and behold, it has a Dantes transcript date of 5/4. So I immediately called to see if it was a mirage or if I were dreaming and they confirmed that no, it wouldn't be posted there if I did not pass and yes the transcript received is for USSR.

So, although I don't yet know my score (has the mail come yet?) I do at least know I have three more UL arts and sciences under my belt! And to quote the creator of the Internet, Al Gore, Wink "it's not the margin of victory, it's the fact."

YEE-HAW!!

I took the test yesterday. It was very hard. If I passed , I did just barely...Instantcert was barely adequate in studying for this test...This is not a slam on Instantcert, I think this a great site and will continue to use it...It has been a HUGE help in other tests, but I guess you cannot win them all.

My advice is not to worry about dates so much, but consequenses. WHY such and such happened and what happened because of such and such...

Good luck.

I plan on taking American Government CLEP. Any advice. I plan on instantcert only and reading the constitution with and Us Gov laminated quick study guides. Then I will use all the petersons practice exams and the collegeboard exams. What do you'll think?

All - I know there's some older threads out there that has some info on this test and I've read through it, but I'm wondering if anyone is willing to share any current advice. What to focus on; what to be aware of; what's on the test that IC doesn't cover? Anything along those lines would be much appreciated!

My current plan is to mainly use IC, only adding the Collegeboard's practice test and the Peterson's practice test. Thoughts?

Thanks! Big Grin

  DSST exam site NYC
Posted by: cwendy111 - 05-04-2006, 04:20 AM - Forum: General Education-Related Discussion - Replies (8)

Can someone tell me where I can take a DSST exam in NYC that doesn't require enrollment? No, I am not military. I haven't taken any exams yet, but plan on registering for CLEP Info systems and DSST MIS together as recommended by 123collegedegree to be my first exams. I have an AAS in Nursing and so far plan to go through TESC for a BS in Nursing, then shoot for a Business degree. I plan to take the CLEP at SUNY MEOC (http://sunymeoc.org/clep.html) as they only charge $5.00. They have other centers across NY state. Visit http://www.sunyeoc.org/EOC_info.html lists the test centers. If I'm lucky, they'll let me take the DSST too.

Any advice? I have no background in the subject and will start studying tonight for a test scheduled next week 5/11. I plan on using InstantCert as my only resource. I have taken and passed Dantes D&A abuse, Civil War as well as Clep HG&D and Intro to ED Psych. I felt Civil war was the toughest. How would Bus Law compare? Thanks...

Average length of study time to prepare ?
Posted by: RBOWMAN - 05-03-2006, 05:56 AM - Forum: General Education-Related Discussion - Replies (32)

It seems that there is alot of variance in length of study time for preparing to take a test. Okay, let's all compare.....I take an actual 24 hrs. of hard study time per exam. I make sure I get 95% of each instantcer section correct before I test out. I know everyone is different, but for my 81 clep and dantes credits to date, it has worked. Just thought it would be interesting to compare. Take care and good studying and success to all!!Cool
