I'm searching some college websites for transfer equivalencies.

I have found that Sophia is under the state of "Minnesota" on some colleges listings. Which states are the other known companies under?

Capella University's request to offer the Bachelor of Science in Computer Science through its FlexPath competency-based education program was recently approved by Capella's regional accreditor, the Higher Learning Commission.

This will be a new program; Capella doesn't currently offer any degree titled in Computer Science. As of this writing the program isn't mentioned in Capella's catalog or on its FlexPath landing page.

Question UMPI Questions (upcoming student )
Posted by: MuneebAzhar - 07-02-2024, 06:18 AM - Forum: UMPI - University of Maine at Presque Isle Discussion - Replies (18)

Hey guys I've a plan to complete UMPI yourpace bachelor BBA PM&IS in two years completely from UMPI (I'm an international student
so my plan is to take

 5 sessions per year
4 courses per session = 12 credits per session
 1 year = 60 credits

My concerns :

Q1. How many courses can I take after starting like in 1st session am I allowed to take as many courses as I want or do I have to take a maximum of two courses and then complete them first wait for the responses of professors and then ask for adding more courses?

Q2. How much time does the professor take to grade?  until then you're unable to proceed to further classes?

Q3. Time management is extremely important to me which is also directly related to finances. so share your experiences with professors and their responses time line ?

As mentioned at the start my plan is to complete the whole degree in 2 years completely from UMPI with no transfer credits I'm mainly writing this post to get to know how many courses I can take per session how this works and how fast professors responds so one can add more courses and what's the process of adding courses after completion.

Thanks!

  Completed 20 classes this term
Posted by: Sean1234 - 07-02-2024, 12:02 AM - Forum: UMPI - University of Maine at Presque Isle Discussion - Replies (24)

Well I finally did it. I had been planning and working on my Pierpont, TESU, UMPI, Sophia, SDC, etc. plan since October 2022.
I finally finished the UMPI portion.
I did this last term, Summer 1, 2024.
After fighting and attempting to transfer in as much as possible to get the total class count needed to a minimum so that I could pick whatever else I wanted to reach the 10, I finally signed up. (Yes, I know you have to take a minimum of 10 classes. I'm so tired of every time someone responds with, "You have to take 10 minimum"... I know that).
I signed up for the BABA in Management and Leadership.
I completed 50 courses on Sophia, 12 on SDC, CSM Learn, and 1 on Straighterline.
I only needed 6 required classes to finish with UMPI, and 4 of anything else.
The classes were much, much, much easier than I had anticipated. Obviously some being longer than others (BUS 325, & BUS 489).
I ended up adding on a History Minor, and a Project Management Certificate.
I completed 20 classes in the term, while also being enrolled in 2 classes at TESU.
I started taking classes that I didn't need at all just because they sounded interesting, like Federal Taxation 1.
Grades are being posted now, But from what I can see, I got all A's, except one A Minus.

If I could give myself advice 2 years ago, it would be to skip SDC completely, and go straight to UMPI after Sophia.

'Duped': Students of UA's new online college can't get jobs, say school misled them o
Posted by: smartdegree - 07-01-2024, 05:15 PM - Forum: General Education-Related Discussion - Replies (12)

Interesting article.
https://archive.is/Ixfje#selection-411.0-411.103

Some highlights:
"Heather Harris, a first-generation college student from southern Kentucky, completed a master's in psychology in January 2022 with a goal of helping families affected by addiction. But she soon discovered she couldn’t get a job in counseling without experience in the field or a state license — requirements she said school officials never discussed with her.

Harris returned to her previous job: a line worker at a sewing factory, making $9.50 an hour. She’ll soon have to start repaying $90,000 in student loans."

"According to Frazier, a UAGC enrollment specialist assured her that her military benefits would fully cover the cost of the advanced degree she sought — a Ph.D. in criminology — for 14 months.
“I asked her if I was going to be accumulating student loans. And she said ‘no,’ unless for whatever reason your GI Bill payment doesn’t go through,” Frazier said.
Her military benefits successfully went through, according to time logs reviewed by The Republic.
But three months later, Frazier noticed a change in her credit score. When she logged in to her federal student aid account, she was shocked to find a loan for over $8,000 taken out in her name and paid directly to UAGC without her knowledge.
“I saw that, and I was like, excuse my language, but 'What the f---?’” Frazier said."

"Multiple UAGC students interviewed by The Republic described feeling confused and misled by the repeated insinuation — reinforced by branded water bottles, T-shirts and other paraphernalia with UA’s logo — that they were equal University of Arizona students when they are denied the same academic opportunities.
"I just wish they would honor what they say they are,” said Jackson, who said the name change added “another layer of confusion.”
“It made us think maybe they would be different than Ashford, but it was the same thing,” he said.
After trying for months to land a job in his field of study without success, Jackson took a job driving a Frito-Lay truck. In addition to supporting his family, he had to begin paying off his student loans."

  TAMUC diploma arrived
Posted by: ltw900rr - 07-01-2024, 05:05 PM - Forum: General "Big 3", B&M colleges, and other colleges - Replies (9)

My wife and I both participated in graduation on May 11th at TAMUC in Commerce, Texas.
We were notified that degrees would be printed and available for pick up on June 10th-12th and then would be mailed out to anyone who did not pick up their diploma in person.
We received our diplomas in the mail today on July 1st.
My aunt was nice enough to buy us both frames for our diplomas for a graduation present.

This information may be helpful for future graduates who are curious about the timeline to receive their diploma.

If you graduated in May, have you received your diploma?

I also attached an edited picture of the diplomas if your curious what they look like.

I completed the BAAS Organizational Leadership Program, my wife completed the Bachelor of General Studies program.

I know the uploaded picture is not the best, my diploma says Bachelor of Applied Arts and Sciences, Summa Cum Laude, and my wife's says Bachelor of General Studies.

  Advisor Assigned & Minor Questions
Posted by: colonelcamp - 07-01-2024, 10:03 AM - Forum: UMPI - University of Maine at Presque Isle Discussion - Replies (13)

Hi Everyone,

I got my advisor assigned for my September 3 start and she's switching my program to BAS now (even before my august 2nd AAS conferral). I guess that's a nice time saver. Also, I asked what the minor options were under the BAS program and she gave me the following: Accounting, Criminal Just, Educ Studies, History, Mgmt, MIS, Poli Sci, Project Management, and Psych. In this link, there are a bunch more options for minors so I'm wondering if I'm only limited to these ones she gave me or if I could actually get any those minors. I'm considering the Mgmt minot, but I was also considering a Bussiness Admin minor so maybe I can double minor? I transferred a lot of Business ACE credits so I wonder if I can.

I sent her these questions and haven't heard back yet, but wanted to see what you all thought. By the way, since she reached out, she's been great. She gets back to me right away, even on weekends.

Thx!
