Is it worth it to sign up to study.com for only 1 course? |

I currently attend UMPI and decided to do a double minor with a minor in project management because I would only need to take 1 extra class, BUS 240. I saw that by taking study.com's Business 304: Leading Organizational Change I could transfer it in to umpi between terms to save time and boost my chances of finishing all my classes in the spring 1 term. The only issue is I've never used study.com (I've only ever used sophia and coursera) and the live proctoring sounds cumbersome. So what do you all think? Should I sign up to study.com just to do this one course or should I just do it at umpi? Or are there other alternatives I am unaware of?

Help designing a CS degree plan |

Hello! I just found this forum recently. Around 2 years ago I was working towards getting my BSCS at WGU, but life sidetracked me for a while. I've found myself in a situation where I have the liberty to work towards this again and I'm wondering if WGU is really the best choice for me. I've gone through the recommended links in the pinned posts and I'm mostly looking into TESU.
I was mainly looking at the TESU BA CS + BSBA CIS or the CS & Math double major, though the name change thing in the BSBA plan confused me a bit. I'm leaning more towards the double major but if the BSBA looks better I'd rather go for that.

From Blue Screens to Apple Dreams: My Mac Transition Story |

I've been a Windows PC user all my life, with the only experience I have with an Apple operating system being one of the early iPhone models that featured a 3.5" screen. When the Wi-Fi/Bluetooth chip in my iPhone failed, I switched to an Android device with a larger screen.
In my experience, Apple products typically cost about three times as much as their PC equivalents, which often use similar Intel chips. For example, the older Mac Mini models struggled with graphics performance until Apple introduced their own silicon chips.
Eventually, one of my PCs began to grind to a near halt. Simple tasks like viewing an image in the default Windows image viewer could take up to 30 seconds. Browsing certain news websites would frequently cause the system to lock up. Opening applications like CapCut could take around three minutes, and even waking the computer from sleep mode would take minutes. I needed a reliable solution. Although I have a gaming PC, it still relies on a traditional spinning hard drive.
When I saw the Mac Mini with the M4 chip go on sale, I realized it was too good a deal to pass up. Essentially, you can’t build a PC that matches the Mac Mini’s performance and energy efficiency at the same price point.
My Setup
- Mac Mini M4
- 16GB RAM
- 256GB SSD
- Base Model: $499 (Black Friday), $529 (Cyber Monday on Amazon), $599 (Regular Price)
Dell S3222DGM
32" LED Curved QHD FreeSync Gaming Monitor: $199
Accessories
Standard Windows PC keyboard and mouse connected to an Anker 4-Port USB 3.0 Hub with 5Gbps data transfer
First Impressions
This Mac Mini is, at times, up to 100 times faster than my Windows PC—no kidding. Applications open in about one second or less. Installing apps is quick and straightforward, especially considering they are Mac applications. The built-in speakers outperform those of most laptops, and the user interface is clean and intuitive.
My Issues
- Command Key: The Command key was initially confusing. I had to remap it to function as the Control key to copy and paste as I’m used to on Windows.
- Taking Screenshots: The process for taking screenshots is cumbersome. It involves pressing a combination of keys which is not intuitive.
- Closing Windows: On macOS, the close button is a red dot on the left side of the window, unlike the "X" on the right in Windows. It took some time to get used to.
Despite these minor issues, the folder system in macOS is similar to Windows, and the Dock serves a similar purpose to the Windows taskbar. For running Windows-only applications, options like Boot Camp, Crossover, Parallels, and Rosetta 2 are available. Personally, I don't miss anything from Windows, but I still use my gaming PC for gaming. It has an Nvidia GeForce GTX 1060, which, while slower than the current generation 4060 graphics card, is sufficient for most games at lower resolutions. I also plan to upgrade the hard drive to an SSD.
Overall, my transition to the Mac Mini with the M4 chip has been smooth, and I’m excited about the performance improvements and efficiency it offers. If anyone has additional advice on using a Mac or transitioning from a Windows PC, I’d love to hear it!

