Does Sophia's Project Management still come to UMPI as BUS 141?
Posted by: berlinerd - 07-04-2024, 02:22 AM - Forum: UMPI - University of Maine at Presque Isle Discussion - Replies (7)

Sorry if I am asking in an incorrect thread, but...

does Sophia's Project Management still come to UMPI as BUS 141?

It's showing in mainestreet database as if yes. But I am ready to give an oath that I saw somebody here on forum telling that Sophia's course does not cover BUS 141.

Maybe I got hallucinations... trying to finish all this stuff and finally get my degree... Smile

  Online Electrical Engineering Degree
Posted by: OtterDen - 07-04-2024, 02:18 AM - Forum: General Education-Related Discussion - Replies (5)

In contrast to Computer Science, Electrical Engineering usually requires in campus study. This may be due to the fact that electrical engineering focus on hardware and requires physical labs to teach the materials, such as building a circuit.

Recently, there have been more fully online Electrical Engineering Bachelors programs that is accredited by ABET. Here is a list I found online from Reddit:

  • Old Dominion University - Computer Engineering

  • University of Arizona - Electrical and Computer Engineering

  • University of North Dakota - Electrical Engineering

  • Stony Brook University - Electrical Engineering

  • Arizona State University - Electrical Engineering

  • Florida International University - Computer Engineering

  • Mississippi State University - Electrical Engineering

  • Clemson University - Electrical Engineering

  • Lamar University - Electrical Engineering

  • Embry–Riddle Aeronautical University - Engineering

  • Indiana Tech - Electrical or Computer Engineering
A few years ago, ASU (Arizona State Universitywas the only institution offering fully online ABET accredited BSEE. There were others that were partly online, but would require you to visit occasionally for weeks at a time.

Something to keep in mind: Although it sounds close, Electrical Engineering Technology is a significantly different degree than Electrical Engineering.

Use this link to find out: https://amspub.abet.org/aps/name-search?...eOnly=true

This link will lead to a search page on the ABET (Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology) website. This specific URL is configured to search for accredited online programs in Electrical Engineering. ABET is a nonprofit, non-governmental organization that accredits post-secondary education programs in applied and natural science, computing, engineering, and engineering technology.

Using this link, you can find detailed information about accredited fully online electrical engineering programs. The search results would typically include information such as the name of the institution, the specific degree program, and its accreditation status, which ensures that the program meets certain quality standards important for future employment and licensing qualifications in engineering fields.

12-18 months PhD in Health Sciences - Faulkner University
Posted by: michaeladsmith2 - 07-04-2024, 01:10 AM - Forum: Doctorate Degree Discussion - Replies (18)

I recently contacted Faulkner University and spoke directly with Dr. Cody Thompson, Program Director.

Let me share two things.

1. I already hold a DHA (Doctor of Healthcare Administration) from Virginia University of Lynchburg. In speaking with him about transfer of doctoral credits, here is his direct response:

"Dr. Smith,

My apologies for the delayed response. It looks like I could give you credit for 8310, 8309, and 8306. I can't apply credit for multiple courses from the same course, and these are the most clear to apply to our coursework from your DHA.

Let me know if you have further questions.

Cody"

2. Outside of my specific scenario, the program is actually 18 months. 10 courses, plus Dissertation. The courses are all 5 weeks long [https://www.faulkner.edu/academic-resources/academic-calendar/#5week].

I would be done in less time based on three courses being transferred.

"This fully online graduate program consists of 10 didactic courses, totaling 30 credit hours, which can be completed in one full year. This is followed by five dissertation courses that total 15 credit hours. The dissertation phase can be completed in six months, depending on the student."

https://www.faulkner.edu/graduate/gradua...es-phd-hs/

And of course, Faulkner University is RA with the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC).

For a PhD it's pretty economical @ $780/credit x 45 credits = $35,100 (approx)

  Question about LawShelf
Posted by: TINASAM - 07-03-2024, 05:56 PM - Forum: General Education-Related Discussion - Replies (6)

Does anyone know where these courses could transfer into? Like what programs/degrees and from what schools? I'd love to take some of these, but would rather know that they can be brought in to some degree so that they can be useful.

I'm in the middle of a huge health flare and immense brainfog so I hope that the above makes sense, it does in my head. Smile

  IBM Machine Learning Professional Certificate
Posted by: Nukeme3 - 07-03-2024, 02:12 PM - Forum: General Education-Related Discussion - Replies (4)

I'm thinking about my next steps and decided to browse some certificate courses on Coursera.

I came across the IBM Machine Learning Professional Certificate and wanted to see if anyone on here has any prior experience with it.

I have just submitted the last of my Sophia credits for my BSCS from UoPeople and will be enrolling in HAU MBA later this year or early next. I'd like to take this opportunity to add a cert or two in the Machine Learning / AI space to pivot on my manufacturing engineering background.

I don't have much experience with data science aside from the coursework from UoPeople, but the concepts are there about cleaning data, regression, supervised/unsupervised learning and a brief introduction to R. I will absolutely need to brush up on R and these concepts with some (better) books on the subjects.

But has anyone else completed this course? Thoughts and opinions? Anyone have any other recommendations?

Question Upper Level & Social Sciences Credits for TESU
Posted by: Ninjadude - 07-03-2024, 02:10 PM - Forum: TESU - Thomas Edison State University Discussion - Replies (9)

Hi,

I'm close to finsihing my BA at TESU. I still need 24 credits and I'm trying to get as many of them through transfer credits.

I need 6 upper level credits (level 3000 or 4000) and also 3 Social Sciences credits (level 2000)

I didn't find anything that would suffice these credits on Sophia.org

Does anyone know where I might be able to get these credits besides taking classes at TESU for them?

Thanks a million for any information!

I'm posting a screenshot of the requirements in case it's more clear:

  I got a B on a class
Posted by: HappyPeanut - 07-03-2024, 12:49 PM - Forum: UMPI - University of Maine at Presque Isle Discussion - Replies (7)

I got a B in a class, but looking at the grades, I see there is no credit earned or added to my GPA. Does that mean I need to retake the class, or has the teacher not submitted the final grades?

Which states are these companies located?
Posted by: Heath - 07-03-2024, 11:26 AM - Forum: Saylor.org, Straighterline, Study.com, OnlineDegree.com, Sophia.Org Discussion - Replies (6)

I'm searching some college websites for transfer equivalencies.

I have found that Sophia is under the state of "Minnesota" on some colleges listings. Which states are the other known companies under?
