Intro to Business Law |

Hey all,
Just took Intro to Business Law this morning and passed with a 66!
As always Snazzle's advice was spot on.
I went through all the IC (non scenario) questions over 2 evenings, looked through the Barron's business review book and that was it.
If you have a business background, common sense, and have watched CSI, you should pass easily.
I finished in 45 minutes, the questions are a bit wordy, so if you read slowly, it might take a bit longer, but anyone should be able to handle this within 90 minutes (100 questions)
Now I can focus on Statistics!

Need Help Staying Motivated |

Hi everyone,
I'm brand new to this. Just signed up today. I decided to study for one of my last four courses that I need to finally complete my BS in Business. It's been a very long road for me (8 years). I decided to either CLEP or DSST by taking:
Here's to your health (need a Natural Science)
Western Civ I or II (not sure which one is easier)
Humanities (will cover two courses that I need, but afraid this is hard)
Any tips would help on how to stay motivated and how to remember everything for these types of tests that I've never taken one before.
Thanks,
boston

Credit For Courses Taught |

If you are an enrolled student at TESC (applicants don't count) AND you teach credit courses at a Regionally Accredited college/university, you can get credit for the courses you teach. This might be duplicate credit depending on your background, but in my case I earned 28 free elective credits FOR FREE. They didn't charge me a dime. Just FYI they came in as transfer credit, not non course credit (like CLEPs)
Just to be clear:
The courses you teach HAVE to be for college credit.
The college HAS to be RA, not NA.
The courses CAN'T duplicate credit you have already earned. (this is open to interpretation in applied technology/career depts, probably worth a try if your not sure, arts and science transfer credits have less wiggle room)
What you have to do:
Call your adviser and tell them you need a "Credit For Courses Taught" application- it is not on the web site, they will snail mail it to you.
You need to document your courses using a photo copy of the official catalog course description FROM THE YEAR you taught/teach each class. The registration center where you work will be able to pull this info for you.
You will need to fill in some other misc, like dates and credits. (your HR department has this) Your department chair will need to send a letter and your entire packet into TESC. They will review it (yawn...mine took 3 months) and decide.
I know this option won't apply to everyone- but the reason it applied to me is because my culinary degree was from a NA college when I graduated and landed my teaching job. When I applied to TESC, they wouldn't take my transcript from my NA degree (even though the college is now RA), but since I was teaching many of those courses, they would allow me to get credit for teaching them. Apparently, if you TEACH a course for 12 years, they figure you probably have the knowledge of a student completing your course. (gosh thanks) Anyway, I know I have read about a few people who teach, so just tossing it out there.
Remember- it's free!
P.S. They will assign an alpha/numeric to the course, it probably won't appear on your transcript exactly as you teach it. ex. My CU208 Food Cost Accounting actually came in to TESC as ACC199 (note it was taken down from 200 level to a 100 level and changed to an accounting course, yet my 3 credit CUL125 Culinary Math course was turned into a 3 credit HOE which is an elective, not math.)
Hope someone can use this info!!

Failed ENGLISH COMP with ESSAY |

I am now preparing once again to take the English COMP with essay exam. I failed it 6 months ago "48". My down fall is that I am a slow reader. I ran out of time for the Multiple Choice questions. Hoping that some one can give some good advice on this one. I really need to pass it this time...Only 2 classes left.
I think that I am having trouble seeing the errors right away in the questions. I keep reading the question over and over before I answer it. I hope someone can help me with this

Just to let everyone know that I passed Social Science and history "65". I was really worried about this one because of the broad content base. However, the test is very straight forward. No need to get into great detail. I know that many of the students will do the US history and Western Civilization exams prior to this one. There is no need to. It is a 6 credit course. I studied for 2 weeks using learner.org, Cracking the Clep book and Petersons. I also skimmed through the IC material. All of these things combined was enough to pass. GOOD LUCK!!

Question: Penn Foster Technical Math1 |

I just spoke to Mary Beth of Penn Foster College to register for Technical Math1. She said this course was a two credit unit, and I have seen someone mentioned that on the Forum.
So I decided to call Excelsior School of Business just to make sure they will give me three credits units (Pass/Fail) if I did this course from Penn Foster
They say if it Practical Algebra Technical Math 1 they will.
My question is for those of you that have taken this course before. Is Penn Foster Technical Math 1 same as the Practical Algebra Technical Math 1 (IC-0134) to satisfy the Math requirement for the Business Degree from EC, and can the Two credit units from Penn foster be translated into three credit unit with EC?
Thank you all
Mapalo
