BS in IT degree Plan and Advice
Posted by: tvelasquez - 06-23-2007, 01:10 PM - Forum: General Education-Related Discussion - Replies (13)

Hello everyone,

I accidently found this forum about 2 weeks ago, and what a great accident this has been. I have read a lot of intresting stories here and like most I’m movtiavated and compel to earning a Bachelor of Science in Information Technology degree with a Concentration in Network Management though Excelsior College. This is a great forum with lots of helpful/useful information!

I have not applied or enrolled yet, but was planning to apply next week after I complete Cisco CCNA exam and the CLEP Principle of Marketing, However, my questions are:

1. Can I use the FEMA credits for my free electives and how many electives will I have for a BSIT degree?
2. Will they accept the “D” I have in Sociology I heard someone mention that their “D” was accepted?

My game plan is to complete my degree within the next 3 months if not sooner, but I want to make sure that I’m not duplicating additional classes. Here is what I was planning to take within the next few weeks. Please let me know if you have any suggestions or a better game plan. Like most I need a degree NOW and will take any advice that will help me get there sooner. I look forward to your advice and comments.

My first step is to sign-up for instantcert.com

Week 1 (6/25): Take CCNA exam and Principle of Marketing
Week 2: (7/1): Take Principle of Management and Principles of Supervision
Week 3: (78): Take U.S. History II: 1865 to the Present, Principles of MicroEconomics and Principles of MacroEconomics

This should give me enough time to get my preliminary evaluation transcripts back from Excelsior, because it’s a little difficult to know what CLEP’s to take.

Here are the credit hours I currently have:

Microsoft MCSE: Aprox. 13 Credits

Franklin University
MIS300 MGMT INFO SYSTEMS A 4.00
BSAD Business Law B 4.00

Santa Fe Community College
MATH1003 Basic Math A 3.00

Principles of accounting- The final days
Posted by: 4dkids - 06-22-2007, 10:54 PM - Forum: General Education-Related Discussion - Replies (1)

First, A HUGE thank you to all who have posted before and provided the resources to help me pass my tests! I will take the Principles of Accounting on Wednesday. I have studied some principlesofaccounting.com(incredible site), some IC(another incredible siteWink ) and taken some tests. My Peterson's score was sad (40%), my Rudman scores are pretty good(80%), my practice CLEP yeilded 67%. I have four little ones and a new business so time is gold at the moment. My question is; would my time be better spent finishing the principlesofaccounting.com chapters, concentrating on IC or as many practice exams as possible. By the way I posted this somewhere else on the forum but am an amateur.Rolleyes

Need another reason to oppose the latest amnesty bill, S. 1639? How about the part where it would give reparations to German Nazis? See:

How did you get your screen name?
Posted by: auminer49r - 06-22-2007, 03:08 PM - Forum: Off Topic - Replies (3)

Recently I had a discussion with another IC forum member who asked about my screen name. What does it mean? Surely, someone with a chemistry background could figure it out. It has to do with an old occupation of mine.Wink (hint)

This topic has been covered in an old thread, however, there are many new people with strange new screen names. So, let me ask:

How did you come up with your screen names?

I'll come back and explain the story behind my screen name in another post.Smile Let's hear about yours!!!

  Credit for Toastmasters??
Posted by: annegirl - 06-22-2007, 12:23 PM - Forum: General Education-Related Discussion - Replies (9)

I was wondering if anyone has received college credit for Toastmasters speeches? I was a member for 2 years. During that time I gave 20 speeches, participated in a speech contest and did impromtu speaking every week at our club meetings.

It would be nice to get credit for something I have already done!!!hilarious

Thanks!

Posted by: Matymus - 06-22-2007, 11:18 AM - Forum: General Education-Related Discussion - Replies (11)

OK....here's the deal. I took 10 FEMA exams in 3 days. I want to make sure that these 10 exams WILL BE ACCEPTED by TESC, since I can't seem to find a working link on TESC's website to give me the right information. So, here's my list. If anybody can tell me if any one of these won't be accepted, please let me know.

IS-240 Leadership & Influence
IS-241 Decision Making and Problem Solving

CLEP Psychology exam group – which test first?
Posted by: rachelle - 06-21-2007, 06:23 PM - Forum: General Education-Related Discussion - Replies (8)

This summer I am taking:

CLEP Intro to Psychology
CLEP Educational Psychology
CLEP Human Growth and Development

Any suggestions on which one I should start with (which one would supply the best information base to prepare me for the other 2). I have no previous knowledge of psych.

ThanksSmile
