I am looking for an online CBE Master's in Security Management (or similar) program. This is not to be confused for information or cyber security. Criminal justice is not preferable unless if it has specialization options. I did my obligatory Google search but no luck. Figured I'd ask before giving up.
Hello, I am deciding between WGU and TESU for an IT degree, i originally wanted TESU because i figured it would be cheaper since i live in NJ, but i cant seem to figure out which courses I can use 3rd party sites for(like study.com) for the main ITS courses. I have an prebuilt excel sheet setup to do an IT degree at WGU, but I'm not sure if I should be doing these courses now, then applying/enrolling, or if i need to apply/enroll first and then do the courses. I just want to pull the trigger and start ASAP, so I'm leaning alot towards WGU for now, but I need to know if i should just start using study.com or if i need get accepted first, any insights/answers are greatly appreciated, thank you!
I've attached both the excel for WGU and TESU for anyone interested in looking, the TESU one is under construction still.
hello everyone,
I have an upcoming final exam on the MAT150 straighterline course. Has anyone taken this recently, and can share any tips, tricks, or just information on what types of questions can be expected?
The previous exams were not straight forward for me with the math problems being more complicated than I had grasped, and really need to do well in the final exam. Would appreciate any guidance from someone who has completed this recently.

Hi all. Mods please delete if this breaks any rule. Also sorry for any formatting issues as I’m posting from my phone.
I’m on the spectrum, high functioning in a lot of areas but my low functioning area is executing repetition. I’d like to work on my Sophia courses. So far I have paid hundreds and only completed 5 courses, which I completed in maybe a month. I need someone that will expect me to be sitting at my desk working on my courses for at least 3-4 hours a day, up to 7 days a week but not less than 5. Time of day never matters as long as it’s at least 5 days a week. I can work around your schedule and hop on whenever. I also don’t need help understanding the coursework, although the algebra course has been the main reason for the logjam so far.
I would prefer to stay in a discord or something during those hours but it’s not essential as long as there would be a touch base at the end of every session so that I have to show progress. In return I’m willing to cover your monthly Sophia cost until I complete enough courses to get either a BOG AA or to transfer to UMPI or something and finish a BA. Please message me or reply on this thread if interested. I’m on Pacific time but like I said I don’t care what time you choose as my schedule is unbound.
I’m asking in this forum because I’m sure you guys can understand the ADHD/ASD difficulties and empathize. Maybe if you are struggling with self motivation can help you while you help me.
Hello everyone. Since finnish universities are not an option anymore (or so I read), I wonder what's the best computer science online university for those starting in 2024. Here's my info:
Your Location: Italy, EU Your Age: 27 years this June What kind of degree do you want?:Computer science Current Regional Accredited Credits: None Current ACE, CLEP, or NCCRS Credits: None Any certifications or military experience? No Budget: Around $10.000 - $15.000. 15k feels like going all-in, but if it's worth, I'll do it Commitments: Full time job (unrelated from the field of study). Fortunately I am able to study at work most of the time Dedicated time to study: I'll try to put 30 hours per week Timeline: I aim to expat in 2 years Tuition assistance/reimbursement: I don't believe I'm eligible for tuition assistance Schools: I dropped out from the University of Bologna after completing courses in Microeconomics and Accounting.
My ultimate goal is to secure a remote job as a SWE, or in a related related field. Therefore, I'm looking for a regionally accredited degree program that is recognized globally. I hope this isn't too ambitious of a goal. WGU would be perfect, but they don't accept non US residents. UMPI doens't have compsci.
Through my research on this forum, I've found TESU and SNHU to be promising options, but I couldn't find information on the total cost. Additionally, I'm wondering if having a BA degree from TESU rather than a BS would pose any challenges in finding a job.
Any insights or recommendations would be greatly appreciated!
Thank you!
Around 6 months ago, I remember seeing that the school offered master's degrees in IT and Cybersecurity management through their competency-based ExcelTrack program.
Out of curiosity, I went to check Purdue University Global's ExcelTrack page just now. As it turns out, their graduate-level selection has been reduced to just their MSN, Nurse Executive Leader, and MBA degrees. It seems like more schools are getting rid of some CBE options, like NAU with all of their Personalized Learning degree programs.

