APICS Exams (meet upper lev reqs for Business Operations Management)
Posted by: soltran - 03-30-2007, 07:32 PM - Forum: General Education-Related Discussion - Replies (19)

G'day,

I was just wondering if anyone has had experience with APICS exams. My advisor tells me that the majority of the exams are upper level and will meet the concentration requirements for Business Operations Management. I am looking at the exams that make up the CPIM certification and according to my advisor each exam would be granted 3 credits with only the one exam being lower level. So at $145 per exam for non-members or $25 student membership fee and $110 per exam this seems to be a reasonable option. They also have online courses for $450 for student members. I still have some questions for my advisor about these exams but wanted to know if anyone else may have looked into them.

If anyone is interested, the website is APICS - The Association for Operations Management

Regards

i recently just found what CLEP tests can do for me and since i want to graduate early i decided to take a few. i am going to take the Bio CLEP test and one other one. either american gov, human growth psyc, education psyc, or sociology. any advice for these tests?
when you took the bio test did you study all 700 questions on IC or just certain topics. at my school they tell you what is going to be on the test and on the bio test it says
"The test includes questions on the broad field of biological sciences, organized into three major areas: molecular and cellular biology, organismal biology, and populational biology.

Students should consider taking the exam if they can demonstrate the following abilities:

* knowledge of facts, principles, and processes of biology
* understanding of the means by which information is collected, how it is interpreted, how one hypothesizes from available information, how one draws conclusions and makes further predictions
* understanding that science is a human endeavor with social consequences. "

So any advice it what i should study? i would like to take them next week becasue if i do fail, and i hope i dont, i will have time to take them again before i graduate.
also which test did you think was the easiest out of the other ones, not including the bio?

Thanks for the help
Ted

  Share Studying Tips
Posted by: mapalo - 03-29-2007, 10:31 PM - Forum: General Education-Related Discussion - Replies (2)

I know that we all have different ways of studying and understanding materials.
I would like to hear how others study for their exams especially that people that manage to do it in just few days write the exam and pass.
In passed experiences I have always learned some new tricks or tips of studying from other students and I would really appreciate your sharing.
I usually to spend about a week and half to go through IC flash cards and really understand them, I think I could do it faster, but I just don't know how.
I always have to write something down a couple of times for it to stick in my mind. I think sometimes I over do it and waste sometime.
Someone wrote on the Forum how they make up little stories in their minds to remember something that has really been so helpful to me.

Thank you in advance
Mapalo

Now that AMU/APUS is regionally accredited I was wondering who on this board is attending or graduated from there.

I looked up some old posts and it seemed like a few people were going to attend but were scared off because of the RA thing.

Care to share your thoughts/experiences etc.?

I have checked out there site and asked a few questions through the chat and email. I have found them to be very knowledgeable and helpful.

Doesnt mean im going to enroll there. I still havent made up my mind where I plan to go. I still have some exams to attempt.
