  Excelsior Questions
Posted by: brownstien - 02-15-2007, 03:58 PM - Forum: General Education-Related Discussion - Replies (4)

Being that they are closed due to snow I'll ask here...

1) In reviewing the materials for the Buisness degree, I see there is a requirement of "must complete a minimum of 12 credits in advanced business electives".

Where do I find more detailed information on this requirement? I've looked everywhere and can't see it.

2) Under the required business components, are the courses "business policy", "production/operations management", "princlples of management", Business law" and "financial accounting" available as exam-only credit? I see some are available as clep but not sure of the rest?

Sorry if these are bad questions but Im new.

Thanks!

Help! Taking DSST Management Information Systems MIS and CLEP Sociology on Monday
Posted by: barcotta - 02-15-2007, 02:04 PM - Forum: General Education-Related Discussion - Replies (11)

I have thoroughly scoured this forum using search tools and looking at the thread name on all 50 pages of the general forum. I had to do that because, unfortunately, all the words in Management-Information-Systems are too common and yield too many unrelated results, and MIS is too short for the search function!

In any event, any advice on either exam would be GREATLY appreciated. I've thoroughly studied InstantCert for both and am about to try the CLEP Sociology practice exam. That's all I got. I haven't yet found a practice source for the MIS exam. I read all the conflicting opinions re. Petersons and plan to try that--I hope I have a link that works. Some of the historical info here is no longer valid.

Any info at all would be greatly appreciated. Thanks to InstantCert and this forum I did very well on my CLEP ISCA and DSST Intro to Computing so I want to keep the momentum going. Thanks!

  12 Credits Left...Any Suggestions?
Posted by: moglesby - 02-15-2007, 10:20 AM - Forum: General Education-Related Discussion - Replies (4)

Hello everyone!

I'm a newbie to InstantCert but have heard so many great things about it that I have decided to give it a try in completing the remaining credits for my BA in History & Social Science.

I have 12 credits left to complete by June 1 2007 in order to qualify for a full scholarship to obtain my Master's degree. Needless to say, since I don't have that much time (work full time and am taking 3 regular courses now which will be done by March 15) I don't have time to re-take any if I fail.

Here's my list:

Humanities CLEP 6 (or Into to Psych CLEP 3 & Intro to Religion DSST 3)
US Hist 1 CLEP 3
US Hist 2 CLEP 3

I must admit I am a little intimidated by the Humanities CLEP. Not sure if I should try it or if the other two, Psych and Religion, would be easier).

Working on free electives and have satisfied all upper level requirements so I can really take anything. If there are any easier exams I could complete with minimal effort I welcome the input.

Any suggestions?

Mally

  Excelsior Application Timing
Posted by: AMPawlak227 - 02-15-2007, 09:01 AM - Forum: General Education-Related Discussion - Replies (1)

Hi All -

I'm getting ready to submit my application to Excelsior. My testing will be finished up within the next few months and I want to confirm that I'm on the same page as them on my existing credits.

My question is - how do I handle the CLEP tests I take after I apply at Excelsior but before I enroll? There will be a delay while they evaluate my application. Can I send my score directly to them even before the enrollment process is complete? I'd rather not have to pay for another CLEP transcript.

Thanks!!
