Sat Adulthood & Aging Today w/Progress Update
Posted by: Basket Weaver - 10-11-2006, 12:45 PM - Forum: General Education-Related Discussion - No Replies

I sat Adulthood & Aging today, it was a very long test, 150 questions, and I feel IC set me up for a pass (I hope anyway). I knew the material very well but the questions were worded very cleverly. It always pisses me off when I see questions worded like this as it appears as though they are inventing ways to trick you up verses testing you on the knowledge at hand; I guess this is the educated way. Definitely know the researchers and what they did, a lot of questions on them; the other 75% of material was spread out. On most of the questions I wasn't sure on, I was able to discount two answers almost immediately, so 50/50 guess was left.

I sat World Pop last week and retook the ECE HRM again, as with the first time I took it, it didn't seem too bad. I guess I'll see if I mismarked or I'm just an idiot when it comes to HRM; time will tell.

I have Gerontology next week, there was not another test date this week and I want to take full advantage of the NEW study guide that IC has put out.Smile I figure I could use a good score to make up for the failed HRM...... Does anyone know if passing an exam you previously failed will wipe out the other score?

I also found out today that my education office on base has to order both the Abnormal Pysch and ECE writing eaxms and they won't be in until Nov 30th!!!! Plus, I'll have to wait a long time for them to be hand graded (45 days?), this puts a serious cramp on the graduation plan. I wanted to be done with this crap by the end of DecSad

Anyway, I'll keep all in the loop as the test results come in. Good luck to all, it's good to see all of the degree completions, it gives me hope! Lee

Hi folks, I have been studying the questions in the courses listing and the REA book with the test questions software for three weeks now. Has anybody taken the test? Should I focus on any particular area?

Thanks Scott:

  Passed First CLEP!
Posted by: ibhereforever - 10-10-2006, 05:53 PM - Forum: General Education-Related Discussion - Replies (13)

Hi All,

I'm Heather. I am new, but have been a forum lurker for a bit. I think instacert is amazing, and this board is a wonderful resource!.

I took and passed my first CLEP today, English Comp without the essay, with a 59. I wish I could have gotten a 60 or so, but I got what I needed for credit, and that is all that matters.

I have 30 credits from previous work, 12 credits I have either completed or am in the process of completing, and am looking to get at least 18 via CLEP

Coming up shortly are:

Bio
Social Science & History
and either History II or Intro to Psych.

I am in the process of getting a BA from AMU, but coming from a B&M school I got messed around with some of my gen. eds, so here I am. :-).

I felt so good today, getting 6 credits in less than 2 hours, it IS addicting!!

  Question about Duplicate Credit
Posted by: Bongsau - 10-10-2006, 04:05 PM - Forum: General Education-Related Discussion - Replies (2)

Does anyone know if the Dantes "Principles of Supervision" will be considered duplicate credit with CLEP "Principles of Management" at Charter Oak? They seem very similar in content. Having taken the CLEP, i feel I can easily pass the Dantes without any additional studying, but I wouldn't want to waste my time if I won't get any real credit for it.

Thanks!

  W00t! I'm a college grad!
Posted by: sirjake - 10-10-2006, 02:54 PM - Forum: General Education-Related Discussion - Replies (22)

I got my official "your done" letter from TESC today! Happiness. Having those two notorized letters stating that I'm finished somehow makes it more real than just knowing that I had met all requirements. Now I've got it in writing and no one can take it away from me by changing the rules at the last minute or something. I'm a college grad!

Finishing up is a good feeling. Cool

  Clep Math
Posted by: Johanna - 10-10-2006, 12:30 PM - Forum: General Education-Related Discussion - Replies (8)

I am scheduled to take Clep Math (general) on Thursday at 3pm. Assuming that Math is not my strength and my main goal is just to pass, how good are my odds when I score 55 on Petersons? I'm sure that can be written in some kind of equasion, but none come to mind, the brain is fried. Any feedback?

  Easiest Exams
Posted by: B2MANLEY - 10-09-2006, 12:47 PM - Forum: General Education-Related Discussion - Replies (4)

I know this has been discussed before, but I wanted to see what the general concensus was on the easiest exams. I have taken Personal Finance and Analyzing and Interpreting Literature. I have to take US History I & II in December. After that, I have 5 more exams I need to complete (upper or lower credit) for electives, so it doesn't matter what they are. I am leaning towards taking all of them in the Business Arena as I have a pretty strong business and IT background.

That being said, this is what I am planning to take:

1. DSST - Human Resource Management
2. DSST - Introduction To Business
3. DSST - Organizational Behavior
4. DSST - Here's to Your Health (just because I heard it was easy)
5. CLEP - Principles of Management

I would appreciate any advice. I cannot take any MIS or Computing type class as I have transferred in these credits and I have verified with my school that they will conflict.

Thanks in advance...

UL Exams Update - Out of the Loop for a While
Posted by: steelers - 10-09-2006, 11:43 AM - Forum: General Education-Related Discussion - Replies (3)

Hello,

I have been away from IC and testing for several months. Can you guys get me up to speed on UL test prep for the following exams? I was hoping to use IC exclusively. Has anybody received an A on these using IC alone? Obviously, I would like to study from as few resources as possible and still score an A (don't we all).

ECE Ethics Research and Practice
Dantes Rise and Fall of the Soviet Union
Dantes Civil War & Reconstruction

Thanks in advance for any info. that yo can share!

  UL ECE Psychology Exams
Posted by: steelers - 10-09-2006, 11:31 AM - Forum: General Education-Related Discussion - Replies (12)

FYI - I have read numerous times that the best order to take these exams regarding material overlap is as follows:

Abnormal Psych
Adulthood & Aging
Gerontology

Followed by Research Methods in Psych, which probably shares little if any overlap with the exams above.

It appears that IC will have Abnormal up in about a month allowing everybody to test in this order.Smile
