  Intro to psychology
Posted by: rmullins - 08-25-2007, 09:10 PM - Forum: General Education-Related Discussion - Replies (2)

Hello everyone. I have been lurking for sometime.
I have enjoyed all of the wonderful tips on here and the
way you all encourage one another.
My first clep is intro to psych. I am very nervous about it.
What wonderful tips can you all give me for studying?
I have read on here several times about people just studying for
a few days and take the test and pass.
How do you study that quickly?
Thanks for any advice

  ECE exam Question

For all who have taken them - I just registered for my first exam: question is, they say you have to request a 50% refund or forfeit your exam fee. How do I do this and is this neccesary? I am just waiting for my username and pw for the pearsons site so I can start rockin' those ece exams. Cool

  Natural Sciences?

Thought I would get you test veterans' opinion. I was thinking about taking the Natural Sciences CLEP in about 5 days. It has been a little over a month since I took Biology. In your opinion from taking the Natural Science exam, do I need more study time?

  Passed Marketing today
Posted by: Drummerboy - 08-24-2007, 01:53 PM - Forum: General Education-Related Discussion - Replies (6)

Hello all,

I just got in from taking the Principles of Marketing Clep. I studied about 8 days, going over instantcert flashcards three times, some two and writing all the terms on note cards. I used a practice test from 4tests.com and the Official Collegeboard practice exam. I also used a link from the specific feedback forum and good ole wikipedia on problem areas. I scored 61 without any real prior knowledge in this field.

This test seemed a little harder to me than the Management. My advice to those who plan on taking Marketing is simply to study. You'll get it if you apply yourself.Wink

Thanks to all of you on the forum for your support!

Principles of Supervision DSST and Management CLEP
Posted by: Stunner - 08-24-2007, 09:14 AM - Forum: General Education-Related Discussion - Replies (1)

I am taking Supervision and Management next. I usually study pretty hard for these exams (passed 5 in 4 weeks) but heard these were one of the easier exams. I took 1 peterson practice test and received a 60. What are the chances of me passing these tests just by reading the 50 or so page study guide for Supervision and taking the practice tests? Also does anyone got any more study material for either of these tests.

  Three tests in 5 weeks!

I only need 9 more credits to get my degree, so I'm going for the CLEPs. I'm going to do Introduction to Sociology, US History I and II. I feel pretty good about Sociology as I've had some psychology courses. I am petrified over the thought of US History! I haven't cracked the cover on a history book in 20 years. I sure hope all those shows on Discovery channel will help! I purchased the REA books for each class. I'm doing Sociology first and am using a combination of REA reading and IC flash cards. It seems like it's going pretty well so far. Will this same strategy fly for US History?

  political science exams
Posted by: originalbigjim - 08-23-2007, 08:50 PM - Forum: General Education-Related Discussion - No Replies

Hey guys, I am kind of a lurker on this site and it has helped me a lot over the past two years since I started my educational pursuit and now my BS is coming to a close. I am enrolled in excelsior college and once this term is over I hope to be done, but there is one little snag, I need 3 more upper level credits in political science, I would like to avoid another class because I hope to start on my masters right away. I have already taken World conflict since 1900 feeling cocky because I nailed the practice sheet so i studies minimally, I ended up with a D Sad , I was wondering if anyone else knew of any other exams I could take to fulfill this last 3 credits in political science. Thanks guys.

First let me thank everyone in advance for your assistance..I have just gotten my unofficial evalution for the BSLS. I have complete a good portion of my intro classes at a B & M. Can someone help me choose the best and fastest path to earn my degree. If possible could someone add their study recommendations (in addition to IC or if IC prep alone will do):

Here it is
I. General Education (Arts & Sciences Requirement)
4.00 semester hours at the lower level
21.00 semester hours at the upper level

Depth Requirements

A depth in the Arts & Sciences

II. Applied Professional Credits or Additional Arts & Sciences
13.00 semester hours lower level in any academic area

  Nightmare at the testing center!
Posted by: et4tango - 08-23-2007, 05:50 PM - Forum: General Education-Related Discussion - Replies (4)

Dear forum members:

I need to vent.
I had scheduled to take Am. Lit today at the testing center I have been using for the last few months. I had to wait a few minutes, the system was slow and it was a specially busy day.
I get to start my test and after the 3rd. question it starts to show the dreaded hourglass asking me to wait, by the 8th question it just blew, the screen went blank after flashing an scary "Servers Down" message.
All of us taking Cleps were sent to wait in the reception room, we waited.
By now I had been there almost three hours and my nerves were failing.
Finally, the administrator offered to come on Sat. morning and let us finish what we started.
I am terrified that this will be considered a failed exam.
She promised that will not be the case and she got on the phone with College Board right away.
Is there anything I should do on my part?
It seems that the testing center servers were the culprits.
I am a little frazzled right now.
Sorry for the long diatribe.
