Challenge with BA 2 Plus |

Hi,
I went ahead and bought the BA 2 Plus financial calculator. Probably the best $30 I've spent - and I'm just learning the tutorials! After going through InstantCert and watching the first (out of three) Standard Deviants DVDs, I was pretty intimidated by the formulas. A lot to remember, not considering the math! With this baby, I have hope again! :^) - if I can learn how to use it.
Thanks to japprend, there is a post in the Principles of Finance feedback section here at InstantCert (http://www.instantcertonline.com/forums/...sst-2.html) that recommends a great website with video tutorials for learning the BA 2 Plus - http://movies.atomiclearning.com/k12/ti_ba2
The tutorials at http://movies.atomiclearning.com/k12/ti_ba2 are great, but I'm having a challenge completing a computation in Section B, #5. The instructor finishes calculating NPV and moves on to IRR (in the same problem). After computing IRR, he says to press the down arrow to calculate MIRR. But, nothing happens when I press my down arrow (there's only one). His calculator has an up/down arrow (in the screen), and he mouses over the down arrow (on the keypad) and presses it with the calculator changing screens. My calculator doesn't have the up/down arrow (in the screen) and pressing the down arrow (on the keypad) doesn't make the calculator change screens.
The BA 2 Plus manual only seems to cover NPV and IRR for cash flows. (Maybe MIRR isn't that important anyway?)
Is it possible that 1) I'm not doing something right, 2) The tutorial is missing something or is wrong, or 3) There's something wrong with the calculator?
Thanks a lot!

Hello again, once again I am looking to this board for suggestons...Hope you don't mind. Here's the scoup. I am a Licensed Practical Nurse. I could go through Excelsior entirely for my RN, however there are states that will not allow me to work as a RN that was obtained through Excelsior. (long long story), and I want a license that will enable me to work where-ever I want.
So being that, I have been working slowly toward getting all my pre-req's done. I just found out about a school 4 hours away from me that has an accelerated LPN to RN program - 30 week - combo of evening and weekends. I am psyched about this. The downfall, registration for the spring semester ends the last working day of October. But... from those of you who have taken the sciences, do you think it is possible to clep out of 4 sciece classes by then? I need Chemistry, Biology, Anatomy and Physiology, and Microbiology. Actually its the Chemistry and Biology that really worry me.
I will know more Mon or Tues - I am not certain they will accept clep bio and chem, or Excelsior Micro and A&P - some schools require actual labs for these. The person I need to ask will be back from their vacation Monday.
But... repeating myself... what do you all think - 4 sciences by the middle-ish of October? I know everyone studies different and such... but ......
Again thank you for any suggestions....

Passed CLEP Mathematics with 70 (Small review) |

I passed with a 70! My Bachelor degree is now complete! I can't even explain how much it stunk to finish my last class and celebrate with friends in the class, only to know I still had a CLEP test to pass!
The review part will be posted in the review section also.
Anyways, I am 26 haven't done any math since 22. Started studying a week ago and everything looked foreign to me. Bought Princeton's Cracking the CLEP and Barron's CLEP book (More on these later), as well as CLEP's official study guide test.
I studied nightly but found myself not seeming to soak anything in. As today approached I began to get scared. Last night I was panicing because I got about 40% right on practice tests.
Went in today, score of 70.
Heres the thing... The Barron's book threw me off. Its EXTREMELY hard. I rarely could get an answer right and any of their 4 tests. I think its possible to get a 10% on the Barron's and still pass the real test. I realize a practice should be harder than the real thing so the person knows what they're doing, but the Barron's is hard to the point that all it does is bring down your confidence and make you feel like re-scheduling the test.
The Princeton book was very good and helped 'dumb down' the intimidating mystique that a CLEP test can give a person.
The CLEP study guide test was considerably harder than the real test, in my opinion, but was helpful.
As for the test.... The first 2/3rds of the test was definately easier than the last 3rd. I was surprised how few combinations/permutations/probability questions were on it. I expected a lot more. Instead there were a bunch of function questions, and graphs, which I wasn't prepared for. But the test is easy enough that its not hard to plug in answers and/or guess and probably get it right.
Anyways, I'm done with school (for now). Good luck to everyone who takes it!

Gâday everyone,
Between work and studying I havenât had a lot of time of late and as such I havenât participated in the forum in recent times. I am currently sitting on 105 credits with 3 exams and 1 course required to finish my degree.
From my time at the forum I feel that my approach has been different to most. I have fulfilled my credit requirements based on convenience, relevance and learning rather than on cost, ease or speed. I am not saying that one approach is better than the other just that for me it has been more convenient to complete some Excelsior courses rather than take time off work, travel to a testing center and possibly have to stay over night due to the distance and time involved. Another consideration was my GPA. I am currently working in a temporary position for a Global Enterprise and if I wish to apply for a permanent position I need to maintain a reasonable GPA. They will not shortlist an applicant with a GPA less than 3 and it is unlikely to be hired with a GPA less than 3.5. With this in mind I felt that completing some Excelsior courses fit in with my convenience requirements as well as providing my best chance of maintaining a good GPA.
I have completed four Excelsior courses (If you include the INL course) and am currently enrolled in my final course and to date have been able to maintain a 4.0 GPA. If anyone is interested in the details of the courses let me know.
INL102 â Information Literacy â Pass
ENG101 â English Composition - A
IT390 â Project Management â A
BUS425 â Operations Management â A
BUS495 â Business Strategy â Only just started

Okay I've been studying for 2-3 days for the DSST Drug & Alcohol from IC and of course reading from the forum regarding this test.
Do a lot of the exact questions on IC show up on the test??
I'm a little nervous because I failed my first Dantes test and I really don't want to fail this one.. It seems a little hard but I am remembering a lot of the questions from IC when I review them... Do you think I'll be fine with that..?

First I want to thank everyone for all the post. I try to read the forum daily to seek encouragment and additional tips for the tests. I am scheduled to take the Biology exam tuesday afternoon and am worried. I have scored 51% on the first Peterson's exam and 59% today on the second. I utilized a intro to biology dvd course (12 DVDs - 36 hours produced by the Learning Company) and SD video to study. I have looked over a bit of the IC content but haven't made it very far. If anyone could give me some advice, I would greatly appreciate it. The local community college awards 8 hours credit for this exam and it is all I lack for my associates. So I have to pass!

Ok, I'm getting ready to take the English comp CLEP test. I have done all of IC flashcards, and I didn't have all the much problem with them. However, I'm now doing the petersons practice tests and I'm having a lot more trouble because I only have 0.8 minutes per question, and the questions take at least that long to read. I'm wondering if that's actually how the test is or is it easier?