Part 2:
Looking at
WGU:
Pro:
Program looks great, pricing looks great, might not feel as pressured /racing against the clock due to billing cycles compared to Capella
Cons:
Only offers B.S. Psychology
Capella:
Pros:
Has both BS & Masters - and AMP
Has multiple options for B.S. Psychology, including ABA (but unsure if I should pigeonhole myself in with a niche degree)
Cons:
ABA is not on a FlexPath, only option is General Psychology
UMPI:
Pros:
Classes look right up my alley
Cons:
Only offers (and newly so) B.A. Psychology - The program may be rocky to start
Rumors school is overwhelmed with applications
Overview: Unemployed in Silicon Valley Tech with experience in workplace services, events, and facilities. Ex-Coursera employee, excels in module-based learning and fast course completion. Applied to CSU/UC schools for Fall but prioritizing completing a degree sooner from anywhere due to age/experience. Emphasizing speed in this decision.
Budget: Being unemployed and having used up all general FAFSA aid, cost matters, but it's not the main factor for me in choosing a program. For instance, I'd consider paying $8k for an accelerated B.S. program if it provides quick benefits, but not $20k.
Commitments: Elementary school-aged kids, many soccer activities (I do homework while waiting), unemployed step-son causing stress, blue-collar husband, 2 huskies, extended family obligations, gatherings, etc. Only 1 friend - so I'm not concerned about my non-existent "social life" becoming a hindrance.
Dedicated time to study: When I got laid off in 2022, I was dedicating 6-8+ hours to school each day, 4-6 times a week. Current commitment, if I take an accelerated program, that means easing up on job seeking, thus I plan to channel that energy into completing my classes. I anticipate studying for at least 30 hours a week on weekdays and weekend nights. I'm currently taking 2 online classes community college classes and staying ahead, but I feel frustrated waiting for the class to catch up or for modules/quizzes to become available, leading to unnecessary downtime.
Timeline: As fast as humanly possible.
Tuition assistance/reimbursement: None, will apply for grants and cross my fingers
Other info: Background - For a decade, I've been just one class away from finishing my AA degrees because I struggled with college-level Algebra. Last year, I found out I could replace it with Stats. Excelling in Stats now, thanks to its online format with many instructional videos. Back in October 2023, an advisor urged me to pursue my bachelor's degree, almost making me laugh as I thought it wasn't for me. Never considered going further for a BA degree due to doubts about passing math/science requirements or being smart enough for Psychology. But with the success I've found with online classes, and getting my ADHD under control, which had unknowingly hindered my focus on challenging subjects, I feel confident to pursue my passion. And yes, I'm that girl who is obsessed with true crime documentaries and podcasts.
Type of learner: I'm a type A person who excels at organizing classes, schedules, and planning for deadlines. I take detailed notes and am a visual learner. Writing papers is not an issue for me, although I'm a bit worried about burnout. However, I'm determined to push through it. Proctored tests are fine as long as the format and requirements are reasonable. I'm not willing to fail due to factors beyond my control, like unexpected interruptions.
I am so happy to update you that my brother has just submitted his final assignment for his UMPI BAS with a minor in Info Systems and PM degree!! He is ecstatic. He does not post on this forum, but he knows about it and he is eternally grateful for this resource.
This forum has been life-changing for me and him. I could never thank enough everyone on here who has replied and helped us shape our degree plans. Truly this is an incredible positive resource on the internet, it brings me to tears to think of this community. I will try to 'pay it forward' as much as I can by posting replies to help people with their own journeys.
Info on my brother's journey:
-Like me, he had two previous attempts at community college that did not stick. We both have been on our own since we were 18 and had to work to pay for our lives, and community college never worked out.
-Started with less than 20 credits
-Started on Sophia
-Struggled with Study, ultimately spending months stuck on Study classes (life happening and loss of motivation).
-Utilized TADA to it's maximum benefits. He seriously took every course on Coursera through TADA that UMPI accepted for credits
-Got the AAS with Info Sys concentration from Pierpont
Time: 17 months, with some breaks and slow periods
Cost: 3.5k
UMPI: 1 term - 12 classes
UMPI experience: started off a bit difficult with a PM class that dragged on but was able to pick up speed and finish before the term ended.
What's next: Taking a break and considering a Master's. His partner is working through a BLS in Management plan.
