Am I ready for the College Algebra CLEP???
Posted by: DixieGirl - 08-06-2007, 05:28 PM - Forum: General Education-Related Discussion - Replies (2)

I just finished Algebra II in the spring. I took my first REA test recently and scored a 50%, I reviewed my answers and one of three things that was giving me a lot of trouble. Then I took another test and scored a 60%. The one thing that I am having the most trouble with is logarithms. On the REA test there has been about seven logarithms questions per test and I guess I am scared to take the actual CLEP because I am afraid there will be a bunch of those questions that I don't know. Do y'all think that I am ready for the test?Sad

Thanks,
DixieGirl

  newbie question
Posted by: rdegrand - 08-06-2007, 02:30 PM - Forum: General Education-Related Discussion - Replies (2)

I'm interested in taking the IS and computer applications test. The test on this site is given as fill-in-the-blank. Is this the same as the CLEP ? I thought all of the tests were multiple choice.

thx

  Stats and Algebra??
Posted by: cookderosa - 08-06-2007, 12:44 PM - Forum: General Education-Related Discussion - Replies (1)

Opinions please- Does a person need to have a good grasp of Algebra in order to pass the stats exam? And, if a person does not have a good grasp of Algebra, would it be better to work through that first? Thanks!!

Cost Comparison TESC Excelsior BSBA GM
Posted by: hsing - 08-06-2007, 12:49 AM - Forum: [ARCHIVE] Excelsior, Thomas Edison, and Charter Oak Specific Discussion - Replies (15)

I am trying to make a final decision on enrollment for BSBA General Management between TESC and Exelsior. Will some of you vets please look over this comparison and see if I am overlooking anything? THANKS!

TESC:
Application Fee: $75.00
Tuition: $2,300.00
Technology Services Fee: $97.00
Graduation Fee: $225.00
Total: $2,697.00

Excelsior:
Application Fee: $75.00
Tuition: $895.00
Technology Services Fee: $440.00
Graduation Fee: $495.00
Total: $1,905.00

Pros/Cons:
*TESC requires Pre-Calculus while Excelsior only requires College Algebra
* Excelsior requires Written English Requirement (LSU - $230)
* Excelsior requires Information Literacy ($290)
* TESC accepts FEMA (15+) directly while Excelsior will bank for $400

So, for me, in this degree plan, it seems pretty much a wash with TESC having a slight monetary advantage, albeit a stiffer math requirement.

Your comments, please?

  Course plan help -EC
Posted by: mjstewie - 08-05-2007, 09:54 PM - Forum: General Education-Related Discussion - Replies (7)

Hello,
I've just applied to EC for the BS/IT-General degree. I'd like to begin testing right away and postpone enrollment as long as possible($). To that end, I'm trying to develop a testing-road-map based on my "unofficial" evaluation. Any help would be greatly appreciated as I'm still getting my head around the system. Below is my eval; I'm bringing to the table several brick&mortar credits and an 2003 MCSE. Any advice on where I go from here with clep/dsst/ece/gre?

-Thank you

  Finding for a Single Variable
Posted by: mstcrow5429 - 08-05-2007, 08:39 PM - Forum: What does this Flashcard mean or Do this math problem for me - Replies (11)

If I'm finding X, and I have -1/2x + 3 = 1, I multiply each side by 2/1. However, if I have 1/2x + 3 = 1, I multiply each side by 2/1, not -2/1, correct? I think I'm missing a basic connection here. Thanks.
