  University Shopping
Posted by: Cade - 06-07-2007, 07:50 PM - Forum: General Education-Related Discussion - Replies (5)

Hello all,
I have a question for the "forum of the experienced". I am shopping for a school to get an associates (in business) with. This year I started after a Bachelor in Security Management; I have 30 credits so far. My thought was to use my 46 electives, witch would be clep tests, towards an associates with a different school. The residency requirements are too expensive at my school.

I need a cheap school with no residency requirements. I know about TESC and Excelsior, but is there another school I should consider? And, does this plan sound possible?

Your advise would not be lost on me.

Thanks,
Cade

Perception of "Here's to Your Health" by Grad Progams/Law School
Posted by: mstcrow5429 - 06-07-2007, 07:23 PM - Forum: General Education-Related Discussion - Replies (3)

I'm somewhat concerned that if I take the "Here's to Your Health" DSST exam, it will (and maybe is) be seen as a throw away course by grad school/law school applications. Do others think this is the case? Any exams one should avoid if they are planning to pursue post-grad education? Thanks.

I know at least one person here has garnered credit for a MOS/MOUS cert. Has anyone successfully gotten credit for MOS 2003? (I have an email into Excelsior, but they weren't sure.)

Developments at my job are making me considerably MORE interested in certification than usual, so it's time. I don't want to spend the time and money on a cert that won't be eligible for credit, so I need to figure out which one to go for.

Anyone MOS 2003-ers out there?

Can anyone tell me if the Social Science and history exam is worth 6 credits?? Also, I would like to hear some feedback on how difficult the exam was.
Thanks for any help!

Easiest Test - Little to No Studying?
Posted by: kmcfadden - 06-07-2007, 02:07 PM - Forum: General Education-Related Discussion - Replies (7)

Just wanted to say thanks for all your help. I passed two DANTES exams since joining this board in the last two weeks. Personal Finance on 5/22 and Here's to Your Health on 6/5. :p

I now need to make up for the Drug and Alcohol Abuse exam that I did NOT pass. Sad And I was thinking about Intro to Business and/or Principles of Supervision. Which one is easier? Are they both pretty easy?

I'm trying to get at least two more under my belt within the next two weeks. I'm trying to graduate (BS/BA) from Thomas Edison this year. The credits have to be in by July. And I'm also taking three other classes at community colleges two online. So I'm swamped and would appreciate whatever advice you had on easy exams.

I've searched the posts for an answer and I can't find what I'm looking for.

Does anybody know if you have to enroll at TESC to use their Credit Banking services??

Public Speaking course from Brigham Young
Posted by: kbing97 - 06-07-2007, 06:49 AM - Forum: General Education-Related Discussion - Replies (3)

If you are looking for an alternative to the Dantes Public Speaking test, I recommend the Public Speaking course (TMA150) from Brigham Young. I just completed the course. It took me about a month to complete the assignments plus another couple of weeks to get my final grade. The instructor is great and the lessons are easy to follow. No textbook is needed - all of the material is online. The course is completely self-paced and you have up to a year to complete 9 lessons.

Many thanks to forum members who originally mentioned BYU! The following thread was very helpful to me:

I keep hearing that math in hard, why do some posting say it is not. I think it is because of the timing of the test, maybe? Did you study only with IC for math? any books or suggestions? should I rahter do it wiht the college?

I just took the Peterson's practice test for HUmanities and I got 57 right out of 150 question! That may be a record low. I just don't see how I will remember all this information, it is so hard!!!
