how many tests a day or week??!!!
Posted by: ramiller1976us - 03-30-2006, 08:07 AM - Forum: General Education-Related Discussion - Replies (2)

I have been following this site for a while and am now looking to take some tests. I have been going to TESC last year but will do the rest by testing out and then enroll at COSC.
The problem is that i live in Europe for the next year or so and taking a Clep or Dantes here is not easy. Basically the only place reasonable is in the UK and it cost too much. Plus they only offer testing 2 days a year!!

SO i will coming over this fall for 2 weeks and taking as many tests as i can. I will be in either NYC or Portland, OR.
Is there a limit on how many test i take at a site per day? I think i remember one have a rule about 2 a day. If i took some easy ones i was hoping to do 3+. So i was thinking about doing 2 at one site and then going to another in the afternoon and doing another there....

ALso do sites charge thier own test fees as well as the Clep and Dantes test fees....

Thanks for any info you can give....

Good indication of when your ready to take the clep exam
Posted by: Shark101 - 03-29-2006, 11:00 AM - Forum: General Education-Related Discussion - Replies (8)

If you acheive a 50% or better on mock exams does that mean you are ready to take the clep exam? For example here are my scores on these mock exams:
1. Instantcert: 70-90%
2. College board sample questions- 74%
3. Petersen's- 45%, 52%
Thanks

I think it was Chris who suggested that those of us testing in this area make a timeline of the events of russian and soviet history....well go to the website "infoplease" and punch in a request for timeline: russian history..and there it all is. Makes life and study prep alittle easier.

  Humanities - Don't sweat it
Posted by: JBL - 03-28-2006, 09:45 PM - Forum: General Education-Related Discussion - No Replies

Just took the Humanities CLEP today 3/28/06 - Passed with a 59

All I used was Instantcert as my foundation (as I do with all my preparation) and one other resource, Cracking The Clep, for that extra edge. I felt that the info in Instantcert was enough to pass this test but I was freaking out so much that I wanted to make extra sure. But after I took the mock test on the official study guide by Collegeboard and got more that half right, I knew I was going to pass and didn't study much further.

Listen, just make sure you read everything in Instantcert and you'll be ok. Believe me, I hated the subject but passed and got 6 credits!

I am definately not a star in economics. Studied very relaxed for 10 days, used only Instantcert and sample exams from Peterson. Needed 61 for an A (Excelsior). Scored 67! THANKS INSTANTCERT, this place rocks!

  math.. a course less traveled
Posted by: RBOWMAN - 03-28-2006, 08:45 AM - Forum: General Education-Related Discussion - Replies (18)

Oh wise and kind people's of instantcert. Please give me some sage advise on how best to meet 9 hours of electives in math and science. I dislike both areas. I have not been in college for 36 years. I have not gone beyond geometry in math and physical science in science. these are in fact the last two areas for me to test out of , but I could easily qualify as mildly deficent in these areas. I cannot avoid them any longer and they are a true..true.. true stumbling block on my road to graduation.. I sincerely need and am asking for any "resourceful" ideas you can offer. My college, Thomas Edison will not accept Dantes business math and God knows Iam now thoroughly frustrated, concerned , and Praying alot!! Ideas??????

  DSST Statistics help

Hi, I was wondering what people who have taken this test have used for study aids, other than InstantCert of course. I've bought one of the recomended books, but I was wondering if there is a helpful study guide out there. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  AS or BS from Excelsior
Posted by: ChristaKB - 03-26-2006, 09:57 AM - Forum: General Education-Related Discussion - Replies (3)

Hi guys, came to this board again as you have so much experience with Excelsior.

I have about 60 credits by now and looking to transfer there. I would like to get my AS before I get my BS. I checked the Excelsior website and I have one exam left (Dantes statistics) before I meet the AS requirements.

My question is: do I enroll now as an AS student (and pay the AS fee of almost $1000) to get my AS and then one month later (after I get my AS) enroll as a BS student (and pay the BS fee)? Or do I wait until I have about 80 credits to enroll for my BS? If I go for that last option, will they still give me my AS degree?

Thanks for your help, I can't seem to figure this one out:confused: !

Christa

BTW, I love Instantcert, absolutely awesome way to learn!
