"Rule of thumb" for Peterson's Test...?

I did a search on Peterson's Test but didn't see what [currently is a good indicator score on these test. I scored a 57 on it. I dunno if Peterson's is easier or not than the real test. I guess I'll take the test for the real American Lit. CLEP Monday...

  College Mathematics CLEP Triumph
Posted by: c.hawk - 09-06-2007, 07:54 PM - Forum: General Education-Related Discussion - Replies (7)

A True Hollywood Story…….for those of us who just suck at math.

Today I attempted the computer based College Mathematics Clep for the third time. I passed barely with a score of 51 (you have to love knowing your score right away, you just can’t beat it).

The previous two times I attempted this exam, I tried every known study material (except instacert) to prepare myself without any success. I studied REA, Standard Deviants, Math Media, Passyourclep, I.E> everything!!!. The first two scores I got were a 47 and a 49. All I needed was a 50!!!! Frustrated and disappointed, I waited yet another 6 months to retake the test. EERRR!!!!

So, for the third time I decided to try using the instacert website. I figured, what the hell, I’m willing to give it a shot.

Amazing, I found the instacert flash cards and database of questions with detailed explanations to be extremely helpful because there were no complicated explanations, just plain answer descriptions for a bunch of ungodly complicated problems. Anyways, I studied for seven whole days and nights (compared to two months of study for each of the previous attempts). Confident I took the exam and passed. FYI…If I failed this time I was going to give up.

So, give instacert a good whole-hearted try. What’s the worst that could happen? You fail? I did, TWICE, before I considered using instacert.

Gen Ed. requirement for other world civilization
Posted by: dini - 09-06-2007, 06:55 PM - Forum: General Education-Related Discussion - Replies (6)

I am with Empire State College and I was told tha i still have to fill a gen. ed. requirement for 'other world civilization'.
 I already took U. S. history and Western Civilization but they say I need another one from world civilization. ::
Modern middle east meets that requirement but i read the reviews and they are terrible, they all recomend not taking it. my mentor said something about Vietnam but I don't see any vietnam exam.
Does anyone have any suggesstions?
Thank you

  test center server crash
Posted by: jec959 - 09-06-2007, 04:30 PM - Forum: General Education-Related Discussion - Replies (6)

I have a test retake dilemma the test center (strayer university owings mills) had a server crash and lost everbodies clep test scores from July 14 2007, now collegeboard will forward my exam results which I have with an explanation to Excelsior or issue me vouchers so I can retake the exam for free. If I take the no retake forward with an explanation collegeboard will have no records of my exam if I want them sent again. I am inclined to just have them send the results with the explanation cause I am in the middle of two courses right now but my question for those of you working on your masters did you have to send you clep transcripts to your school of choice for your masters? If you did I will bite the bullet and retake the exam which will suck as I got a 65 on it.

  question about a question
Posted by: ianator - 09-05-2007, 11:12 AM - Forum: General Education-Related Discussion - Replies (1)

I'm currently studying for the Information systems test.
somewhere in the test questions there is a certain one that goes something like "what is it when you are doing more than one thing one the computer" (thats pretty rough to what it really was but you get the idea)
and the answer was "multitasking"

well I just took the "official practice test" in the Official study guide and there was a similar question: "The Sharing of a computer's resources by allowing the running of two or more programs concurrently on a computer with a single CPU is called" among others there was "multiprocessing" and "multiprogramming"
the answer was multiprogramming.
*confused*

am I just being blank here? anyhow, if anyone knows more about this than me I'd love to figure it out!

thanks!
-Ian

Is this considered an Upper Level exam? Does anybody think I'd be better off taking this instead of Money & Banking?
