  Any Gerentology acers out there?
Posted by: dgreenes - 12-20-2006, 06:09 PM - Forum: General Education-Related Discussion - Replies (4)

Hi! Taking Excelsior's Foundations of Gerentology exam next Wednesday and I'm going through IC's cards. I did a search on this test and did not come up with much. Does anyone know if I have to know all the percentages and numbers as part of the demographics dection of the cards? Anyone remember certain info or sections that I should spend extra time studying for? There were a number of these for the A&A test and it was exceptionally helpful.

ECE Statistics and saying HI YA'll.
Posted by: sunnyjohn - 12-20-2006, 03:47 PM - Forum: General Education-Related Discussion - Replies (2)

Hello.

I am SO happy to have found this site. I heard about IC while surfing Amazon and reading the book reviews. One thing lead to another and I was on 123 collegedegree and BAin4weeks!

Well, I have gained acceptance into a direct entry Master's degree nursing program. I have worked in healthcare for ages, but have no nursing license.

Anyhoo, in order to make it official I MUSt pass a handful of ECE/CLEP/DANTES exams. I have to have statistics.

I know folks here have taken the Danted stats exam, but what about the ECE exam? My advisor is trying to see if they will accept the DSST exam, but she said it may take awhile. I have to start my studying either wway.

Will IC and Complete Idiot's guide work for the ECE statistics exam?

Thanks in advance for the advice!Big Grin

  Excelsior Business and Ethics

The ethics course excelsior offers through examintion is listed as an arts & sciences credit. You have to take business ethics in the ECE business program. Does the exam Excelsior have for ethics fulfill the business ethics requirement. If anyone knows.

  Need 30 Credits
Posted by: Machelle - 12-19-2006, 09:36 PM - Forum: General Education-Related Discussion - Replies (12)

Hi Everyone,

I am a newbie and wanted to introduce myself. I am 43 years old, divorced about 2 years ago, 2 kids. I am currently going to UOP so I can finally get my BS/BA. I am in the core of my program (which I can't CLEP out of unfortunately) that will be done February 2008. I was told by my advisor that I can CLEP out of my electives of which I still need 30 credits. I have never taken a CLEP exam before and was scared to because the study materials seemed so overwhelming that it just seemed easier to take the classes...until I discovered IC! Now I am studying for Human Growth and Development and hope to take it in January.

Anyway, I wanted to get everyone's opinion on what I plan to accomplish over the next year. I am taking 5 week long classes at UOP back-to-back, so it will be pretty intense, but I am hoping I can swing getting those extra 30 credits in before February 2008. Here is my list:

HG&D (3 credits)
Humanities (6)
American Government (3)
Biology (6)
Western Civilization I (3)
Western Civilization II (3)
U.S. History I (3)
U.S. History II (3)

I have taken Sociology, Intro to Psych, and Psychology of Personality, so I am not sure if Educational Psychology would be too much of an overlap and if they would let me take that one. I may have to ask them, and replace one of the other CLEP's. At any rate, I hope to complete one exam per month starting in January. The six credit tests scare me a bit, but I want so badly to get my Bachelor's in the next year.

Thoughts? Thanks!

Machelle

  Excelsior and DSST Exams
Posted by: blueyzz28 - 12-19-2006, 07:50 PM - Forum: General Education-Related Discussion - Replies (2)

I have recently, in the last three weeks, passed two CLEP exams. American Government (69) and Principles of Marketing (75). I am now thinking about taking Principles of Finance and Ethics in America through DSST. Are these exams deemed UPPER LEVEL at Excelsior?

  DSST Principles of Statistics
Posted by: Old Rusty Pipe - 12-17-2006, 08:56 PM - Forum: General Education-Related Discussion - Replies (12)

Greetings everyone. I've just recently completed my Princlples of Management CLEP, and the DSST for Human Resources Management and Organizational Behavior. I did this before I found instantcert on the web.

I'm currently going through the InstantCert notes for the Principles of Statistics. So far I'm assimilating it at a fairly rapid pace but I have one concern. I absolutely have to take the DSST for Statistics on the January 3. With only 2 and half week to prep and study, what other really good resources would anyone recommend that I can get my hands on fairly quick.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

  Sending CLEP score to institutions
Posted by: Blue - 12-17-2006, 08:50 PM - Forum: General Education-Related Discussion - Replies (5)

hello everyone! hope xmas preparations have been going well! =]

i'm a little confused about the sending scores procedure for CLEP exams. does it cost extra to send the scores at the time of my exam or is it included in the exam fee? and if i want to now send past scores that haven't been sent anywhere before, does it cost $20, or is the $20 charged if the score has been sent before?

hope my questions aren't too confusing >.<

thanks! =]