Hello Team,
Thanks to the forum, I am cursing the MAOL and hoping to finish in one term (8 weeks). However, since I received an email that the last draft submission is Friday, the 13th, I have a few three courses to go in the next two weeks.
I wanted to see if someone can help me with the 630, 640 and 650
- How many Modules or Milestones are in each course?
- If there is final assignment contains word paper and PowperPoint?
- For example, 600 has 3 Milestones, and the final is Word and ppt.
I wanted to plan ahead as I want to finish the 630 this week, please.
Also
MAOL gives you the Draft Final Assignement feedback, like a Bachelor's degree, and I have benefited from that.
So utilize that option.
Thanks
Kaka

TESU BA in History 24 new credits |

I'm considering doing a dual AOS BA in English and History. It would be a second BA for me and I previously took the Western Civ I and II and US History I and II CLEP exams when working on my first bachelor's degree. If I take these same courses from Study or Straighterline now would those Study or Straighterline credits count toward the new 24 credits I have to earn for each AOS? I have plenty of upper-level humanities courses that can meet the 18 credit UL requirement, so I'm not worried about that.

Tuition assistance/reimbursement: Possibility through work, but unsure how much exactly they will cover. I'm going on the assumption they will cover zero.
Further information: I completed my University Certificate in Public Administration from Athabasca University earlier this week. I would like to now earn a bachelor's degree from the University of Maine at Presque Isle in History and Political Science, with a concentration in Political Science, and a minor in Management. I believe I understand which courses I should take through Sophia and Study.com before transferring into UMPI to maximize the 90 credit transfer. However, I do have some questions below, please and thank you!
Questions:
1. If I take U.S. Government from Sophia, does this cover both the requirement in the political science major (POS 101: American Government) and the 5E requirement in the general education requirements? Or would I have to take another course to fulfill the 5E general education requirement?
2. Is it possible to have UMPI assess my transfer credits from Athabasca University to see what courses and requirements they fulfill, and then complete any Sophia/Study.com courses needed to fill in the gaps before starting the courses at UMPI? The reason I am asking is that many of the Athabasca University courses are not in UMPI's transfer database, and some of them may fulfill some of the general education/major/minor requirements without me having to take another course. For example, I think the INST 203 (Indigenous Studies I) course I completed at Athabasca University may fulfill the 5A general education requirement.
3. Somewhat related to question #2, if some of my Athabasca University credits transfer in as upper level political science credits, would that waive some of the political science major course requirements for the degree? Or are the courses listed for the political science major on YourPace's website rigid and must be completed as stated?
Thank you!

question about UK level 7 diplomas |

so been reading through the wiki about UK post-graduate diplomas, and it peaked my interest , went to look into the OTHM and ATHE websites and from my understanding these are awarding bodies, and that the diplomas get taken at approved centers, they do have an option to look for these centers through their websites but they seem to be physical in person rather then online.
what online institutes have people on this forum used/recommend ? i found the lsbr but not all of their diplomas are awarded by the aforementioned bodies , a lot of them are accredited by ofqual which seems to be a governmental body not sure what is the difference between it and the awarding bodies.

15 or 16 credits needed for residency? |

Hello everyone.
I am new here. I will be starting TESU in January, hopefully (I am waiting for my financial aid to be applied to that term).
I have a question about the residency requirement. I intend to take 15-16 credits in one term to avoid paying a residency waiver. I always see people on this forum say that 16 credits at TESU are needed to meet the residency requirement, but I see on TESU's website it says only 15 credits are required?
Quote:What is the credit residency?
In order to satisfy the credit hour residency requirement for the Per Credit Tuition Plan, students pursuing an associate degree or a bachelor’s degree must earn 15 semester hours of Thomas Edison State University credit via the University’s Online, Nursing Online, Guided Study or e-Pack courses.
https://www.tesu.edu/admissions/faqs/cre...24ca06a4-2
I don't want to not take enough credits, but I don't want to take an extra 1 credit class if I don't need to. 15 credits will be more than enough.
I have to take 12 non-epack credits to max out my financial aid, so I will be doing that. And I will take one epack, and if necessary, a 1 credit course, either medical terminology (already took it before and it would be a good review for me, or the Jane Austen one).
I am scheduling a meeting with an advisor, but I wanted to check with this forum as to why it commonly says 16 credits are needed.
Thank you!
I intend to make another post with more details about my degree plan but just quickly I have 98 credits transferred in for math BA. I might want to also get a CS BA - without the 9 credit AOS overlap rule I would need to take about 5 extra SDC courses - but it would be much easier for me to just finish math, so I probably won't. I have all the math courses completed from long ago, and only need some electives and the capstone and other necessary class now.
