NYU - German test is done
Posted by: kckusek - 01-19-2007, 08:17 PM - Forum: General Education-Related Discussion - Replies (5)

Hello,
just a quick update, that I did the 16 credit German test from NYU today and my recommendation is, if you are not bilingual, don't do it.

There were no multible choise questions in this test.
The first section was listening to a silly text and answering 5 questions. (EASY). The second and third was a translation from German to English and from English to German. This was VERY hard. The text chosen for the German English translation had componants with cultural differences about the school system which (at least in my opinion) are not directly translatable:confused: . Getting a Bachelor in German is different and the school system in Germany in general is different. So translating this into English was really hard.
The second translation was about travelers from the 18th century. Your really need to have your vocablulary togetherCool .
The last was a 350 word essay about money spent on outer space... .

If you have the choise, go with the CLEP 12 credit, as this is a multible choise test, so even if you don't know the answer, you at least can guess. (not really possible with translations).

Keep your fingers crossed for me, and I keep my fingers crossed for youWink ,

Good luck,

Kckusek

ECE Social Psychology Study and Quiz Links

I am in the midst of studying for my last test, ECE's Social Psychology. I've seen that there are several people interested in this test, and that Steve has it on the list of future IC guides, so I'd thought I'd post some great web sites that offer flash cards, Power Point presentations, varieties of quizzes, and a ton of Social Psychology text book chapter reviews; basically a crammer's dream come true.

Hope someone else out there can use the info contained. I know I always like to take practice quizzes to test my knowledge of a subject. Enjoy! Lee

Add another college grad to the list!
Posted by: upgradelately - 01-18-2007, 09:00 AM - Forum: General Education-Related Discussion - Replies (5)

Took my last CLEP last night - Human Growth and Development and passed with a 65! I used IC, the CLEP official study guide, as well as the passyourclass.com study guide. I studied all of these for a week.

Be sure to study Piaget, Erickson, language development, parenting types, habituation, semantics, superego, etc....

Now I just have to wait for my scores to get to U of P so I can apply for my degree. How long does this usually take?

Thanks IC!

Shawn

Choice between DSST Soviet Union & ECE Gerontology

Hi everyone!

If you had a choice between these two U/L exams, which one would you pick/avoid as far as difficulty is concerned? I am trying to prep for a "less difficult" U/L exam and it's down to these two mind bogglers (uggh).

Thank you much!

Thanks to everyone at InstantCert and to everyone who took the time to put up valuable information in the discussion forum. By taking the clep exams I saved a whole lot of money, and a whole lot time. So to everyone Domo Arigoto, and now on to my Masters Degree. hilarious

Any advice on a book for Environment and Humanity Dantes?
Posted by: dgreenes - 01-17-2007, 06:30 PM - Forum: General Education-Related Discussion - Replies (1)

I looked online and found a 1993 edition of the recommended book [I]Living in the Environment[I] for $1.99. Anyone know if this old edition is worth buying and studying from? In addition to ic of course. Thanx in advance. Any thoughts on this would be appreciated.

  ECE Microbiology
Posted by: semosoldier - 01-17-2007, 09:02 AM - Forum: General Education-Related Discussion - Replies (2)

Has anyone taken the ECE Microbiology? It appears as though it has a 61% success rate, that seems pretty high.

I've gotten two microbiology text books that I'm reading through and I work in a TMC so I've been OJT in the lab to get experience with gram stains and just a better understanding of what I'm reading.

Does anyone have any experience with the test, level of difficulty, things you wish you studied more, that kind of stuff?

Thanks,
Justin

I studied for this exam for a week using IC and taking DSST Practice Exam. This is enough to pass!!! Know the four stages: excitement, resolution..etc, what nutrient has the most grams of fat...got confused on that! lol, know... maslow's hierarchy of needs, the most leading cause of death of 35-64 year olds, for both male and female...aspirins side effects, sarcoma, and all that types of cancer, what cancer is, which type of oil to stay away from if you are trying to lower cholesterol..was not sure on that...I put sunflower oil???...um... stages of dying, and I felt confident..thanks to the forum and IC!!!!
