Racking up Sophia Credits - What's Next? |

First, I just want to say that you all have inspired me! I signed up for Sophia.org last month and have been loving it! A degree is starting to feel like it is in reach!
Now I need to get serious and nail down a plan. Based on my research in this thread, I think I want to max out Sophia courses and then apply at UMPI. Can you help me figure out which Sophia courses I need to take next (if I take 10 more - I should be at 90 credits)? Any UMPI advice or if there is a better option that UMPI for me?
Thank you in advance for your help!

HELP! SDC to UMPI transfer |

Still waiting on a response from my latest transfer, but has anyone had issues transferring these classes from SDC to UMPI?
Business 102: Principles of Marketing (v.4) to cover BUS 330
Business 106: Human Resource Management to cover BUS 321
They both show as equiv on the Credly/Ace transfer page, but DO NOT cover on the Study.com page. The classes have "multiple" SDC options according to the ACE page.
Which one is correct, or should I just wait and see?

Robert Cavelier University Journey |

So I came across this school and you know what I decided to take the plunge. They offer an MBA program that is currently on 70% tuition discount. I figured its because they are a new school (2021) and need to meet certain requirements for accreditation.
Online USA MBA Program | Robert Cavelier University (rcu.education)
So far the school has been really helpful and responses have been quick and solid. No complaints on the administration side.
They are not accredited, they are however conditionally licensed by the Board of Regeants in the state of Lousiana and digging around on the Baord of Regeants website I see they are indeed licensed and seeking accreditation with the legit DEAC. I didn't see anything on the DEAC side, so maybe they're in the early stages.
Licensed-Institions-for-WEBSITE-11.2.21.pdf (laregents.edu)
They are definitely not a diploma mill.
The reason I signed up is simple. I remember when both smart.ly and University of the People were unaccredited, I got into their programs and got scared of non-utility and lost out on a deal.
They require standard stuff for a grad program entry, undergrad transcripts, cvs, degrees etc etc.
I applied, got accepted and classes start the 18th of March.
I know its risky cause they have no accreditation yet, but they seem to be trying to do the right thing and I'm hoping they do succeed, then I would have gotten a cheap MBA. I think it def has more merit than something like ENEB lol. Its a legit but unaccredited school.
I was wondering what are you guys thoughts, classes start the 18th March and looking at the schedule, it will be done next year around this same time. Worse case I learn something, I mean I was thinking of doing the Thunderbird grad cert and hoping it will give 15 credits, but I may cancel that and focus on this. I mean it is a legal degree and I will learn something so its not a problem.

University of Wisconsin - Flexible Program (BSBA Degree) |

Hello, I wanted to write about my experience taking the Business of Science in Business Administration (BSBA) at University of Wisconsin - Parkside (Flexible) degree. Initially, I was very excited to get started. The enrollment process was rather quick and seamless. They even accepted pretty much all my college credits, so I transferred in with 73 College credits. Obviously I was super stoked! But that excitement soon turned into confusion and regret.
The classes they have are in Canvas. It is not competency based nor do you take any assessments to test out what you already know; in comparison to The Strut Learning platform UMPI and UMass uses, and/or even WGU's own learning platform. The UW Flexible program is pretty much a traditional college format that is fully online, but without any due dates. It has a ton of work for each course: Heavy writing for papers, crazy projects, and ultimately even final assessments or exams. There's several "competencies" within one course and within the assignments for the course. Also, the syllabus's have incorrect information and a lot of the information provided in the canvas courses/assignments have broken links and are outdated.
If you're okay with going to a program that isn't CBE, doesn't give you letter grades, requires physical books for most courses, and is pretty much a traditional college school setting then by all means, give it a go. But if you are looking for a true CBE school, please look into WGU, UMPI, and/or UMass.
Although, it does seem like letter grades are given for general education courses, but I have yet to confirm this.
Here is the BSBA Course Catalog:
Business of Science in Business Administration Course Catalog
General Ed Course Catalog Options for Parkside:
General Ed Courses for UW Parkside
General Education Courses Syllabus:
BIO 141: Heredity
HES 209: Nutrition and Weight Management Course
Here are some of the course syllabus for the first few courses I'm signed up for directly related to the BSBA:
Microeconomic Market Analysis I
Introduction to Business Administration
Sales Data Analysis and Communication Using Spreadsheets and Statistics
My Academic Plan of Study: Shows what is left and etc. in order to complete the BSBA:
APS
I hope this helps anyone considering University of Wisconsin - Flexible degree option. I took a chance since there was very limited information on this program. I do realize that nothing is ever one size fits all, so this may be work well for someone. But I would NOT recommend this to anyone who wants a competency based degree with the intent of completing it quickly.

PhD top-up programs? |

So thinking ahead, my hope is to enroll in the 3 year DSc in Public Safety at Middle Georgia State U. However, as that is a DSc, I am prepared if needs be, to obtain a PhD afterwards to secure an academic posting.
That having been said, are there any relatively cheap online programs designed to provide a PhD to those with an EdD, DSc, or other professional doctorate?
I know of top-up programs for an EdS to finish an EdD, but a top-up PhD after a DSc is something I am not sure of...NA/RA would not matter as the DSc is RA. Main thing here for the PhD would be price and online mode of study.

Hello,
I am new to Degree Forum. I am trying to transfer 113 of the 120 credits to Excelsior University. I have found how to transfer most of the classes in except the following:
- BUS 323 - Business Ethics (Maybe from Sophia, not confirmed)
- BUS 231 - Business Data Literacy
- BUS 431 - Business Data Analysis
- BUS 222 - Business Communication (Maybe from Sophia, not confirmed)
Has anyone transferred these in from a 3rd party website? Or know where I can? I would really appreciate any help. Thank you!

Hello everyone.
I work in IT as a Service Desk Specialist. I want to join UMPI but saw that they don't have a Major in IT / CS.
However, they do have a Bachelor of Liberal Studies – Management Information Systems Minor.
My question is how would this look on my actual Diploma? Will it show both the Major and Minor? Like this
--> "Bachelor of Liberal Studies – Management Information Systems Minor" Or
will it only show the Major? Like this --> "Bachelor of Liberal Studies"
Do you have other course suggestions based on my criteria?
Thanks in advance.
Location: Paris, France
Age:40
What kind of degree do you want?: IT degree/ Computer Science. I am also open for suggestions.

Budget: I have a max of $2K saved up. I'd like to go the cheapest route possible.
Commitments: Honestly, just me, no kids/spouse. I am currently unemployed so I can work on my studies full time and on the weekends.
Dedicated time to study: I can study as much as is needed during the night or weekends as my schedule is free. I estimate at least 10 to 14 hours every day of the week and on the weekends.
Timeline: Finishing the courses required for the degree as fast as possible would be ideal. I would like to finish within (3 months).
Tuition assistance/reimbursement: I get no assistance whatsoever.
I prefer competency based education (because I like assessments, assignments and have test anxiety).
I am from France so I get no fianancial aid, not grants or scholarships.
