The final 21 UL credits! |

I have to finish my final 21 credits for my liberal arts section of my BS in LS (H), what did everyone else here take? I actually have knocked out 5 UL credits already with an occupational course and Civil War and Reconstruction. Any thoughts on this? My goal is to finish this before the spring (Jan). I have not officially had my credits transferred to Ece yet, this is just what is listed in my military transcript.
Thanks for looking!

IC Enough? What exams did you just use IC for? |

Hi, everyone!
I thought it might be nice to see how IC worked for you. Which tests did you use JUST IC for, and what was your score? Also, which tests did you need outside information (textbooks, etc.) for?
Here are my experiences:
Just IC
CLEP
- Principles of Management - 71
- Info. Systems and Computer Applications - 62
- Principles of Marketing -73
- American Government - 64
- History of the US 1 - 77
IC + outside info
CLEP
- Principles of Accounting - 64 (I used a textbook for extra practice, but I believe IC would probably have been enough)
DSST
- Principles of Statistics - 72 IC was not enough because I needed more practice to understand how it all fit together. The Statistics Workbook for Dummies and the Princeton Review's Cracking the AP Statistics Exam helped me in addition to Instant Cert. (However, I definitely NEEDED IC in addition to these books... they were a nice combination.)
BEFORE IC
Tests I took before I joined IC
CLEP
Calculus - 67 (Used Saxon Calculus and Superstar Teachers Calculus videos - The Teaching Company : Educational Courses on DVD, Audio CD, and Audio Tape- Lecture Series by College/University Professors)
Principles of Macroeconomics - 71 Macroeconomics by Campbell McConnell and Stanley Brue
Principles of Microeconomics - 75 Microeconomics by Campbell McConnell and Stanley Brue
CLEP PAPER TESTS - taken a LONG time ago!
Spanish - 68 I studied Spanish with BJU HomeSat during high school, I listened to Bible in Spanish tapes at night, and I practiced speaking as much as possible with friends at church
French - 58 (in paper tests this is a 4 semester credit) I studied French with BJU HomeSat during highschool
Freshman College Comp - 66 I studied ABeka Grammar during high school
English Comp with Essay - 530 (passing 420) ditto
College Algebra - 68 I studied Saxon Algebra and Advanced Math textbooks during high school
Trigonometry - 67 ditto
College Mathematics - 75 ditto
Chemistry - 42 (passing was 47) :-( I only studied BJU Chemistry with HomeSat and the BJU high school textbook. I should have studied a college level book, because I knew the BJU book backwards and forwards. I remember not knowing a lot of the names of the Chemistry equipment for labwork.
That's about the sum of it!

Easier?? Praxis II Middle School Math or CLEP College Math |

Hello All,
I know everyone's mileage varies when assessing which test is harder than another because of their background. However, I wonder if anyone has taken the Praxis II Middle School Math test and the CLEP College Math tests and can give me a comparison.
I took the Praxis II back in June and met my state's required passing score (141) with a 164 (did poorly on the written response, no time left). I thought I was good to go with my degree from TESC but I couldn't use my education classes to oblige my Gen. Ed. requirements. So I have to take the CLEP Math this monday to gain my 6 hours to graduate. Graduation/ Employment resting on 1 test 90 minutes long...ugghh!
Any info concerning which test is "more difficult" is greatly appreciated. Thanks!
Studying in NC,
Jason

TECEP Industrial Psychology, Upper-Level Business Credit |

I talked with the business department at Excelsior. I had asked them if the TECEP exam in Industrial Psychology would count as upper level credit for the business degree. As you all know, you must have 4 upper level business courses, not counting your core courses, to earn a business degree. I was told that this exam will count as one of the four courses. However, this exam is not listed as one of the acceptable ways to earn the upper level credit by exam. Reviewing the exam material, there is know doubt in my mind this should be considered business or arts/sciences credit depending on your program.
I know this course counts towards the Management of Human Resources. I would just hate to take this exam then have Excelsior inform me it does not count as upper level business credit.
When I get a definite answer, I will let everyone know. This would add another exam everyone could consider if pursuing your business degree.

Recently I decided I would give online schools and the CLEP exams a shot after being hired full time at Citigroup after interning as a senior in high school. I can't fit in school and don't want to give up the great opportunity to get a jump start on my career. I was able to complete one year at a B&M college and have 24 credits to show for it.
Ok so I've narrowed down the school to Regis because it has a B&M campus and has been on the newsweek top schools in the nation list for 12 years which is a major plus for me. I've also narrowed down the CLEP/DSST exams I want to take to the following
Principles of Financial Accounting
Principles of Marketing
Principles of Management
Introductory Business Law
Principles of Microeconomics
Principles of Statistics
Principles of Finance
Money and Banking
College Level Spanish Language
Personal Finance
Now my question is where should I start? Is there an order which would make it easier? Any tips for a newbie? Any reviews on Regis?....I'll take any advice in good light.

New REA Macro and Micro on the way!! |

Fellow Testers,
REA is coming out with a new Macroeconomics and Microeconomics books. Macro comes out July 30th and Micro is in September, I believe. The original REA books, to me anyway, were not very good. However, the new books should be more in the format of REA's most recent ones which shoud make studying more focused and when used with InstaCert should make these two exams passable. I know some on this site have had trouble with these exams, but REA is starting to churn out more CLEP book materials and that is good for everyone! I love their study materials.
Too bad I have moved onto my upper-level DSST exams..LOL.

Analyzing and Interpreting Literature, Pass! |

Well, I bought the REA book, studied for one day and took the Analyzing and Interpreting Literature today. Passed with a 66!! For everyone reading this, take caution. This exam is a monster. Lots of reading, obviously. It took me the full 90 minutes to complete the exam and I thought I had failed miserably, but was pleasantly suprised when I saw the 66 flash on the computer.
You can not study for this exam effectively. Just buy the REA book, learn the the definitions and take the practice tests; hopefully you will pass as well, and get 6 college credits.
